Another bad bosch router product

Another bad bosch router product

What the heck. For a company that makes such a good router their accessories suck. I used this template guide for maybe 2 feet cutting out miter slots on my new outfeed table see here and the collet snapped off of the plate. It took a nice chunk out of my carbide upcut spiral bit. I will be contacting bosch to see if I can get some compensation. If they make good on it I will let you know. If I don’t update this assume they suck still.

Whiteside Combination Compression Bit

Whiteside Combination Compression Bit

12-16-2014 11:46 PM by longgone | 15 comments »

I have a good number of router bits for different purposes that I have accumulated over the years…some good and some not so good. I have been looking at this spiral combo bit from Whiteside for a while…hoping it would go on sale…but it never seemed to…so and finally decided to buy it. I have given it a good workout before writing this review because it is not my everyday bit and isn’t cheap at $149. I’ve used it in my router table and also with a handhe...

A very accurate safety device. A Must Have!

A very accurate safety device. A Must Have!

The Purpose: So I do most of my woodworking at work because we have a pretty nice shop there. In late September of this year I was routing a 1/2” deep x 2” wide flute into a piece of wood when the workpiece was shot across the room and my left hand was thrown into the router bit. After a trip to the ER and emergency hand surgery with a skin graft, I was very fortunate in that I only lost 3mm of bone and approximately 5mm of total length off of the end of my left thumb (I st...

Rockler Bench Cookies - Worth the Money

Rockler Bench Cookies - Worth the Money

07-27-2009 04:14 AM by Greg Wurst | 14 comments »

I see I’ve been beaten to the punch on the review, but I’ll go ahead and add my 2 cents worth here. I was at Rockler this weekend and noticed they had these in stock; so I forked-over my $12 and bought a set. As you probably know by now, these are plastic pucks with what is essentially router pad material on both sides. They grip tenaciously, and with any moderate downward pressure will hold your workpiece in place. For any large panel or heavy object these worked great....

The new Mortise Pal: an exceptional upgrade to an exceptional tool

The new Mortise Pal: an exceptional upgrade to an exceptional tool

Mortise Pal has re-designed their jig and the features are more than incremental. I’m an old fan of the MP jig having bought the first two models. I was real honored to be chosen by them to test their newest model. I started a blog about the test and now that I've been able to play around with the jig I will update it. There have been many excellent reviews of the first models posted here on LJs. For those not familiar with this tool, it is a router jig that facilitates perfectly...

First Blush Impressions

First Blush Impressions

Disclaimer: I’m not a professional reviewer and these opinions are mine and mine alone! Retail Price: $149.99 I first saw this jig in magazine adverts about two months ago and have had a couple people ask me about the jig, but I hadn’t actually seen one until last night. I was able to procure the jig, spent last night reading the directions and checking out the General Tools Website videos, and today I tested the jig over several hours with the following results. Th...

A good ready-made router table

A good ready-made router table

12-23-2011 10:02 PM by dadefreese | 14 comments »

This is pretty much the review I added to Lowes, which is where I bought this table: This table gets it right. The router mounting plate has many configurations for a variety of router brands and it features a large enough opening for biggest raised panel bits. The split fence is very nice as well with a t-track located above the split MDF auxiliary fences. The fence has a somewhat flimsy vacuum port and the back of the table also has a separate orifice for a dust collection hose to attach...

RT1000XL Router Table - Excellent Product

RT1000XL Router Table - Excellent Product

01-02-2012 10:29 AM by David Grimes | 14 comments »

I’ve had this table for almost a year, so for those of you yearning for a review where the tags aren’t still hanging, this is one of them. As you can see from my photos, I have added an MCLS Daisy Pin Router to it. The table does not come with the pin router. The only modifications I have made are adding 7” to the base to suit my height preference. I knew I was going to do this when ordered, so I told the builder to attach the wheels knowing that I would transfer them ...

Momentary Power Foot Switch

Momentary Power Foot Switch

How many time when starting your router or your drill press or other power tool did you wish you had one more hand to grab firmly on the piece you were ready to machine? Often we present a piece of wood on the router just at right place to route it and then we need to let go of it to start the router and then the piece move. Or we hardly can hold one large piece , we do not feel very safe and then we need to let go of one hand to start the router or the drill press. After I refurbished...
