I’ve been honored recently to be included in a new online column for American Craft Magazine:http://americancraftmag.org/search.php?tag=134 They are accepting column submissions from any writer/crafter on the subject of ‘Why I Make,’ so anyone interested can write up a short piece and submit it for consideration. It’s great to have a magazine that supports and promotes American crafts as this one does. If you are so inclined, polish up your best work and put it o...

The September 2008 special issue of Wood magazine, titled “Best-Ever Router Tips, Tricks and Jigs” is an A-to-Z guide to using routers more effectively. For the novice, there’s a good presentation on uses for various bits. For all woodworkers, there are 34 jigs and several skill-building helps that solve some of the problems of routing, such as burnouts, chip prevention on corners. Important safety tips are also included. The magazine gives the skinny on selecting the rig...

Annoying Telemarketing calls when you don't renew

Annoying Telemarketing calls when you don't renew

I subscribed to a bunch of woodworking magazines a while ago, trying to decide which ones were worth keeping. WWJ is okay, but not a keeper. So I didn’t renew. I always liked wood magazine and the layout, projects, and articles. I just bought the new special interest “outdoor projects” copy with a garden bench on the front. Long story short the bench was not in there…. Disappointed I emailed their editor and got a response in about 15 min with an apology for the mistake and a free download of the plans for the bench. Great customer service and I think it made my decision to subscribe.FMG

Variety, Tips, Inspiration

(photo from www.canadianwoodworking.com) I always look forward to receiving my next issue of the Canadian Woodworking magazine. Each issue is filled with: several projects to complete, lots of tips skill building variety of furniture building, carving, and other woodworking techniques I think that that is my best part, that they mix the types of woodworking and do not just focus on furniture building. They also, in my opinion, cater to the skilled woodworker as well as the...
