Making Woodpeckers Locking Rings Readable

Making Woodpeckers Locking Rings Readable

09-03-2010 03:54 AM by PoppyJo | 7 comments »

Hi to all my fellow Woodpeckers, I just received my set of 8 Locking Rings for the PRL V2. I’m very impressed with the lift, but a little disappointed with the Locking Rings. They don’t look like some of the pictures and are very hard to read (have to catch the light just right). So an easy solution is to use “White Out” over all the recessed lettering, let dry and clean up using mineral spirits, now thats makes my job a little easier. The White Out is pretty tough ...

Milescraft Sign Crafter

Milescraft Sign Crafter

08-30-2010 09:40 AM by kosta | 11 comments »

Yo whats up everybody here is a review of the the Milescraft sign crafter. I have had the sign crafter for about 7 weeks and it works great. I did a video on the milescraft sign crafter in Episode 76 MIlescraft Sign Crafter. Its basically a jig that you use to cut signs with your router. You can cut signs up to 36 in long. Its important that the surface your router bit is referencing off of doesnt move or your not going to get an accurate cut. Once you clamp everything down the sign crafter ...

Great plate and easy to install

Great plate and easy to install

08-05-2010 04:20 PM by Vrtigo1 | 4 comments »

Let me start by saying that I bought this plate for my first router table, so I don’t have any frame of reference for comparing it to other products. With that being said, I was impressed with the quality of the plate and the cutout template. The price was right, at about $50 from Amazon. I was a little worried about getting a phenolic plate and the possibility of it warping when I hang my Hitachi M12V from it, but the plate feels very strong and stable. Only time will tell, but I...

Harbor Freight Dovetail jig

Harbor Freight Dovetail jig

07-26-2010 07:20 AM by Tim29 | 53 comments »

I have been wanting to get a dovetail jig for sometime now. I was up against a brick wall however. Do I fork over the bucks for a Porter Cable jig or do I buy a cheaper jig and see if it does the job for less money. I have tried this type of approach many times with many tools. Most of the time I have went on to pay for the better quality tool as well as the cheaper tool that did not work. This is not one of those times.I paid the $23 for the Harbor Freight Dovetail jig and it works pretty we...

Milescraft 1207 Router Design Inlay Kit

Milescraft 1207 Router Design Inlay Kit

07-02-2010 06:48 PM by ChunkyC | 7 comments »

I purchased the Milescraft 1207 Router Design Inlay Kit because a friend wants me to inlay the Wisconsin “Running W” logo into a lid for him. The kit comes complete with everything that you need to get started routing inlays. I had to make a trip to the hardware store for M4×12 pan head screws to mount the universal base plate to my Freud router. It comes with 7” Universal Base Plate with the Turnlock system, three guide bushing, 4 templates with multiple cutouts, ...

Freud Adjustable (Ogee) rail and Stile Bit Set

Freud Adjustable (Ogee) rail and Stile Bit Set

06-28-2010 08:46 PM by Drew | 7 comments »

Nice set of bits.I paid $120, about $20 more then the non-adjustable set. Pros:-Quality cut. Very nice, clean, single pass cut. Better then my Grizzly (purple set).-Versatile. I will leave the details to Freud Cons:-Directions. I had to go online (not to Freud, but to Woodcraft) to find instructions. Even then the instructions are not as detailed as I would have liked. I wish they would show you how many shims to use to achieve a certain width groove. Not just “and shims a...

Whiteside Router Bits and Woodworkersworld.net

I expect good customer service when I am trying to buy something from a company but this week I dealt with two companies that went above and beyond anything I could ask for.I was looking for a particular router bit and couldn’t find it locally and if they ordered it they told me to expect up to a two week wait. I found the bit I was looking for on Whiteside’s website but a notation in their catalog said it was not for the use I intended. I called Whiteside to find out why and was ...

Good qaulity cutter

Good qaulity cutter

06-08-2010 02:27 AM by thatwoodworkingguy | 5 comments »

I purchased this bit to speed up and simplify my box making. To install the lid and base it calls for a 1/4 inch groove around the top and bottom of all sides. Instead of fiddling with the table saw and instead of taking the time to install a dado head I figured it seemed reasonable to have a router with this bit dedicated. This is my first experience with Eagle America and it wont be my last. The shipping was incredible. I only got the standard shipping and I ordered it on Wednesday of last w...

Amana bits are great, the need for this set is not

06-01-2010 12:59 AM by rhett | 8 comments »

This is a fine set of bits. The quality, workmanship and finish of all my Amana bits has been flawless. Therefore this is not a bad mark about Amana router bits, they are the best you can buy in my opinion. This is however a review of the actual need to have a set of bits like these. I bought this set due to the fact that I have a kitchen on the floor with seven 45 degree corners. Building faceframe cabinets, this equates to 28 faceframe stiles needing a 22.5 degree angle. I assumed t...
