Old Reliable

This review is for a saw that I’ve been using almost daily for a little over four years now. I purchased the DW718 after using the DW708 for over nine years. Out of the box I noticed that the base had grown a bit, but still had 110 degrees of miter settings and the same simple to adjust detent plate. I found this to be a plus after witnessing what some of my peers experienced while reclibrating some of the other manufactures mitersaws. From my experience the only time I’ve had an...

Great saw with a few annoyances

Great saw with a few annoyances

I have had this saw for about two years now and use it regularly. I have not yet bothered making a sled for the tablesaw since I tend to use this for anything narrower than about 14”. Note you can cut boards as wide as 16” but it requires messing about with the fence which I have not bothered to do. The saw does eat up a lot of space; you need a lot of clearance on the sides plus it needs a substantial clearance behind the saw. The price for the capacity I guess. I have not per...

Makita 10" Sliding Miter Saw

Makita 10" Sliding Miter Saw

I have used this saw for a little over a year now, I have completed a few projects with it, but it doesn’t see daily service. I have used Dewalt, Hitachi, Ryobi, Porter Cable Saws previously. After reading several reviews, I was choosing between the Bosch, Makita & Festool, Accuracy is very good. Weight is very good, Ease of use is pretty good. The blade brake seems to be wearing out, very prematurely in my opinion. This saw doesn’t see heavy use, so I wouldn’t ...

One Sweet Saw

One Sweet Saw

Cuts very clean. The 90 degree stops were perfectly square right out of the box so no adjustment needed. With a dust collector attached it’s got excellent dust control. It glides so smooth you can just about operate it with a couple fingers. My only gripe is that it did not come with a laser guide. Even my $90 Makita P.O.S. came with one. For an $800 saw to not have one is mind boggling. I was so annoyed by that I almost gave it 4 stars.

Craftsman 12" Sliding Miter

Craftsman 12" Sliding Miter

This miter saw has been very good purchase, I made some compromises in order to have a sliding compound miter sooner rather than later. I choose this one because of price $230.00 (I think the regular price is like $330.00), and durability. When I looked at the display model, it was firm and square. The saw has all the power I need, and most of the time I’m using it for cross cuts, and simple 45’s and 22.5’s . Out of the box everything was squared up, I had to make a slight...

None slider 5 star

None slider 5 star

After a few disasters with sub $200 sliders and a dual rail miter sled, I decided to grab one of these none sliders. And @ $120, this made it impossible to resist for too long.I blew the sales they had on Amazon and also the sales they had on-line at sears but got lucky in store deal. So I grabbed it. Any way, right out of box the accuracy was an impressive within 0.1 in all aspects. Not bad at all but not good enough for a calibration fanatic like myself. So after an hour or so of tweaks, ...

I have always looked at Hitachi Tools when they first came out and starting reading all the reviews I could find on there new line of tools.I was REALLY impressed because after reading( the reviews..) on them I never once read anything bad about there products.I even posted questions on several Woodworkers forums. When the time came to replace my tired old Delta I chose an Hitachi 12 inch Compound Miter Saw,well also for the fact I got a great deal on it too..!!As always when buying a new too...

Lightweight saw cuts with power and precision

Lightweight saw cuts with power and precision

I don’t like the big 10 and 12” Slide compound saws. They aretoo heavy to easily move around. I’m a relatively young man andI am strong, but still I don’t like lifting much more than 40 lbs. if I’m installing trim. I bought this saw because I was doing a job where I had to miter9” wide crown moulding and my older 12” miter saw (not a slider)wasn’t able to do it, even on the flat. The larger a blade on one of these sliding saws, the more ...

Fantastic saw for rough or finish work

Fantastic saw for rough or finish work

1204 days ago by wannabe | 13 comments »

Hi all, Since I’ve read so much good advice, I thought I’d contribute a little myself. I’ve had the C10FSH for a couple of years now and have to say it is hands down a fantastic saw. It’s a dual bevel 10 inch slider that I bought so I could cut some boards to lay under a shed. I’ve also used it for some fine trim work and hope to use it for some furniture building. It is dead-on accurate and doesn’t need to be readjusted unless you change the blade. ...
