Fellow Jocks, saw this remote switch on sale at Rockler for $45 marked down from $72(on sale on the web, just tell the retail guy and they will look it up). I had a gift card and picked one up. Set it up in my basement shop and worked like a charm. Now I dont have to move tools around to reach the DC switch.

Keeps the Shop Clean

Keeps the Shop Clean

I picked up this Delta 50-760 off of eBay a couple of weeks ago. I lucked out the guy i bought this from had bought it a few months back and changed jobs and was moving and sold his whole shop.It had been used for about 1/2 hr. The collector had about an inch of dust in the bag. Ok so I have this hooked up to my contractors saw from the bottom with a 4 inch she that is 20ft long. The back of the saw is not sealed up and the suction from this thing captures almost all the dust. I have cut M...

Overall a Good Dust Collector

Overall a Good Dust Collector

06-07-2010 06:28 AM by ABrown | 8 comments »

Overall this is a fairly good dust collector. Much to my suprise this little dust collector came on a tractor trailer strapped down to a pallet I don’t know why UPS couldn’t deliver it, It’s not that heavy. Once I got it off the truck and in my shop, the assembley was stright foward, I had it put together in about 30 minutes. I attached it up to my table saw, it does a pretty good job, don’t get me wrong It dose not get everything but it is a great improvement over my ...

So far so good

So far so good

06-06-2010 07:42 PM by Carpintonto | 7 comments »

Finally, the dust collector turned up in my shop. I was missing this guy for quite some time. no shopvac would put up with my Powermatic joiner and planer waste and having acquired a 5hp shaper, made me go for it. it seems to do its job so far. the self filter cleaning system and the remote control are as good as a cold beer in summer time!. the ability to roll the drum out and to the garbage room is very good. it is a bit noisier than most of my machines but not a problem. I will continue re...

Great mid range dust collecter.

Great mid range dust collecter.

I wanted to upgrade my dust collection for a shop vac to the real deal.I always trust delta machinery so I thought this was a good way to go. I headed right over to woodcraft and I saw this shiny beast. I purchased it that day along with the appropriate fittings and hoses. woodcraft has an amazing supply of dust collection accessories I might add!I got home and began to assemble the unit. There is a moderate amount of assembly but the instructions for once are actually helpful. I would sugges...

Poor Man's Festool

Poor Man's Festool

Intro For the longest time I wanted to get the Festool CT-33 (I would also be satisfied with the 22 version) as I believe that to be the flagship unit of the company – sure they make exceptional tools, but this one is by far their best contender in my opinion. Problem is – for my hobby use, it’s just beyond what I can justify to spend on a small dust extractor. A month ago, someone posted the PC 7810 vacuum on craigslist, but it was in a very used condition, and I felt...

A bargain and capable

A bargain and capable

This dust collector does a great job for individual power tools including my Jet Pro Shop table saw, JET JJP-8BT 8” Benchtop Planer/Jointer Combo, and router table. The planer especially puts out a lot of shavings which are almost completely sucked up. And it’s easy to move between equipment. VERY easy assembly.

Dust Deputy

Dust Deputy

As you look at the advertising, Oneida seems to make a pretty outrageous claim concerning the efficiency of it’s Dust Deputy, they claim it captures 99% of the dust. In case you don’t know, the Dust Deputy is a mini cyclone that fits on a 5 gallon bucket lid which acts as a particle separator for your shopvac. I have been interested in this claim, and cautious, because I am interested in good dust collection for my shop. I collect as much dust at the source as possible, this is...

Self Cleaning Blast Gates

Self Cleaning Blast Gates

02-16-2010 10:00 PM by Greg..the Cajun Box Sculptor | 8 comments »

I have tried numerous blast gates, metal and plastic. These from Lee Valley are the best I have found and they never clog because of the way the gate pushes any possible clog out when the gate is open and closed. I have been using them for 2 years without a clog. They do not come with the knobs…I added them for ease of use. when remodeling my kitchen last september I saved all the knobs from my old cabinets with the intention of re-using them on the new cabinets. I was outvoted by my w...

Air Filter

Air Filter

02-14-2010 06:23 PM by David Murray | 6 comments »

I finally took the plunge and bought an air filter unit for my shop. It was a purchase that I didn’t put on a very high priority. My thinking was “It really isn’t really a tool”, after all you can’t cut, shape, grind, drill or sand with it. After all I have a dust collector what more do I need. I always figured the fine dust that was always collecting on everything was okay, after this is a woodworking shop. Then I read a few articles on the long term health haza...
