this router is amazing! it is my first router and i am thoroughly pleased. i purchased this router combo kit for 200 dollars at Lowe’s. most of the other combo kits that i saw anywhere else for around 200 dollars were only 1 1/4 hp but this has a great 2 1/4 hp and it cuts through any woods that at thrown at it with ease. it proved to be an especially helpful tool when recently i used a straight edge guide with this router to joint an 8 ft piece of mahogany so i could reference of of th...

For a few years I made do with a ryobi plunge router. In fact it’s still going strong, but the time came for an upgrade. I knew I wanted a kit, that way I could put the fixed base under the router table and just switch the motor over. The plan was to make some rail and stile doors so I figured on at least a 2hp router. I have two of these routers!I mounted on in my router table and use the other one for manual jobs. Having a 3 ¼ Hp, 15 AMP motor, the Hitachi M12V is can handle virtually any routing job or bit design. The motor features an infinitely adjustable electronic speed control dial and soft start to make it manageable for hand use. I was trying to decide between a shaper and a high end router table when I came across some info on the Porter-Cable #7518 router. I decided to take a chance on it and I have not been dissappointed. There is a reason this has become the industry standard.
