Trend T4 Router

Its got a brilliant variable speed adjustment and there start/stop switch is easily reached. Although it doesn’t have a soft start, it doesn’t really need it as it doesn’t really jerk when its switched on. One of the complaints people have is there is no fine height adjustment. No there isn’t but you can buy one to screw on for a small extra cost, but this is a budget router. You can’t expect it to have everything. The guide bushes are very easily attached to t...

I saw this on sale at my local Lowes with a table for $84, (also available on Lowes.com), and with my military discount it got in at $76. You get this nice looking router, 1.75HP peak, (Rightttt), 1/4” collet, good dust collection port, very smooth plunge, lightweight. It pretty much stops there. The motor is the only one out of my seven router collection that when I hit the start button, my lights dim for a second. Not even my 2.5HP Bosch does that, nor my HF. Cheap motor…...

Makita RT0700C Roumer (Router/Trimmer)

Makita RT0700C Roumer (Router/Trimmer)

So this is my first power tool review, so I will be doing on my Christmas gift I got which was the Makita RT0700C router (Picture 1). On first looks the router looks to be a cross between a trimmer and fixed base router. The router looks and feels to be very well built with an aluminium base and main body. The top of the motor is plastic with the power lead come out of the side, which makes it easy to turn upside down and change bits over. The motor on this tool is a 710 watt electronic va...

bosch router 1617evs router

I recently acquired a Bosch router, the variable speed 2 1/4 hp 1617. It is day and night compared to my old Ryobi. First, it comes in a massive blue case with ample room for the router motor, fixed base and plunge base as well as accessories. It comes with the 1/4 and 1/2” collets, a set of wrenches, a manual and a special wrench to adjust the plunge base from above the table. You can adjust the speed from 8000 to 25000 rpm by turning a dial. It is also variable speed and will eas...

We have tested many tools so far and recently decided to start recording our data.. This is the first “documentary” video of us giving this router a Hardwood Pounding! Take the time to at least watch the funeral. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NWm63oOvAQ

Festool CMS Router Table, A lot of money, a lot of design issues

Festool CMS Router Table, A lot of money, a lot of design issues

So, I had the opportunity to play with the new CMS Router table that Festool just brought to America. Now, I’m not a big Festool fan to start with, I agree that there tools are well made and dust collection is top notch, I just feel they are greatly over priced when there are numerous other options available. The CMS I feel is another example. The one we have set up is the stand alone complete set (retail price $1600), in the box is a table with folding legs, the router lift plate, a...

Above Table Adjustments Make This Router a Cut Above

Above Table Adjustments Make This Router a Cut Above

I have been using the Freud fixed base FT1700VCE for the past several years. It is my dedicated table router where it excells at easy bit changes and height adjustments all from above the table. No more bending over, kneeling, and craning to change bits under the table. It also offers a wide base opening to accomodate all large panel raising bits. Those features make it an ideal table router. At 13 amps or 2-1/4 hp, it has power to spare. Comparing it to my other routers, it cuts more...

I purchased this router because I needed something lighter than my 691 plunge base in order to keep being able to do some woodworking. I bought the router andmost of the accessories for it, the fence(the inexpensive one), the round base to use with bushings, the vacuum adaptors for both bases. I used it for the first time to let in some banding and do some round over work on my current project. I am impressed with the the tool. It is easy to handle with either base. The plunge base is easy to...

Easy to use - seems like a pretty good deal

Easy to use - seems like a pretty good deal

Bottom line up front – pretty nice little tool for moderate use with a few limitations for a good price. Some caveats: I am fairly new to woodworking and don’t have deep experience with a lot of tools. I gave this product 4 stars based on the fact that I think it works well, but I feel like five stars should be reserved for “the best of the best.” (Like grade inflation and such). So, four is a pretty good rating and means I would recommend it to a friend, even a ...
