Hitachi C12RSH Dual Compound Sliding Miter W/Laser Marker

Hitachi C12RSH Dual Compound Sliding Miter W/Laser Marker

I have been kicking around getting a 12 inch slider for some time. I have had my craftman 10 inch basic miter saw for amost 20 yrs. She has served me well but I wanted more x cutting capability instead of using the table saw for long planks. I have had this saw for 2 weeks now and really gotten to get a feel for how she performs. I don’t give out 5 stars easily. I’m hard on my tools but I must say this is a great saw. I was surprised it came with a good quality carbide blade. I...

A vintage miterbox worth owning.

A vintage miterbox worth owning.

I see many reviews of contemporary tools by modern manufacturers. However, given that many woodworkers purchase vintage tools for their own use, I thought it would be valuable to write a review about one of them. My goal here is to answer the question, “Is a Stanley #60 miterbox worth buying?” Spoiler alert. Answer. Yes, it is. My sample came from an estate sale. It was so minty that I couldn’t resist handing over $15.00 to take it home. Based on the crappy saw han...

The perfect saw for my needs and space

The perfect saw for my needs and space

11-13-2014 09:17 PM by ajw1978 | 14 comments »

_First things first, my star rating reflects the saw’s use and value to me and my needs. So may be higher for me than it would be for you, and that’s perfectly fine. Also, the review is also coming from somebody still new to the hobby so may lack the technical details found in other reviews. You can get specs and more information at the Craftsman website The “centerpiece” to my tool collection and budding attempt at a workshop comes after a long and frustrating two ...

Great saw with a few annoyances

Great saw with a few annoyances

12-06-2009 12:37 AM by Webb | 13 comments »

I have had this saw for about two years now and use it regularly. I have not yet bothered making a sled for the tablesaw since I tend to use this for anything narrower than about 14”. Note you can cut boards as wide as 16” but it requires messing about with the fence which I have not bothered to do. The saw does eat up a lot of space; you need a lot of clearance on the sides plus it needs a substantial clearance behind the saw. The price for the capacity I guess. I have not per...

Fantastic saw for rough or finish work

Fantastic saw for rough or finish work

Hi all, Since I’ve read so much good advice, I thought I’d contribute a little myself. I’ve had the C10FSH for a couple of years now and have to say it is hands down a fantastic saw. It’s a dual bevel 10 inch slider that I bought so I could cut some boards to lay under a shed. I’ve also used it for some fine trim work and hope to use it for some furniture building. It is dead-on accurate and doesn’t need to be readjusted unless you change the blade. ...

Very pleased with the DeWalt DWS779 sliding compound miter saw

Very pleased with the DeWalt DWS779 sliding compound miter saw

03-14-2018 03:20 PM by garageking | 13 comments »

After much research including reading the many reviews online for this particular saw, I opted to buy the DeWalt DWS779 sliding compound miter saw. It came down to that or the Bosch glide model. Since the DeWalt was only 349.00 (Acme tools) I decided against the Bosch. I also made the decision that I didn’t really need the LED light guide (200.00 more for the DWS 780).I sold my old Ridgid non slider quickly on C/L. That saw had served me well but what an upgrade! I love the DeWalt s...

Very satisfied with this saw and it's features

Very satisfied with this saw and it's features

As we all know there are many good miter saws on the market and many models from any one manufacturer. I haven’t used or tested all or any of them, so I can only tell you my experience with this one and the one that it replaced. My last miter saw was a Bosch sliding miter saw with a 12” cut width and with a battery powered laser cut line and work light. I liked this saw, but it had one major weakness, which is that it required a very deep cabinet (or stand if you prefer). My sh...

Irwin Miter Saw Laser Guide -- works well so far

Irwin Miter Saw Laser Guide -- works well so far

This weekend I bought and installed the Irwin Miter Saw Laser Guide onto my DeWalt Miter Saw. I’m very happy with it so far. It was easy to install It projects a crisp clean line to the left of the blade (unless your blade retaining nut is on the right of the blade) It is very helpful with complex cuts or cutting complex material It is less helpful with straight cuts on square material (it’s easier for you to know where the blade will be cutting in this regard) It was c...

Ridgid Miter Saw stand doesn't disappoint

Ridgid Miter Saw stand doesn't disappoint

01-14-2013 03:18 PM by slopjock78 | 11 comments »

This is my first review, so here we go…... So i was looking to upgrade my miter saw stand from my trusty Ryobi Stand. I have to admit, i was perfectly happy with that stand, and really didnt think I would be upgrading anytime soon. However, the lack of mobility with that stand finally got the better of me. I really like to have my saw very close when i’m casing out doors and windows and moving my Dewalt 10” slider and stand was getting to be too much of a hassle. I ...

Excellent Saw On a budget

Excellent Saw On a budget

Well what can I say, my wife bought me this saw for Christmas and she did an awesome job. I really like the size of the saw 10” is just what I need, also the Laser Trac system is extremely helpful. It came with a 10” 40tooth saw blade that does a great job, but if you are planning on doing detailed finished work I would get another blade. I built a mitre saw cart and all in all I couldn’t be happier./!
