Hands down the best Table Saw DVD out there.

Hands down the best Table Saw DVD out there.

I reviewed Hendrik’s DVD (Jointer and Planer Secrets) a while ago and was very pleased with it. When Hendrik came out with a new DVD on Table Saws, I was very interested in getting. At first the price of $94.95 CDN, might seem a little high, but what you get makes it worth every penny. I really wish I had this DVD when I bought my first table saw! This is a 5 DVD set and it has almost 10 hours footage. As with his Jointer DVD set, Hendrik always focuses on safe operation of the t...

Charles Neil The Magic of Routers

Charles Neil The Magic of Routers

315 days ago by mikega | 9 comments »

The Magic of Routers is Charles Neil’s latest DVD. This is a 5 DVD set that gives you over 10 hours of instructions on everything you want to know about using a router. On disk one he reviews different routers. Then he explains some of the many different types of router bits that are available and how they are used. He then talks about the different ways to guide a router and follows that up with a discussion on hand held routing and using a router table. Although he does not tell you how ...

Master Woodworking Plans

Master Woodworking Plans

The online digital purchase of the Master Woodworking Plans turned out to be a great disappointment.Their website advertises in a very deceiving way plenty of wood working plans that in reality are just a collections of outside links to other websites in cyberspace where one has to sift through more ads to finally realize you can buy their plans. I was very disappointed since the same result can be achieved by searching in any search engine and leave this review so others might be able to r...

Review of the Video "Sam Maloof: A Fine Woodworking DVD Profile"

Wow, want to feel overwhelmed, and very inadequate? Sort of like being the last kid to get underarm hair in gym class. I am in the process of building three more Maloof-Inspired Rocking Chairs. Two for a commission, the third as a piece for speculation sale. I have been working through my notes from the last one and preparing wood, and I ran across the Sam Maloof DVD as a recommended Amazon item. You know, those annoying multi-week advertisments from Amazon that keeps track of ever...

Great DVD on the Jointer and Planer

Great DVD on the Jointer and Planer

677 days ago by Mike Lingenfelter | 10 comments »

I heard about this DVD over at Matt's Basement Workshop. I hadn’t hear of Hendrik Varju before that, but I’m glad I know about him now. His DVD on the power Jointer and Planer is one the best woodworking DVDs I’ve watched. It covers all of the techniques you need, to get the most out of your Jointer and Planer. If you are new to using these machines, I highly recommend this DVD. I wish I had had it when I first bought my Jointer and Planer. Many of the mistakes I made ...

Finishing A to Z Beyond the Books

“If you can’t finish, you can’t build” This is the comment Charles Neil made to me when I first meant him last year. By now many of you know who Charles Neil is and that he is on a mission to teach other woodworkers what he has learned from over 30 years as a professional woodworker. His latest DVD set that he just released is called Finishing A to Z Beyond the Books. As you can see from the picture above this a 10 DVD set. There is about 15 hours of information on ...

A Louis the XV Desk

I didn’t quite know where to put this so it’s going to be a short review. Today when I got home from work there was a package from Italy waiting for me. Inside were copies of the first six issues of Italy’s first magazine for woodworkers called LegnoLab and their first DVD project showing the construction of the desk in the above image. I haven’t had time to go through all six issues yet but as far as the magazines go, there is a wide variety of topics covered f...

Great DVD's - Especially for those just starting out.

As one of the prizes for the Winter 2009 contest I received a pair of DVD sets fromPassion for Wood. I wanted to give them a quick review. For those just starting out, the DVD set on Jointer and Planer Secrets would be of great value. The jointer can be a tricky tool to master and Hendrik goes into great detail on the subject. You can save a lot of money buying rough lumber and this DVD will show you how to makeusable wood from it. All in all a great 4 1/2 hour, 2 DVD set. T...
