Rockler and others have this tool to sharpen your mortise chisels. Trust me they don’t come sharpl
Lee Vally has just the sharpening cones for $7.95 a better buy than Rockler.
It’s a cone with diamond sharpening grits on the edge. The picture doesn’t show but it does come with 2 grit sizes, course and fine. I placed the diamond cone in my drill press and lightly brought it into the inside of the mortise chisel Ligntly do that until you get all edges of the chisel sharp...

I had been looking at this mortiser for sale by Wilke Tools in PA. It was being sold at $245 plus shipping. And then one time I went looking again and they had it for sale at $185.00 I ordered it.
It didn’t come with any chisels. What sets this mortiser apart from others for a reasonable price is that it has an X, Y and Z alignment.
The table as shown in the two pictures moves from left to right about 7” so you can cut a 7” mortise without loosing the grip on the piece...

Bought the Steel City Mortiser today on the way home from work. link to tool store Mueller
Assembly, no problems … intuitive design
Came with 4 bits and chisels. Black and white, printed boxes exactlly the same as came with my old Delta.
Pros: Fence looks real good. Nice design. Fine adjustment knob is a plus. Worked good.Big table base , easy to fasten to work bench. Very stable.Pull out, cast iron table extensions go to about 36 inches. Solid fit.I thought the $289 price was ...

I purchased this machine after reading a lot of top reviews. My inital take on the machine was it is pretty well made. However, when I went to set it up, the instructions were very lacking…there were several steps missing, and they did not even address how to attach the upper work hold down clamp. After l looking closely at the pictures on the web, I finally figured out how to install it.

The bottom line: This machine works, but you must watch out for several things, common to all mortisers of this type, as I already have pointed out on my recent blog posts.
The weak link: The fence. It recently gave me many headaches, as the inside edges of the fence halves did not align properly – in the photo, Edge #1 and Edge #2. This resulted in misalignment of stiles to rails, something that should NOT happen. I probably did something to cause this, or maybe just sitting by a wi...
