Grizzly G9849 Magnetic Base/Dial Indicator Combo

Grizzly G9849 Magnetic Base/Dial Indicator Combo

I purchased one of these to fine tune my tools, mostly my table saw and miter saw. Pros:Cost. This costs less than $22 from Amazon. Comes with a plastic storage case. (TIP: Remember how it’s packed BEFORE you remove it for the first time. It’s a bear getting the lid to close if you miss this) There are two arms that you can adjust to get the dial indicator into about any position. A very strong magnet with an on off switch. Cons:There are two arms that you can adj...

Incra T-rule very nice indeed

Incra T-rule very nice indeed

A short while back I purchased the Incra 6” T-rule. it is a small piece of t-track with a precision rule attached to it. Two knobs allow you to slide the rule along the t-track to make a square out of it. The thing has scales and numbers galore and if you don’t have new eyes, then like me you may need your magnifiers. Even though, the numbers and lines are extremely crisp and clear. It has scales for 1/16”, 1/32”, and 1/64”’s The thing that makes this rule ...

wow! don't know how i got along without this

i got this digital protractor for christmas and since i got it i have used it for everything! to adjust my squares, set up tools, check glue ups! it is just a great little tool. so much for burning on the table saw for crosscuts. i found that my good square was 89.9 and thats why i was getting burning. once adjusting it to 90 with the wixey no burning at all! its just wonderful and it helps a lot too. also there are magnets on it that help in tool setup because it attracts to the blade and mi...

Always something.

Always something.

Well, it is dead on 100% accurate measured against my super square inside and out. I would give it 5 stars but falls way short in the locking department. Good for saw blades, magnet all around, (like it’s little square brother) and nice thick blades. good visible LCD, stable reading and location(not covered by blade). But have to be very careful when using it for what it was designed for that is measuring wall angles due to incredibly lousy locking mechanism.Get one if it’s on super sale.

Brass Set Up Bars - A Must Have For Your Shop

Brass Set Up Bars - A Must Have For Your Shop

These set up bars are GREAT!!! They allow you to make easy and accurate measurements. I have a couple of photos to show you. The first is the brass set up bars in action. I used them to set up the spacing in this router jointing operation. 3/8” set up bar and a 1/2” router bit yields 1/16” off each side. Couldn’t be easier. The second photo is of some boxes I made using the Oak Park router box joint jigs and the Whiteside brass set up bars. Once again, set up was a ...

Good Product, but isn't it overpriced?

Good Product, but isn't it overpriced?

So I went to an Estate Sale, and found this Starrett 12” combination square still in the original packaging with the nylon wrap, and for $20… obviously I snagged it before anyone else had the chance to even think about looking at it… I recently commented on teenagerwoodworker review of his Empire combination square. I’ve been using the Empire squares for the longest time, and had great results with them (12”,6”) they are accurate, slide fairly smooth, an...

great combination squares - at a great price

great combination squares - at a great price

these combination squares from Empire are great. they have found a specialy place in my shop also. they are very inexpensive at around 15$ for the 12” square and 7% for the 6” square. they have a lifetime warranty and are guaranteed flat and square to .oo1”. it may not be a Starret or anything but it is a great square for the price. i like the big 12” one but since i got the smaller 6” one i have found myself reaching for that one more often. it feels very nice i...

Great Guide

Great Guide

533 days ago by John Gray | 10 comments »

I have the 50” model of this All-In-One Clamp Guide and love it. It’s really nice to use when breaking down a 4’x8’ piece of sheet goods without having to manhandle it up on the table saw. I cut them up right on the tailgate of my pickup before they come into the shop. You don’t have to have the Saw Plate just hold the saw firmly against the guide. When you “set it up” for your circular saw Sharpie the offset between the blade and the saw’s shoe and you’ll not ...

Accurate to within 1/128"

Accurate to within 1/128"

I took a chance on a $29 digital caliper from Rockler. Having used other high quality caliper and micrometers before, I didn’t think it possible to buy a quality unit for that price. I was wrong, and this unit rocks. It has readouts in decimal inches, decimal mm, and fractional inches. It provides surfaces for inside, outside and depth measurement. I have used it frequently over the last several weeks and I always keep it near by when doing setups.

12" Flexible (yes) precision (no) rule

12" Flexible (yes) precision (no) rule

637 days ago by daltxguy | 10 comments »

This 12” rule came highly recommended to me. After having used the 6” rule for a long time for just about everything ( it’s the one tool that’s always in my pocket ), I wanted the 12” rule. This was no easy feat as I don’t live in the US anymore and even on my recent visit back to the US, this ruler was difficult to find in your usual big box stores and actually I never was able to track it down. ( You know you are a lumberjock when you visit hardware store...
