Grizzly GO555LX 14" Deluxe Bandsaw

Grizzly GO555LX 14" Deluxe Bandsaw

Well, I have had this band saw for several months now and I am in love with it. I love the cast iron wheels, rack and pinion upper blade guide adjustment, and a T-square style fence. Smooth operation, no vibration, cuts like butter (new blade). I have cut everything from pine to cherry and walnut and no bogging down, no hesitations. It’s a joy to use and a huge step up from my 9” band saw that I had. LOL! I haven’t tried to re-saw yet, but that day is coming soon. ? Assembly ...

The Ultimate Bandsaw???Hmmmm.

The Ultimate Bandsaw???Hmmmm.

Well, I would have actually given this machine 4.5 stars but that is not an option. I no longer have this bandsaw but while I had it I did enjoy using it. I had a very early issue with the blade tension device but that was operator error and soon rectified by the helpful folks at Grizzly. My only complaint about this bandsaw is the crappy rubber tires. Any blade under a 1/2 inch just would not track well. I tried everything I could think of, checked that the wheels were coplanar, that there w...

Grizzly G0555LANV - 30 Year Anniversary Edition

Grizzly G0555LANV - 30 Year Anniversary Edition

I bought the anniversary edition of the popular G0555. 100% pleased with this saw. Absolutely zero complaints. The fit and finish is flawless. The base is strong. All blade guide and table adjustments are easily adjusted. I can change a blade in about 30 seconds with the quick tension release. It has a blade tension gauge as well. 4” dust collection hose port in the lower rear works great. The motor is strong. I wrote a longer, picture filled article about the saw that you can read here

Parts Manufactured Incorrectly

Parts Manufactured Incorrectly

I purchased the band saw from Harbor Freight in Bellevue, WA. store (store number 00279) on 7/27/2013. While assembling the band saw, I found that on step 2 of the assembly (page 6 of the manual), the supporting plate (4) was machined incorrectly. The holes did not line up with the holes on the motor plate (7) or with the holes on the base plate(6). I returned the saw twice, only to find that the part in each box was identical to the part in the first box and drilled incorrectly. The st...

Rikon 10-325-14" Band saw

Rikon 10-325-14" Band saw

I bought this saw back in March from Canadian woodworker in Surrey. The prices at the Grizzly plant are very attractive, but these folks are about 10 min from my place. Doug and his crew are a great bunch of guys. It was on sale for $850 and then I drew a card from a hat and that had a further discount of between $25 – $500. I pulled a $50 card. I got the saw home with no problems, a bit heavy but manageable. Lots and Lots of packaging and styrofoam. There was a good coating of g...

Wood Slicer Band saw Blade

Wood Slicer Band saw Blade

396 days ago by Tom Godfrey | 19 comments »

For months I have been thinking about buying this band saw blade and like everything else I read or hear I never know if its someone blowing smoke up my rear end or really do what they claim. In the case of the wood slicer blade all that is told or written is true or it is for me. I have a Rigid band saw with a six inch height and I have had it for years but never use it that much because I couldn’t get it to do what I wanted. After getting the wood slicer it’s almost like I ...

When It's Working... It's Great

When It's Working... It's Great

I bought this saw in September 2012 and have used it extensively since then and feel that it’s time for a review, especially after the most recent incident. First of all when the saw is working correctly it is great. I get great looking resaws with both 1/2” and 3/4” blades. I have not used it for many curves such as you would do for a bandsaw box so I won’t evaluate it there. I setup the saw based on the instructions in this video why Grizzly does not outline ...

Baileigh WBS-14

Baileigh WBS-14

I’m new to LumberJocks but recently won the Baileigh sponsored contest at woodworkingtalk. I’ve read many reviews on this site and thought I would contribute my thoughts on the Baileigh WBS-14 that I selected as the grand prize. I made a video review to go along with this written review. Packaging: The band saw was well packed and arrived without damage. The crating is sturdy and there’s plenty of filler foam to keep the saw from moving in the crate. The WBS-14 includes:...

Some issues/ Gloat

Some issues/ Gloat

I just picked this up yesterday. I have been previously using the 10” version but have been looking to upgrade to a 14”. I have been very happy with the 10” and think everything about the fit, finish and performance is great (within its 1/3 hp capacity). I been watching craigslist (Chicago area) and good 14” saw at a good price have been fairly elusive. I stumbled upon searsoutlet.com which lists all their returns/refurbs/open box items. They had this one at 279.00 plu...
