Great little Jointer

Great little Jointer

I decided last night that I could not live without a jointer for a gate project I am working on but did not want to spend the money on a larger jointer as my wife just started her own business last year so I did some searching and came across this little guy on sale at sears. Regularly $209 but on sale online for $169.57 right now. got it home and set up was a breeze. It was also easy to get the granite fences nice and true.Within about 45 minutes I was jointing boards and so far it works ...

Good jointer for a small workshop

Good jointer for a small workshop

Got this after waiting quite a while for one to come in.I have a 2-car garage and not enough room for a floor-standing jointer. So I had been looking for a good quality jointer that I could use in a small space. Out of the box. Not bad. An awful lot of plastic bags with parts, but once I got started it only took about 1/2 hour to assemble. The directions were pitiful. Perhaps from an older model? I gave up on them quickly. It’s not difficult to figure everything out. Th...

Poor quality and even worse costomer service

Poor quality and even worse costomer service

Got this unit home and uncrated after it took 3 weeks to get from Laguna. When I ordered it the unit was on the floor ready to ship and when it was all said and done it hadn’t cleared customs yet. First thing that I noticed is that the plug on the end of the power cord was only rated for 15 amps. This unit has a 4hp motor so I thought that was underrated. It didn’t matter to me though I had already planned to cut the end off and put one on that matched my set-up with locking plugs. It ...

8 x 72 3HP Jointer from Santa

8 x 72 3HP Jointer from Santa

Santa ( aka Blondie ) was good to me again this year. I have been using a Delta 6 inch Table Top Jointer for yrs. As most of you know that can be a challenge when doing 8 foot boards. After a lot of research we decided on this one with the normal cutter head. Cpl buddies say the Helix can leave lines in the wood. Think this might be myth truthfully, however I can always up grade later if I feel I need to. I have been using the blade method for ever and it has worked fine for me. I thought ...

First off, writing this review to me is like admitting in front of all my friends that I bought and really like the new Justin Bieber album. It’s a “piece of crap direct drive tiny useless toy”. I have actually said those words to other people considering this. So why did I get it? Well for one, I have grown to like handtools. I don’t have room for another giant (expensive) 220v power hungry piece of cast iron. I have a few planes including a stanley jointer and I a...

Maybe it's just me but I don't like this one

Maybe it's just me but I don't like this one

Bought this 6” Delta benchtop jointer a few months ago for my shop. I choose the benchtop version because of limited space and the fact that most of my projects are small, boxes, clocks, etc. I think that I have made a mistake on this one, I have had several problems with it. The first thing I noticed was that the outfeed table had a dip on the end farthest from the blades. I brought it to the authorized factory repair center and they replaced the outfeed table. Since then, I have ...

An Inexpensive and Space Efficient Combination Jointer/Planer

An Inexpensive and Space Efficient Combination Jointer/Planer

10-02-2009 12:28 AM by Thomas Keefe | 24 comments »

About a year ago, I took my first woodworking class (at the age of 51!). It was the first time I had actually used a jointer or a planer. Up to this point I had always purchased S2S lumber and been limited by whatever HD had to offer. After using both of these in class, I decided I needed to be able to do this at home. However, I have a very small workshop (10’ x 10’) and a limited budget. There was no way that they would both fit and no way my wife would let me buy them. So a ben...

Bought this a couple of months ago, and I’m not sorry I did. For most of my projects, the capacity of this jointer is perfect. Plus I doesn’t take up to much space with the 4 foot bed( Important for a small shop). First let me tell you this thing was set to the tee right from the factory. The bed and fence are dead flat with out the slightest hint of twist. The angles on the fence postive stops are dead to rights. I checked to make sure the knives were set right, and they were pe...

NEW POWERMATIC PJ882

NEW POWERMATIC PJ882

12-10-2013 09:45 PM by jeffk726 | 22 comments »

After finally giving up on Delta to turn things around, I decided to purchase the PJ882 model during the Thanksgiving sale promotion. After scouring the internet for recent reviews, I decided to move forward with this purchase as there really were no new positive or negative reviews. I deemed the lack of negative reviews as a good thing. After receiving my jointer 1 week after purchase, I was excited to get it up and running. First came the uncrating. The packaging was adequate as th...

Decent benchtop jointer

Decent benchtop jointer

03-12-2010 07:26 AM by Bryan_M | 22 comments »

I’ve been needed a jointer but I work out of my garage and don’t have anymore room for bigger tools. I read good reviews about other bench top jointers and read that Geetech actually manufactured most of them. I was unable to find any of the others (Craftsman, Sunhill, etc) and found that Woodworkers supply has these Geetech jointers in stock. I think I paid around $150 after shipping. It was delivered quickly and packaged very nicely in thick foam. It is a little heavy to ...
