Inexpensive Remote

After repeated problems with the remote control on my dust collector, I hit on a less costly and (so far) more reliable solution. One day I was walking through the electrical department at the local big box and saw these … they sell for $11.99. For that, you get the wireless switch that plugs into the service outlet like a wall wart and a remote control that can manage three of these devices. I bought 3 of them … use one on my air cleaner, one on my dust collector, and one o...

Woodstock International D4241 12" Cyclone Separator

Woodstock International D4241 12" Cyclone Separator

A couple weeks ago I purchased the Porter Cable table saw. One of the features is the dust port sized for a shop vac, and it works really well with my Ridged vacuum. Time for a cyclone separator, since all my sawdust will end up in the shop vac and replacing filters can be costly. There are a lot of separators available, and the price range is fairly wide. I’ve been looking a the offerings from Rockler” and ””Oneida name just a couple. There is a decent review o...

G0703P - Ignore the naysayers

Hello All, I finally upgraded to a better DC system for my shop. I had previously built a Thien Baffle for my HF DC and that worked pretty well (better than the stock HF DC) but I still had fine dust everywhere. I sold that DC before I moved last year. In setting up my new shop I decided to treat myself so I started the hunt, I knew I wanted a Cyclone from past research and I also knew the size of the duct had a large part to play in its efficiency. I did a good amount of research and n...

Oneida Super Dust Deputy

Oneida Super Dust Deputy

I have been fighting with my Oneida Pro 2000 since I bought it. Seems a lot of dust passes the cone and lands in the filter clogging it and making dust collection inefficient. So much so I have to take the filter outside at least once a week and blow it out with an air line the reinstall. For my drill press I purchased a Dust Deputy and use it on with a shop vac. It works wonderfully. There isn’t enough material that gets by the Dust Deputy to measure in the shop vac, so I conclu...

Review and Testing of a G0440 Cyclone Dust Collector

Review and Testing of a G0440 Cyclone Dust Collector

I will start by saying that I am new to LumberJocks. This is my first post and my first tool review. Like many woodworkers, I have a well equipped shop. Also like many woodworkers, I left dust collection until last. This is an unfortunate. I now realize that dust collection should be one of the first things you should consider as soon as you purchase that first tool. As much as you would like to purchase more tools to do more things, a dust collector should be considered after purchasin...

Great cyclonic dust separator

Great cyclonic dust separator

The dust deputy is a great dust separator for my Ridgid shop vac.I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because for a few reasons:1. It’s really unbalanced without a cart when you move it2. Its pretty awkward moving it unless you build a cart.3. Static electricity during dry times is a pain and a hassle as some dust gets in because it tends to stick to the cyclone.4. The container fills up quickly, probably a 35 gal drum would be nice.5. The price is pretty high for a piece of moulded plastic and 2...

Grizzly GO703P The right Dust Collector for my shop

Grizzly GO703P The right Dust Collector for my shop

After many years of building projects without good dust collection I decided it was time to get serious about controlling the dust in my shop. Besides the obvious health issues it is also not much fun to be covered in dust after a long day of woodworking. I also recently upgraded my table saw to a JET hybrid that has a dust port and I was feeling a little guilty about running the saw without one. My shop is a 2 car garage that I also use to work on cars so I wanted a DC that could be mo...

Wynn Environmental Filters for the Jet AFS 1000B Filter system

Wynn Environmental Filters for the Jet AFS 1000B Filter system

I recently purchased the Jet AFS 1000B. I was amazed at how quickly the filter was clogged up, thinking one the one hand this might get pretty expensive, but also thinking on the other hand, I am glad I didn’t breathe all that. I am very happy with this filtering system. I cannot quantify how well it cleans the air, but visibly pulls a lot of stuff out of the air. But this review is for the Wynn Environmental replacement outer filters. Replacement outer filters from Jet are upwar...

Super Dust Deputy Add on for 4" DC systems

Super Dust Deputy Add on for 4" DC systems

While researching this product, I noticed that there was not a review on LJ’s for this specific model of cyclone. I have a smaller ClearVue Mini and absolutely love it, however there were few choices on the market for cyclones specifically made for the majority of small DC systems out there in the 1-2 HP range. I think that Oneida has something here for that niche market. In fact, I am surprised yet pleased that they made one of these available because it can directly compete with ...
