One irritating flaw

One irritating flaw

Jet appears to have just released a version that may or may not replace the saw reviewed here. Decided to place this on LJ anyhow…the new saw may gave the same flaw. JWBS-14DXPRO 14” Deluxe Band Saw Purchased this from Rockler, about a year ago. As usual ordering a drop shipment is a frustrating roller coaster. However, the package arrived in reasonable condition. Assembly was fairly straight forward. The only comment about the construction is the assembly manual is...

Small 9" bandsaw from Grizzly

Small 9" bandsaw from Grizzly

I have a 14” bandsaw, that is set up for resawing, but I needed another to make small toys. I purchased this saw this year and have used it a lot. I run 3/16” blades on it cutting small toys requiring curves. It works well and the only issue I have had is, one of the guide bearings failed. I replaced it with a sealed bearing that I bought from a local bearing shop for $7. The saw comes with shielded guide bearings, as do many saws, but sealed bearings are better. I not...

Grizzly G0457 Review

Grizzly G0457 Review

07-24-2018 01:58 AM by Wstein | 2 comments »

I recently purchased the Grizzly G0457 and let me say I have been impressed with so far. I decide a few months ago I needed a bandsaw to resaw some 6/4 and 8/4 wood I had in my shop for boxes for my nieces. I looked at several different ones, my wife even got me a small benchtop bandsaw. For the price and specs, the Grizzly G0457 stood out to me. I know for the money I spent I could have gotten a 17” model instead for a little bit more. But the G0457 had the 2hp motor, 220volt con...

Laguna 14BX 220V Bandsaw 4.5 Stars

Laguna 14BX 220V Bandsaw 4.5 Stars

OverviewI’ve had my Laguna 14bx for about 8 months now – purchased used but in very good condition to replace my Delta 14” saw with riser. This unibody style saw was a huge upgrade from the underpowered, undertensioned Delta. My main uses are for resaw, milling logs, and general shop rough cuts. I do not do any cutting of tight curves with this, so don’t expect me to talk about the time I cut 300 wooden nickels as I have not done anything of the sort. I purchased th...

My setup and initial impressions of Grizzly GO513X2

My setup and initial impressions of Grizzly GO513X2

So this is my first post on here. I’ve been on here awhile, just lurking. For a few years I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a bandsaw, it’s the only big power tool I was lacking. After some research on here and a few other sites, I decided on the Grizzly 17” saw. Ordering it was pretty painless. I was a little put off with the initial delivery process. I ordered it through Amazon. I’ve ordered a few other large power tools through amazon, and I was always immediately asked the day I wanted...

Laguna 14-12 Short & Sweet

Laguna 14-12 Short & Sweet

For some reason I’m not bright enough to figure out how to add a second episode on a blog so I’ll just post this separately. Well, finally got around to opening and assembling today. Can’t really say I had any issues. After watching and reading everything on this saw for months I knew what documented issues I had seen so I was on the lookout. I saw none of them. Here was the process.1. Assemble while following the Laguna videos. (Per a video I saw I loosened by 1/2 t...

Laguna 14|12 - Great Saw with fantastic customer service to back it up

Laguna 14|12 - Great Saw with fantastic customer service to back it up

Late in December I started to look into a few options for improving the shop, I was tossing ideas around getting a few more Festool toys and I realized I was quickly outgrowing my Craftsman 1hp 14” band saw. I was looking for a reasonably priced saw with more power and I saw that my local Rockler was not only running a special for 10% off Laguna products but that they also had the 14|12 in stock. I was strongly considering the 220v 14bx as a solid option but realized that the break was ...

Timbery Sawmill M100 Electric

Timbery Sawmill M100 Electric

12-30-2017 09:06 PM by Rebarn | 9 comments »

We have had our Timbery M100 Electric Sawmill for 5 years now. We have run this machine with a lot of respect…and not really “hard” by comparison to full time sawyers. But we have put this saw to work to make money in our shop and it has performed well for our needs of resawing large beams into lumber and mantels. It’s an electric mill, which is exactly what I needed for our shop. It has a 5HP electric motor. We have an 18 foot bed on the saw. The housing for t...

Laguna - Great Product!

We have had our Laguna bandsaw for about two years now. We use it mostly for resawing medium to small stock. We use the Resaw King carbide tip blade. All I can say is that this is a great saw and the Resaw King blade is remarkable!

A lot of saw for the money

A lot of saw for the money

Hey everybody, I’ve been lurking on here for quite a while and decided I might as well make my first post. I’ve been making a bunch of small boxes the last year or so and have been using 1/4” ply for the bottoms. I’ve been wanting to start using solid wood but 3/4” is way too bulky for that in my opinion. Also I don’t want to plane away 2/3 of a plank into chips to get to 1/4”. My conclusion to this is the get a small band saw and a planer so I ca...
