Rikon 10-325-14" Band saw

Rikon 10-325-14" Band saw

I bought this saw back in March from Canadian woodworker in Surrey. The prices at the Grizzly plant are very attractive, but these folks are about 10 min from my place. Doug and his crew are a great bunch of guys. It was on sale for $850 and then I drew a card from a hat and that had a further discount of between $25 – $500. I pulled a $50 card. I got the saw home with no problems, a bit heavy but manageable. Lots and Lots of packaging and styrofoam. There was a good coating of g...

Wood Slicer Band saw Blade

Wood Slicer Band saw Blade

06-23-2013 01:29 PM by Tom Godfrey | 19 comments »

For months I have been thinking about buying this band saw blade and like everything else I read or hear I never know if its someone blowing smoke up my rear end or really do what they claim. In the case of the wood slicer blade all that is told or written is true or it is for me. I have a Rigid band saw with a six inch height and I have had it for years but never use it that much because I couldn’t get it to do what I wanted. After getting the wood slicer it’s almost like I ...

When It's Working... It's Great

When It's Working... It's Great

I bought this saw in September 2012 and have used it extensively since then and feel that it’s time for a review, especially after the most recent incident. First of all when the saw is working correctly it is great. I get great looking resaws with both 1/2” and 3/4” blades. I have not used it for many curves such as you would do for a bandsaw box so I won’t evaluate it there. I setup the saw based on the instructions in this video why Grizzly does not outline ...

Baileigh WBS-14

Baileigh WBS-14

I’m new to LumberJocks but recently won the Baileigh sponsored contest at woodworkingtalk. I’ve read many reviews on this site and thought I would contribute my thoughts on the Baileigh WBS-14 that I selected as the grand prize. I made a video review to go along with this written review. Packaging: The band saw was well packed and arrived without damage. The crating is sturdy and there‚Äôs plenty of filler foam to keep the saw from moving in the crate. The WBS-14 includes:...

Some issues/ Gloat

Some issues/ Gloat

I just picked this up yesterday. I have been previously using the 10” version but have been looking to upgrade to a 14”. I have been very happy with the 10” and think everything about the fit, finish and performance is great (within its 1/3 hp capacity). I been watching craigslist (Chicago area) and good 14” saw at a good price have been fairly elusive. I stumbled upon searsoutlet.com which lists all their returns/refurbs/open box items. They had this one at 279.00 plu...

Craftman's newest 14" bandsaw

Craftman's newest 14" bandsaw

-My rating is mostly based on Price and build Quality. -These are first impressions only. I will report back after a while of use. -Notice from the pics, the similarities of the Professional model and regular. I’ve basically been out of the woodworking game this whole past year. I restored a Belsaw-Foley planer (craftsman branded) and not much else. Unfortunately, I sold the planer for peanuts, and I ended up selling a bunch of my other tools. I actually have done more to...

Thanks for reading this review. I hope you’ll find useful informations and it will help you to make your choice.I’ve bought this saw used from a very kind guy in Ontario. I’ve taken the chance to buy it without beingable to do a test drive or even to see it. But I had a good feeling. And I was right.I am not sure if this exact model is still available in Canada but I’ve seen some clones under different brands. This saw is pretty amazing. Look at the specs:20” ...

Great 14 inch Saw for the price

Great 14 inch Saw for the price

03-28-2013 03:15 PM by Joe Watson | 8 comments »

Ive only Had the saw since the end of February but what use I have gotten out of it was wonderful. This saw came with roller bearing guides and a 1hp motor both features I was looking at. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was I felt like some of the guards from the blade near where the lower guides are needs a redesign because they tend to bend and get in the way after I change the blade. Also not sure what the easiest way is to change the blade because the fence guides get in the wa...

Craftsman 14" Bandsaw - Nice product for the price

Craftsman 14" Bandsaw - Nice product for the price

02-12-2013 08:50 PM by dustyal | 25 comments »

After reading reviews, I went with the Craftsman 14” Bandsaw… driven by price, $340 and convenience of pick up. So, no delivery charge and in Delaware we have no sales tax… so that was the price… $339.99. Set up was easy. The box weighs only 170 pounds… easy enough for neighbor and myself to get down flight of stars to basement. Packaging was great.. no problem. I set up the stand, and then made a small cart with wheels for it. This saw does not come ...
