Rock Solid Jointer!

Rock Solid Jointer!

I purchased this jointer this past weekend and I have already run a few feet of white oak without any problems. Pros:The manual was easy to follow and assembly was a snap. Plenty of power. Faced 6” white oak removing a 1/16 of inch no problem Reasonable foot print for small shop. I actually went to order the 8” Jet but after talking with my dealer I realized there was no way I could handle that unit by myself (unloading and assembly) and it would take up too much floor ...

Delta Portable Jointer - so so even at $40 and with modification

Delta Portable Jointer - so so even at $40 and with modification

Bought it used off craigslist for $40. I spent about 4 hours on it getting it to what is its most usable form without major modification. I work slow, but figure you’ll probably have to spend at least half that time if you have the same problems I did…. and the other two reviewers here on LJ did too. Here’s what needed to be done: 1. shim infeed table to be coplanar with outfeed. Fortunately the tables are not warped, as far as I can tell. 2. adjust the blades to be level...

One Great Product

One Great Product

I was wanting a jointer for a long time. I was looking, but most were upwards of $400, and I am not willing to fork over that kind of money, so I opted for a cheaper, but still efficient one. I saw the Delta, but it had aluminum table, and although it looked very nice, the lightness of it didn’t make me really that happy about it. I was going to get the 4 inch craftsman jointer, when I said to myself, I will grow, I will later want the bigger version, I will be mad I made the desision t...

I recently purchased the Grizzly G0452Z jointer. It has the spiral cutterhead. Assembly was pretty easy, took about an hour. Directions were pretty good. Condition of all parts, finish, etc. was fine. The machine does an awesome job of flattening, as it is supposed to, and is very quiet (relative to the bladed versions). So, in my opinion this is a great machine. What I really want to comment on, however, is Grizzly’s customer service. This machine came in two boxes. Box 1 ...

Grizzly G0656 8" jointer a good buy.

Grizzly G0656 8" jointer a good buy.

Late last winter i had a friend who flew down from here in Alaska to the lower 48 to pick up a truck he had purchased. He was driving it back up and was going through Washington so I had him stop by the Grizzly Warehouse to pick up a few things for me. One was the Grizzly G0656 8”x72” jointer with mobile base that they had for $795. When my buddy arrived we backed his truck into the shop and using some pipes and a rope tackled slid the box containing the jointer table (the heav...

There are plenty of reviews of the G0656 8” 3HP jointer on here, but the reviews seem mixed, so I thought I would add another, since I find this site extremely useful. THE GOOD: - It works as advertised. It gets my stock smooth and flat on one side and nicely square. - Pretty easy to finely adjust the tables and fence.- Price can’t be beat for length of beds and quality of fence system- Dust chute seems well designed and picks up the majority of shavings- On/off switch is ...

My new machine arrived nicely packaged. No complaints about missing parts or damage. Was actually not too heavy to move into the basement with the help of two friends. Assembly took a little while – the harder part being aligning and tightening the belt. In fact, I think my belt is still too loose, as at start-up and shut-down the machine makes a bit more noise than I’ve read others with the same machine were able to achieve. Fit and finish on the machine is adequate- on the pa...

i really needed to get a tool like this into my shop, and i am very happy to state this is my first jointer, and mighty nice tool indeed! i am very spoiled to have something this nice at my disposal! Grizzly was selling these units as blem’s through their eBay storefront. the cost savings was substantial and it was stated that the paint was uneven, blotchy, and not up to Grizzly standards. the tool still carried a full factory warranty on all parts other than the paint finish. I deci...

Review of Grizzly 12" Jointer G609X With Sprial Cutter Head (Grizzly)

Review of Grizzly 12" Jointer G609X With Sprial Cutter Head (Grizzly)

The big machine was unloaded with a fork lift using straps under the beds. Grease was present mainly on the beds and fence and was removed with a single edge razor blade and WD-40. It was moved to position using ½” water pipe and two people. I have since built a rollerbase which is pictured; and also added a Wixley digital planer height gauge to it which is also pictured. Out of the box it required a little tweaking of the tables. The outfeed was a few thousandths out of level with the c...

I lucked into the closeout deal at Woodcraft where it was being sold for $150. Shipping was $75. As I live in an apartment in NYC, I had it delivered to my sister’s house as she has both a garage and an SUV I could borrow to get it to my shop which is in Pennsylvania. It was shipped the same day and it arrived in three business days. I was concerned about how I would get it out of the truck, but the shipper had a liftgate and it was no problem. The best news was that it fit in my car: ...
