Big improvement ends being PURE GARBAGE!!!

I’ve purchased this saw ‘cause I owned the past model. It was supposed to be a big improvement. Surprise!!!, the main table was broken at the back, right where the Allen screw holds the saw’s main axle!!!. I’ve sent it to the service center and they kindly replaced the table at no cost…’cause the saw was under warranty still. I’ve seen the saw had a problem. It wouldn’t stay vertical, I mean it wasn’t cross cutting vertical, there was at l...

Ultimate in accuracy and space savings

Ultimate in accuracy and space savings

I purchased the Bosch axial glide 10” dual bevel miter saw to replace a 20 year old Makita that I just plain wore out. I really wanted to increase the capacity of my miter saw for years but didn’t want to expand the depth of my cut off table and give up valuable floor space. Then the 12” axial glide was released a few years back. Again, I wanted to stay with a 10” saw because of the investment already made in 10” saw blades, all my blades are Forrest and all my s...

Santa brought a New Bosch GCM12sd miter saw

Santa brought a New Bosch GCM12sd miter saw

My old Delta chopsaw has served me well for a number of years, but many recent projects hungered for a better way to cut compoundangles with a larger crosscutting capacity. Santa brought a new saw for me this Christmas. Its a Bosch GCM12sd, which is one very large saw, compared to the Delta chopsaw. This thing is amazing. The slide mechanism is a bit of engineering marvel if you ask me.The “articulating” arm, as they call it, moves effortlessly across the bed of the sawwith a o...

Hitachi C12FDH- a saw not even student contractors could kill

Hitachi C12FDH- a saw not even student contractors could kill

I purchased this saw at the beginning of our home addition/renovation with the intention of using it to do the trim work. I wanted a professional quality saw without breaking the budget (I had the contractors for the budget busting). We had a 600 sq. ft new master bedroom/ensuite and family room added to our 960 sq. ft bungalow. The construction crew (Architecture students under a Professional Architect/construction contractor) immediately started using it for framing (honestly if I had real...

I received a Bosch Gcm12sd dual bevel glide miter saw from my lovely wife for Christmas 2011 so its about 2 months old. Up until now i’ve only used it in the “chop saw” mode with narrow materials. Recently I tried to crosscut a 1” x 12” an realized there is a problem that cant be adjusted. The blade is not parallell with the arm that moves it. As I complete a cut through a 12” board the trailing end of the blade is cutting an additional 32nd off the left ...

A good starter miter saw or second miter saw for fast work

A good starter miter saw or second miter saw for fast work

I am not sure if this saw is still available with the exact specifications and model number of this one, but they do have one in the same price class: $99.00 and it probably works just as well. As with all models in this size class, the saw can cut a 2×6 at 90 degrees and a 2×4 at 45. The miter-lock handle in right in front and the bevel release is in the back. It can bevel in one direction out to 45 degrees and the motor is a decently powerful 14-amp job. It comes with a decent ...

Ridgid MS1290LZA & MS-UV Mobile base

Ridgid MS1290LZA & MS-UV Mobile base

I’ve had my Ridgid miter saw for two years now. At first I found it required more room in my shop than I had. After working around the large footprint, I bought the MS-UV mobile cart. I feel that I have the perfect combination now. The saw with a Freud D1296N blade is a dream to work with. And now that I have added the mobile base, my problem with the footprint is a thing of the past. Being in a wheelchair makes moving most shop equipment a dreaded chore. But the large wheels and the b...

Makita 10" Sliding Miter Saw

Makita 10" Sliding Miter Saw

I have used this saw for a little over a year now, I have completed a few projects with it, but it doesn’t see daily service. I have used Dewalt, Hitachi, Ryobi, Porter Cable Saws previously. After reading several reviews, I was choosing between the Bosch, Makita & Festool, Accuracy is very good. Weight is very good, Ease of use is pretty good. The blade brake seems to be wearing out, very prematurely in my opinion. This saw doesn’t see heavy use, so I wouldn’t ...

Ridgid 12 in Sliding Compound Miter Saw

Ridgid 12 in Sliding Compound Miter Saw

I recently purchased a Ridgid MS 1290LZ 12 in Sliding Compound Miter saw. I was looking for a saw to take the place of both a radial arm saw and a miter saw, so I decided on a 12 in slider. I did not have room (or money!) for both types of saws, so i decided that this would be a good way to get some of the benefits of both. I have had this saw for about two weeks now and am just about done trimming out my entire house with it. So far I am very happy with it and feel as if it was money wel...

skil 10 in compound miter saw

skil 10 in compound miter saw

this miter saw is a very nice saw and has a lot of features you would find on a bigger saw. The bevel adjustment is a handle you turn and the saw becomes loose to turn to the left it is only a single bevel saw but it does go 49’ in each direction for miters. It also has the most common angles for crwn molding marked so they are easy to find. I bought my saw for $100 so it not cheap but aint $1300 like the kapex is I take it on jobs with me all the time so this saw can take a beating. Th...
