Table works great though installation is finicky

Table works great though installation is finicky

I ordered this router table insert plate on a Thursday afternoon and received it on Monday afternoon which I think is an excellent delivery time. The shipment arrived well packaged with everything in it. The instructions to install this thing are very detailed and laid out in a logical step by step manner, which though very complex and daunting upon first review, became quite logical once you take the time to follow the instruction procedure. It took me quite a bit of time to get this plat...

Custom portable router table

Custom portable router table

1 day ago by Woodchuck1957 | 5 comments »

What led me to start this prodject was the desire to have a better setup than the vibrating Craftsman table and router I had used for close to 20 years, plus when I seen the Freud fence when they first came out I just had to have one. So after buying the fence the journey began on deciding what type and design of table I wanted and which router plate. I liked the looks of the Kreg portable router table, but Kreg wouldn’t sell me just the stand without the top, router plate, and fence. O...

A great router fence

A great router fence

41 days ago by Steven Naslund | 0 comments »

After messing around with a lot of home-made fence systems for my router table, I decided that for my newest table I would buy a fence and spend more time building furniture and less time building the shop. The fence is built incredibly well as has been my experience with all the Jess-Em products I have purchased. Positives - Fence stays centered on the table when sliding back and forth Spilt sliding fence allows for very large router bits Comes with jointing shims to bring half ...

MLCS Horizontal Router Table

MLCS Horizontal Router Table

I was having trouble routing wide panels standing on edge on my router table. I made a jig to stand panels on edge for trimming solid edge moldings on plywood but was unhappy with the results. After reading reviews http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/review1.htm#Horizonal_Tab_anchor and watching the short video http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/horizontal_router_table.html I ordered the table and mounted a Craftsman Model 3...

Non-slip router mat - Sometimes little things make a difference

Non-slip router mat - Sometimes little things make a difference

I have to admit, I feel a little silly writing a review for what’s basically a heavy duty carpet pad. However, as a new woodworker who doesn’t have luxurys like a workbench with a tail vice and bench dogs, sometimes the little things can make a huge difference. Using a router is a little difficult if your workpiece keeps sliding around, not to mention dangerous. This thing really solves the problem. Throw it on top of your tablesaw, put your workpiece on top of it, and go to...

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

I purchased this after seeing it at a woodworking show. Man did it look good. The guy was doing all kinds of stuff with it (including sucking the money out of my wallet). He cut half blinds, through, sliding dovetails, variable spaced, fixed space, etc. I then proceeded to watch Norm do the same thing on the video that was running next to the demo. It was about 1/2hr long and I think I watched it 3-times throughout the day (before I bought it). The great part is that is a $599 retail ma...

Good idea but too flimsy

Well i needed an edge guild and i didn’t want to order away for one so i got this milescraft edge guide. it is a good concept. it comes with a “swiss cheese” base that can be used on almost all routers which it able to be put into the edge guide and then you twist the router in the edge guide and it locks the router in. also they have a turnlock bushing that they include which is the same concept of the base. just insert it and twist to lock it down. as i said it is a good c...

Shopsmith Joint Matic - Horizonal Router

First I must say that the photos are not mine. I surfed the net and found them. This review is for a discontinued tool. Can’t buy it new anymore, but if you find one, grab it. It is a rare tool. Shopsmith originally sold for $999. There is currently one for sale on craigslist.org in Dallas for $600 I bought mine on eBay a few years ago. It came with a Porter Cable router base that fits my 690.Even came with the optional Shopsmith stand. I got one heck of a bargain. Paid twice a...

Good starter table.

Good starter table.

279 days ago by kshipp | 1 comment »

I got this router table as part of a combo with this router. My previous router table was all molded plastic and had a significant bow in the table making it useless. This table is nice for a starter table but it doesn’t have a lot of the high end features. The fence is very adjustable with the ability to move the out feed side independently and also slide the sides to cover the bit hole. There is a 2 1/2” dust extraction port on the back which I haven’t used because the ...
