Poor customer service at Oneida Air Systems

Poor customer service at Oneida Air Systems

I was initially happy with the product until I noticed the cardboard drum had collapsed, since then my experience with Lisa Barone and customer service for Oneida has been very disappointing. After being told the cardboard drum should not have collapsed they refused to replace it. I purchased the steel replacement drum and lid early in November, I did not receive it, 2 weeks later when I contacted Ms. Barone she told me it will ship out that day and gave me an incorrect tracking number. A mo...

My shopvac thanks me

My shopvac thanks me

I recently bit on Rockler’s sale on the Dust Right Vortex. I figured it was time to add a separator to my little Fein shopvac, considering I use the vac for all my shop’s dust collection (TS, BS, router table, drum sander, planer, etc.). I have the small model (Turbo I), so you can imagine how quickly it fills up. Up to this point, I was using it with the stock 5 micron cloth bag filter. The DR Vortex is simply a 10 gallon bucket that comes with a lid (the money part), 5 cas...

Dissapointed

I am dissapointed with my Delta 50-760 for the following reasons…1. It is too loud.2.It cannot pick up more than ten handplane shavings with out blocking all the grids inside.3.I cannot use it anywhere near my chopsaw, small offcuts have caused several dents in the case when they slam into the inner parts.4.I touch the large fabric bag and a cloud of fine dust falls, Am I breathing this stuff?

Keep children and animals away from the ports!

Finally, after many months of moving, new shop set, starting a new job, etc. I have got my Clearvue Cyclone up and running. I’ll run through a bit of my decision process leading to my purchase, then the installation, and finally its performance. Decision I had an average setup; a 1.5hp canister DC connected to a short run of 6” pipe with 4” flex hose drops to each machine. The setup worked well to capture the chips from the jointer and planer, collect the shavings from the TS c...

I recently purchased an HVLP system and wanted to buy a respirator to go with it to avoid inhaling the atomized overspray. I went with the 3M 7500 because Marc (The Wood Whisperer) did a segment on his podcast about respirators in which he recommended it. I purchased the bare respirator with no filters, then added a set of the P100 filters. The resiprator is quite lightweight and isn’t a nuisance to have on your face, which I think is important because is your safety gear is a hass...

This is a review that’s been four years in the making. GAS25 from the Bosch ‘Professional’ (blue) range. It’s a shop vac that fits onto everything, is easily transported, large capacity bag, relatively quiet in use, cable and hose a decent length, fits all my tools, keeps the air and floor clean. Everything good right? Read on. After 4 months needed replacement brushes (not covered under warranty) After 2 years control panel burnt out, uneconomical repair, unit r...

Ash Vac Attachment (Sawdust intermediate collector ?)

Ash Vac Attachment (Sawdust intermediate collector ?)

I obtained this product from ALDI, and I appreciate that they may not have outlets all over the world, but for UK (and German ?) LJs, looking for a cheap and cheerful dust collector to go before a domestic vacuum cleaner, at £14.99 this could be a useful accessory. The ports are simply positioned vertically in the top, so there is probably little cyclone effect, and the system depends on the included Herpa filter to prevent ‘nasties’ getting to the driving vacuum cleaner. But...

Dust Deputy Delux Kit

Dust Deputy Delux Kit

I received the kit today and I was excited to try this sucker out. (No pun intended….Okay maybe a little) The kit had all of the bolts, washers and nuts. It went together easily, but the directions were not perfectly clear. The only complaint of assembly is that there was not enough copper tape included to ground the system as suggested. I took the system to my shop and hooked it up to my Shop vac. The cyclone’s connections were tapered so connecting to my vac was easy. I cleaned ...

Ridgid 16 Gal Pro Vac 1851 a real good performer

Ridgid 16 Gal Pro Vac 1851 a real good performer

This weekend I went and bought a new shop vacuum. My old crappy one from Lowes was not even powerful enough to vacuum plane shavings.. I went to Home Depot and bought their most powerful one. For $159.00 it is money well invested. It comes with a 16 Gallon tank and plenty of accessories. The port is a standard 2 1/2 ” which is one the the reasons I bough it. There are adapters available to go from 2.5 to 4” and hook up to tools like a planner. This thing is a beast. The suct...
