A nice bandsaw

A nice bandsaw

654 days ago by Mike Lingenfelter | 13 comments »

Grizzly calls this the “Ultimate” bandsaw. That’s a bold statement to live up to. I own many Grizzly tools and I’m very happy with all of them. This is a really good bandsaw but I can’t call it the Ultimate. There are a few changes that would push into the Ultimate category. First, I’m not that happy with the fence. It looks nice, but it does have a bit of play in it. When I clamp it down the far end will move sometimes. I have to keep a close eye o...

Powermatic PM1800 18" Bandsaw

Powermatic PM1800 18" Bandsaw

8 days ago by RobWoodCutter | 5 comments »

Apoligies for the long post but here goes. History: About a 1-1/2 year ago I picked up a Steel City 18” bandsaw from the local Woodcraft and about a year ago also picked up a Powermatic 14” bandsaw. The intent was to use the SC as a resaw machine and the PM for the balance of the tasks. Have been happy with both of them. I had been stocking up on rough saw boards, many wider than the SC could resaw. So I started looking around and reading everything I could find on the web o...

Rikon 10-325 14-inch bandsaw

Rikon 10-325 14-inch bandsaw

Rikon makes a great product for a particular market segment. That segment fits between the lesser-expensive Steel City 50100 and the Grizzly (G0555x, not the G0457 which is priced similarly) crowd and the more expensive Powermatic, General, Delta, and of course, Laguna. So, the simple question: How often will you use the bandsaw to realize the gains in quality and performance if you spend that extra money? For myself the bandsaw is not the key component in my woodworking, though it shoul...

Great bang for the buck!

Great bang for the buck!

NOTE This review is NOT dealing with a stock saw, the saw in question has been fitted with the following updates. #1. Central Machinery Riser Block Kit. #2. Craftsman Professional Universal Band Saw Fence. #3. Suffolk Machinery Timberwolf 1/2” 3 TPI blade. #4. Iturra tension spring. #5. Accu-Link link belts. (Harbor Freight). The Central Machinery Model 32208 4 speed 14” band saw, and its single speed sibling the 32206 (only difference appears to be the pulley setup), can be...

I've got a problem with this saw

I've got a problem with this saw

110 days ago by 45acpbuilder | 19 comments »

It’s so darn quiet I’m afraid I’ll walk off and leave it running! I added a little flag to the tensioner so I won’t turn it on with the blade loose. Seems someone, Grizzly themselves maybe, could add this to their saws with out any problem. It’s just a bead chain tied to the tension lever and a 1/4” bolt tapped into the arm behind the switch so the tension lever lifts the flag so it blocks the start switch. The saw blade squealed when resawing so I ran ...

Lumberjocks makes another great recommendation!

Lumberjocks makes another great recommendation!

I can’t really offer a great review because this is actually the first band saw I’ve ever used, literally. After reading the reviews on this web-site I was sold on this saw, There’s one that cost about 200 dollars more that has a brake and a shopfox type base. I also took the advice and ordered a Woodslicer blade from Highland woodworking. I can’t express enough how amazing that woodslicer blade seems. The Woodslicer made me go from “This is cool, I have a nice b...

Quality Machine, Quality Customer Service, Highly Recommended!

Quality Machine, Quality Customer Service, Highly Recommended!

I received some appletree logs from someone on craigslist, and was contemplating how I can get them into project lumber. I had looked around for small mills, but it wasn’t really worth it since I only have a few smaller logs… then it got me to think, maybe I can do it myself… hence started the interest in bandsaws. the more I researched about it, the more I was fascinated by the capabilities of a bandsaw and all the things it can do. I have a fairly limited budget, and so...

Grizzly Band Saw G0513x2

Grizzly Band Saw G0513x2

327 days ago by Hawkster | 5 comments »

Just purchased the go513×2, picked it up myself at the Muncy store as I only live an hour away, be prepared as it comes almost fully assembled, bring a lot of rope, the guys in the loading dock very helpful, as they laid it down on it’s spleen for me. Also purchased the shop fox mobile base, and listened to a few friends, and purchased the timberwolf blades.I have owned a lot of band saws, as I do a lot of re-sawing, but I have to admit, this one put a smile on my face. Cutting ...
