Laguna Tools 14/12 initial review.

Hello,This is my initial review of the Laguna 14/12 bandsaw. I earlier owned the Grizzly G0555 Extreme which I sold. I pondered getting another Grizzly and found the Laguna on sale at Rockler. BY the time I was done with replacing parts on the Grizzly to reach the Laguna as it came stock I was already over the sale price so that rapidly changed my mind. I remember my old Grizzly was always a little slow on cutting but I didn’t really have any issues with it. There are some changes to th...

Good bandsaw for a small shop

Good bandsaw for a small shop

I wanted a small bandsaw to cut some curved parts from time to time. When I saw this one at Menards for just $229 it just had a look of being solid and the right thing for my small garage shop. The table is cast iron, and the housing is heavy duty steel and the motor appears to be a sealed 1/2 hp motor. You can see the specs at Menards site. Assembly was pretty easy, but I did not choose to assemble the stand. The directions are pretty typical – you have to read carefully twice ...

First impressions of the Anniversary Edition G0555 14" Band Saw

First impressions of the Anniversary Edition G0555 14" Band Saw

After nursing along my Dads old Craftsman 12” band saw, I was really looking forward to getting my new saw. After much research and pricing I had settled on the G0555LANV 14” for a number of reasons. It had a 1 HP motor where several others in the price range were 3/4HP. It had a cast iron frame and table instead of cast aluminum and stamped steel. The wheels were cast iron instead of cast aluminum and it had two speeds. But one of it’s biggest selling features to me was the...

Im currently in the process of assembling my 513 I had a Rikon 10-345 but sold it. From my observations so far the Grizzly has bigger bearings say by 2x better welds more even beads where as the Rikon has runny balled up welds smoother height adjustment blade disengage much smoother Rikon was kinda hard to engage bigger better looking motor better lookin cast iron top also has a magnetic switch, Rikon does not have this I learned that the hard way after plugging in the sa...

Happy so far, expecting it to stay so.

Happy so far, expecting it to stay so.

A bandsaw had been on my wish list for a number of years. I had been planning on getting a Rikon 10-325. In February, I heard about the Laguna 1412. While the Rikon was a couple hundred dollars cheaper, I was expecting to want to immediately replace the guides for the difference in price, plus some, it then became a no-brainer. And the Laguna had a mobility kit designed for the saw while the Rikon would need a third party set of wheels. When Woodcraft offered a free worklight with the saw,...

Great Saw but Assembly was Quirky

Great Saw but Assembly was Quirky

This is my first band saw so perhaps this may not be the best review, but with that in mind I will proceed anyway. I had been looking at bandsaws for a while, and was trying to find one that I thought would fit my needs now and into the future. I just could not justify a benchtop saw as those are not well suited for resawing, but I also wanted to stay in a reasonable budget. Ultimately it came down to this one and the Ridgid. I chose this saw over the orange one due to the closed base which h...

Laguna Tools 14/12 Bandsaw

Laguna Tools 14/12 Bandsaw

To star off I only gave it 5 stars because Lumberjocks wont let me go higher. I just got the Laguna Tools 14 12 Bandsaw and it took just shy of a month to get everything. The bandsaw was back ordered and I was told their blade machine was down. Talked with their customer service and had no issues with the status. They also told me because of were I live and the 0 degree highs we have been having they told me when I do get the saw untension the blade as they have had reports of the cold weathe...

Laguna LT16 HD review-from unpack to.....

I am new to Lumberjocks and wanted to share information regarding this bandsaw because I found only a few posts on the model when I was doing my research and decision making. May I start with John Carrasco at Laguna Tools. I contacted him regarding a demo model and was going to initially purchase a LT16 3000 series. Then I did some looking around and thought I was going to change to the LT14SUV. You see the LT14SUV has resaw capacity of 14” and a 3HP motor, the LT16 3000 series ha...

Laguna LT18 3000 Bandsaw - Very Solid Saw

Laguna LT18 3000 Bandsaw - Very Solid Saw

I have read so many reviews trashing Laguna that I had a hard time buying one of their tools. However, after doing a ton of research I ended up buying the LT18 3000. I did a ton of sifting through various options. Almost bought a Rikon 18, Minimax S45 ( just waiting to hear the barrage of you should have bought the MM16 the mystical beast of all bandsaws ) and also took a hard look at the Felder N4400. Anyway, the wife liked the Laguna we saw at Woodcraft and that always makes things easi...

New saw

New saw

12-28-2013 03:16 PM by John Lowell | 15 comments »

Santa is a good person. Saw into my heart, noted the good fella inside and delivered what is now, without doubt, the highest quality tool in my shop. He left the unit in the store, only asking that I pick it up, load and unload it into the truck, muscle it down into the shop, unpack it, assemble, and tune it up. And that is a lot of work. It weighs 240 lbs.It is hard to move and assemble by one’s self. Kids did not buy the Santa story. Assembly by one who has never really use...
