How could they even sell this?

How could they even sell this?

I was very excited to order this. A 10” Jointer/Planer for only $420? That’s a great deal! And it’s a JET! Well, when it arrived, it looked like the box had been through hell. The top and bottom flaps were opened, the stand was missing, and all the nuts, bolts and washers were scattered all over the place. I was ok with the missing stand, since I had an extra stand from an old Delta table saw I can use. I just had to make sure none of the other parts were missing....

YES, the Global Knives fit the PM 54A

YES, the Global Knives fit the PM 54A

There have been several threads concerning replacement knives for the Powermatic 54A longbed 6” jointer..1) the Global Tooling knives fit2) they were shipped in record time (even with the Holidays)3) they were well packaged4) they were insanely cheap5) 5 stars You are seeing that price correctly. I mean, shipping su*ks but what are you gonna do. Wait for a multiple knife order and it’ll be less painful. I am very impressed with this company, and that’s hard to...

Good product, but need beter quality controls

Good product, but need beter quality controls

In my quest to become a better woodworker, i decided it was time to purchase some tools to upgrade my shop (aka Garage). With a few projects under my belt, i decided to quit paying the local Big Box astronomical prices for their s4s lumber and go and get myself a jointer and planer. After browsing numerous sites and reading reviews i opted for the Grizzly GO452 and GO505 would fit my needs as a beginner woodworker. This review will be only of the G0452 jointer as i have yet to put the plan...

Martin T54 Jointer

Martin T54 Jointer

My old 20” jointer had broken table height controls and bed sagged about .05 inch which made straight cuts impossible. every cut was convex. The Company (Cassedi-Italian) was shut down for retooling and told me it would be over a year for new parts. I then looked around for a replacement. The best unit I found was a Martin model T54 20” jointer I work with a lot of wider lumber and refuse to cut it into strips. The jointer arrived from N. Carolina and waswell crated with no ...

01. ShippingPlaced order on 12/8 and it was shipped out on 12/9. It arrived 60 miles south from me on 12/10. I had to wait at the earliest to 12/14 to get it. Driver didn’t contact me so I had to wait until 12/16 to get it. UPS driver helped me haul it 80 feet into my garage. Both boxes did not have any dings or holes in themat all. The driver told me they were extra careful with my package. Shipment weighed in at 582 lbs and the jointer fence was a bear to haul I can say that. ...

The Blue Elephant In The Room

The Blue Elephant In The Room

When I decided to upgrade to a 12 Inch Jointer at the end of 2010 I researched many brands and models. Usual suspects like Powermatic, Delta, Grizzly, General, Shop Fox and even some of the Euro models at the urging of a respected colleague. The Euros were way out of my price range (I refuse to take out a loan to buy a machine as my colleague suggested). While researching the remaining brands I found this video of an Oliver on youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKMxIY0iGlw . The Oliver Machi...

Square it up!

Square it up!

Why this oneI was building my shop doors and getting frustrated with the dimensional clear redwood. I tried to make a router table style jointer with a shimmed outfeed but that did not work. I got the go ahead for a jointer, did a little research and settled on the Grizzly. With delivery it was around $800. I have the standard blade system though I have heard great things about the spiral cutter head. Set upThe saw comes in two boxes. The stand is not heavy at all. The bed and motor ...

Steel City 6" Industrial Parallelogram Jointer

Steel City 6" Industrial Parallelogram Jointer

I purchased this at the March Woodworking Show in Chantilly, VA. I had been looking for a jointer for some time. At one point this was listed for $999 but since they have decided to drop this from their line, I picked it up for $499 with an extra set of knives thrown in the deal. The equipment was picked up at the show (Skarie was the distributer) and came in two boxes. One is the cabinet the other the jointer bed assembly. The boxes showed no damage so I felt fairly certain that everythin...

Outstanding Jointer

Outstanding Jointer

1160 days ago by Troy | 16 comments »

Got this last week. Arrived in perfect condition, the base in its own box and the upper part in a birch plywood crate. No issues at all with assembly. Used the recommended plug and fired it up. Had to call to find out what the belt deflection was supposed to be cause the manual was a bit older. This thing is a beast. My first use of the machine resulted in a rather pleasant result. I face jointed/planed a 8” wide board of ash which was not flat at all. I fed it through the helical cutter...
