Good Nailer so far! More good things to come!
5 days ago by Tim_456 | 1 comment »
I had a craftsman nailer/stapler combo that did a decent job but would smash the wood sometimes with the square headed 16GA nails. I have some new woodwork that wasn’t going to work well with those nails so I was looking for a new one. I found this one and the “DA” nails (rounded head rather than square head) and it looked like it would do the trick. I picked it up at the local Lowe’s for $189.99. I didn’t do much investigation because all the brands looked t...
Economical Brad Nailer

Bostich BT200k 18 Gauge Pneumatic Brad Nailer. The unit came with a case, instructions and warranty. The housing is magnesium and is very lite weight (listed at 6 lbs). It is also oil free, which I find to be a plus. There is an adjustable depth control and a sequential trip mechanism. Recommended air pressure is 70psi to 120 psi. It will shoot brads from 5/8” to 2”. This is a factory reconditioned item and comes with a 1 year warranty. Cost was $34.99 including shipping from ...
Harbor Freight 23 Ga. Air Pinner
218 days ago by Tim Scoville | 21 comments »
I have become rather pragmatic in the purchasing of some tools for my shop. Harbor Freight is very accessible for me and the cost of air tools from the big box stores seems out of proportion to what they do and what I can buy them for at HF. I am not not a power user of air nailers but expect I will use them more and more over time. Although the normal price for this is $24.99, I think I picked mine up on sale for $16.99. The pins I buy in packages of 6000 for about $4. I love these pinners s...
Maybe I got a bad one, but I'm getting a Grex. This P-C is a loser
242 days ago by RalphB | 35 comments »
I bought one of these and have been thoroughly disappointed with it. No matter what the air pressure or length of the pin it only sinks them to flush at best. And of course you can’t adjust the depth. If I sand one bit you get a nice shiny (until it rusts later) little 23 gauge nailhead looking at you. I also do not like the fact that it lacks a soft nose. So if you try and hold it a little tight to get the pin sunk as far as possible you get a dent in the wood that is a lot worse ...
Solid brad nailer

After debating for a while, I decided to buy this brad nailer. I was torn between this and the PC 2” model, but when I couldn’t find a good deal on the compressor/nailer combo kit I decided to go a different route. I’m glad I did (although I’m sure the PC nailer would have been great) I went to Home Depot and Lowes to handle some different nailers and see which ones I liked: weight, ease of loading, tip visibility, etc. I ended up choosing this one simply because i...
DeWalt DC616 18V 16 Gauge Cordless Straight Finish Nailer Review
495 days ago by Tim from Iowa City | 3 comments »
Introduction – I have a small Porter-Cable air compressor and finish nailer. If you are like me, it doesn’t take long to get tired of hauling the air compressor, nailer, hose, nails, oil, and everything else that goes along with finish nailing, even when the compressor is small. Don’t get me wrong, I like my air compressor very much. However, it can be very inconvenient when you need to fire off just a few nails. In many similar cases, I’ll look for a workaround rather than haul out all m...
Best Nailer you'll find in this price range

I love this brad nailer. i got it a Lowe’s for about 80 dollars and it hasn’t failed me since. it has never jammed and the performance has been great. i decided on this brad nailer because it had a 7 year warranty and it was the only one under 100 dollars to accept brads up to 2”. i like how its oil free too. this is my first brad nailer so i don’t know how much of a good thing that is but my dad (who has had nailers you need to oil) says that its good. now more on ...
Who's got two thumbs and loves to staple?
667 days ago by gizmodyne | 10 comments »
This guy. This stapler shoots 1/2” to 1 1/2” narrow crown staples. Have you ever had to remove a freakin’ narrow crown staple. It is not coming out. Staples resist racking. I use this for reinforcing cabinets and attaching their backs. Very strong. Also it is awesome for building lattice. Brads and finish nails will pull out. Staples hold strong. (Use galvanized for outdoor.) I would definitely buy another P.C. gun. No jams. No problemo. 4 stars because how...

Great little nailer
677 days ago by Roger Strautman | 5 comments »
This was a micro nailer that I bought in hopes of fastening trim on the very end of the piece without splitting and not just any trim but oak and it worked great. This 23 gauge nailer is very light weight and can shoot 1/2”- 1” headless pins so small that if you stain the piece you have to look very hard to even see the small spot of the head. The pins are sold in packets of 2600 form $7-$12. The only downfall that I have found with this gun is that it has no safety so one has to ...
