The only WW machine I've regretted to date

The only WW machine I've regretted to date

-1 star for poor fit and finish-1 star for constant sensor failure-1 star for poor customer service I’m usually very happy with all the major woodworking machines I’ve bought, with the exception of my dust collector. It has been the biggest regretted/mistake I’ve made to date. The pictures speak more then words. Before anyone says anything, Yes I did assemble the unit correctly and spent a lot of time doing so making sure it was correct. All connections either have silico...

Product: Delta Industrial 50-722 1 Micron Top Bag for 50-720 and AP400Regular Price: $20 I’ve only owned one dust collector, an AP400, and it came with a 30 micron bag that would snap to attention when the collector comes on. I didn’t have any complaints about dust but after reading a godzillion warnings that you should have a 1 micron bag I bit the bullet and purchased this upgrade, catching it on sale for half price. The AP400 is supposed to have a metal rod that supports the...

It sucks, in a good way.

It sucks, in a good way.

So I purchased this from a local woodcraft @ $799 (on sale till the end of March) and it was forklift loaded in the bed of my truck. It was a fairly small pallet and my wife and I were able to unload it to the garage with little trouble. (She didn’t complain too much.) I assembled it in about an hour, casually taking my time and it was pretty easy. All the tools are included to assemble, however it’s faster and easier to use real sockets/wrenches. I was able to assemble it ...

Penn State Industries Customer Service

Penn State Industries Customer Service

03-24-2016 11:06 PM by Matthew | 5 comments »

I felt the need to write a review of Penn State Industries customer service department. I have owned a DC2000-Y single stage dust collector for about 5 years now. This review is in no way a reflection of the quality of the collector, which I think is fantastic. Never had any problems with the machine itself. Recently, I decided it was time to upgrade from the cloth bag filters, to a canister type filter with the plastics lower bags. After a cursory search online on many sources, and ...

Penn State 2 HP dust collector review

Penn State 2 HP dust collector review

I noticed that there don’t seem to be any reviews about Penn State dust collectors on here, and being as I bought one over Christmas time 2015, here’s my review. 1) This machine is pretty high value for the price, in my opinion. I paid ~ $270, and another $70? for shipping. I just looked today, and it seems to be selling for $230 right now, but is out of stock. See item 5e below for more on that!It is also made overseas, but what machine isn’t anymore? 2) The feature t...

Sealing Collection & Filter Bags to Dust Collectors

Sealing Collection & Filter Bags to Dust Collectors

02-15-2016 02:54 AM by Kelly | 6 comments »

I bought this to wrap the area of my dust collection system where the plastic and filter bags mount to the collector. Before, I was getting small dust trails. After installation, I am not finding such trails. Obviously, I am getting a better seal with the foam than I was when just clamping the [four] bags directly to the metal of the collector. I had upgraded to one micron bags and they fit pretty well, but now they fit even better. In short, in a warm shop and clamped in place, or with pr...

From Dust Pump to Dust Collector

From Dust Pump to Dust Collector

My three horse Jet had four nylon bags. The first time I ran it I suspected it had something in the area of twenty micron bags. In reality, they were probably five micron bags. Either way, it was nothing more than a chip collecting dust pump. I swapped the bottom bags for plastic ones, which took care of the bottom half. After shopping and comparing various bags, I found these. After installing them, I noticed an immediate improvement. They fit well, but I still noticed some occasion...

Quality and Savings on Four Inch Flex Hose

Quality and Savings on Four Inch Flex Hose

02-09-2016 07:30 PM by Kelly | 2 comments »

This isn’t as heavy duty as the tubing I’ve been using for the past few years, which well tolerates being drug around my shop for vacuuming operations, or switching between machines. That said, this is about 1/3 the price and the fifty foot length allows me to cut sections to dedicate to each piece of equipment. The hose came nicely packaged in a square tube about four feet long. I have two collectors – a 1-1/2 horse and a 3 horse Jet. I have had no problems using se...

It's Super for a Reason

It's Super for a Reason

My purchase of the Super Dust Deputy was inspired by the results of using my [metal version] Dust Deputy and Dust Gorilla. I’m running a Jet four bagger (3 HP dust collector with after market one micron bags) and use it, instead of a vacuum, to clean my shop floor, and around equipment. Screws, nails, nuts, bolts, pieces of wood and even an occasional tool get picked up in the course of cleaning. Normally, everything is drawn through the impeller blades. When chips and other large...

Somewhere Between [or at] "Remarkable" and "Uh"

Somewhere Between [or at] "Remarkable" and "Uh"

Like others, I’m not certain what you can say about something like this, so I’ll mention what I do know: -It has no holes in it, except on the ends, so doesn’t leak air, other than where it should.-It’s smooth on both ends, so I can fit it inside of black sewer pipe I’ve cut into couplers, or into flex hose.-It bends air, which, I believe, most straight pipes can’t do.-It doesn’t glare under intense shop lighting.-It’s ends are not over-sized...
