I don’t know about you, but I have wood working magazine addiction. You could say that I am a Hoarder. Woodsmith, Shop Notes, Fine Woodworking, Wood, Etc. I always found myself remembering an article, but not remembering where to find it. So probably like everyone else, I started tagging and making notes, using annual table of contents, etc. But always seemed to take more time than what I wanted to spend, looking for the article and or information. But then, along comes Fine Wo...

Are there no women?

Are there no women?

I just received my June issue of Popular Woodworking. I have come to enjoy this magazine, propelled by Schwartz, Lang, and Huey. But I have to wonder if a bad case of the dumb ass hasn’t overtaken the editorial staff. Consider the story, “The 130 Best Books on Woodworking”. It looks like a lot of care and effort went in to compiling a list of books the staff could agree on. But then they upped the ante by going to the field, to the annointed experts for their personal favori...

I always liked wood magazine and the layout, projects, and articles. I just bought the new special interest “outdoor projects” copy with a garden bench on the front. Long story short the bench was not in there…. Disappointed I emailed their editor and got a response in about 15 min with an apology for the mistake and a free download of the plans for the bench. Great customer service and I think it made my decision to subscribe.FMG

Just a note to send a Big Thank You to Ms. DebbieP for all her work on the LJs Newsletter! If it weren’t for her ‘gleaning’ of the vast content now available on Lumberjocks, I’d miss a lot of very good postings.I really appreciate all your work, Debbie. You are doing a fantastic job with the newsletter, and I’m delighted to find it in my Inbox when it comes out. Thank You!

Hey guys, I am brand new here so I am not sure if I posted this in the right spot but I figured because there was an ability to review a magazine that this may suffice. I don’t have much to say about it except that I just picked it up off a store shelf today and it is absolutely fantastic! It goes over how to make many different styles of bookcases, tables, chairs, cabinets, chests, bureaus, beds and sideboards. It assist with creating your own design by providing assistance with...

Woodworking Magazine Survey

Woodworking Magazine Survey

Okay LJ’s – time to weigh in. . . I’ve searched around and can’t seem to find a survey/side-by-side comparison of the various woodworking magazines. I’m thinking about taking out my first subscription and find myself wondering, “So, what’s unique about “this” publication vs. “that” publication. I was wondering if those of you who have experience across a wide spectrum of woodworking magazines could describe how they stack ...

Annoying Telemarketing calls when you don't renew

Annoying Telemarketing calls when you don't renew

830 days ago by brtech | 16 comments »

I subscribed to a bunch of woodworking magazines a while ago, trying to decide which ones were worth keeping. WWJ is okay, but not a keeper. So I didn’t renew. I now get telemarketing calls from Dial America trying to get me to renew. Saying “I don’t want it” is not enough. You have to demand they take you off their list. Because you have a business relationship with WWJ if you subscribed, “Do Not Call” does not apply. I suggest you don’t sub...
