Black & Decker JS660 Type 1 Jig saw

Well I got this Jig Saw at Ace Hardware and I am very pleased. I saw that it came with a 2 year warranty. I also saw its reviews which where all 4-5 stars! Another thing that struck me was how many features it had. After I un boxed it I felt it and it felt very well built. I ran some tests and it cut all types of wood with ease! It can make fairly sharp turns and the cuts are pretty clean. So if you are looking for a new Jig saw any time soon please consider this one!

A Bad Rap

A Bad Rap

I’m going out on a limb here. I’m going against the grain (pun intended)I’ve seen the reviews here on the “Blade Runner”, and I have to say it’s gotten a bad rap.I have been out of town, and when I got home, I decided to go into Woodcraft and nosy around. I saw the Bladerunner on display and thought about my past idea of mounting my Bosch jig saw upside down to a board, to be interchanged with my router, on my router table. This looked like a viable altern...

Can't believe how smoothly this jigsaw cuts

Can't believe how smoothly this jigsaw cuts

For years I had a Skil jigsaw, a hack tool if there ever was one. I got in the habit of always cutting well outside the line and then sanding down to the line because of the roughness of the cut, no matter the blade or cutting mode on that machine. I found this Bosch on the CPO website for about $95 18 months ago. The first thing I noticed was how big and hefty it was compared to the Skil I think that helps stabilize it on cuts. I’ve mainly used it for rough work. Yesterday I ...

I got this for $15, and i over paid. It doesn’t hold onto the blades because they keep falling out no matter how much I tighten the set screws. It doesn’t cut straight. Now, it doesn’t even work. I think I didn’t have it for 6 months when it stopped working. Well, sometimes it works when I slam it against a concrete surface, hard. So if you have one project you need a jigsaw for, but you don’t need super accurate cuts, this would be fine. It’s $20 ...

Older Jigsaw

Older Jigsaw

I bought this jigsaw about 3 months ago. The model is no longer available new, but after visiting 5 stores I was able to find this older model on display. I wanted the 1590evsk, because there have been so many reviews done on this model I knew it would meet my needs. As you see in the picture I bought a couple blades to go with the saw. This guy on e=bay puts up 89 blades a week on e=bay auction and I bought all these blades for 65 bucks. I even got a blade for cutting leather and rubber. ...

Probably the best $40 I've spent on a tool

Probably the best $40 I've spent on a tool

Hey fellow LJ’s, I found myself in need of a new jigsaw as the old Skil I had been using was just impossible to dial in to make a perfect 90ยบ cut. No matter what I tried, I there would always be an angle on the inside of the cut piece and the metal blade guide started to rust, marking up my stock. I did a little research on some low priced saws (I go low price with pretty much everything) and ended up with the Ryobi JS481L 4.8 amp VS jigsaw. Overall:Very powerful, excellent cu...

Bosch Jigsaw 1590EVSK - It is a sweet tool

Bosch Jigsaw 1590EVSK - It is a sweet tool

This is one of the best tools I think I have bought. I had a cheap Sears jigsaw for years and only used it when I had to. This baby is a joy to use. The T-style blades are just clipped in place and eject with the press of a button. Blade changing is almost fun, no more allen wrenches. The variable speed trigger is very easy to control. The blade rides up and down guided by a set of V shaped ball bearings which hold the blade true (these can be flipped out of the way if wanted). The pow...

A mind of its own

A mind of its own

This is a tool I wish I never would have purchased. I would have prefered to get by using a coping saw and dealing with a blister or thirty. This tool generates such a level of frustration that it is amazing that the same engineers who design Dewalt, Porter Cable, and Delta could allow such a monstrosity to leave the lab. This particular unit has a quick blade release, variable speed, variable orbital action and an adjustable base. The quick blade release does release the blade quickly ...

What a fantastic saw

Overall impressionsI only wanted to buy a jigsaw once, so I bought the best I could afford the first time. This was it. $160 at the CPO Bosch website when I bought it a few months ago. I think it’s down to $145 at amazon now. I’ve been using the saw for a few months now, and have to say that I’m very glad I bought this rather than some of the others I’ve looked at. This saw seems to have power to spare in every task I’ve thrown at it, up to and including 2&#...

As many of you know, I can’t get to the shop much nowadays due to health issues, but LJs is my daily visit place where I can keep up with all the great posts and projects and also have some fun to make my day.Anyway, I was thinking about how I could contribute something of real value, so I decided to review tools that I did use when back in the shop. This review is on the Rockwell Blade Runner which I purchased for less than $100 a while back and used it. The unit is light, only 23lbs...
