HQRP washable Shopvac replacement filters

HQRP washable Shopvac replacement filters

07-27-2015 05:03 PM by dschlic1 | 4 comments »

I purchased four of these filters about two years ago. Most of the OEM filters would not stand up and were difficult to clean. These are excellent filters, easy to clean (wash them off with water) and extremely durable. After two years of use I have yet to have one fail. These filters are rater H12 or in the newer ratings E12. Not clean room standards but more than good enough for a shop vacuum. The only down side is that they do not come with the cover that goes on the end of the filter and ...

Fantastic substitute for remote control dust collection

Fantastic substitute for remote control dust collection

07-17-2015 02:53 AM by Rayne | 10 comments »

This is my first review so hopefully this is decent. I have been looking for ways to remotely turn on my Dust Collector for a while now. After being snubbed a bit by PSI for their remote I went on a hunt for a new solution that wouldn’t cost me a ton of money and was less likely to fail. After hunting for a while, I ran across this little gem. It’s a wireless receptacle that can be turned on or off with a remote (only the bottom receptacle; top is always on). Since you’...

General Internationl cyclone dust collector

General Internationl cyclone dust collector

Used my cyclone dust collector today for the first time and does that sucker ever suck the shavings. I reduced the 6” dust outlet to 4” and had no issues at all except the noise, oh well it does say hearing protection required.

Dust collector cfm to mod changes

Dust collector cfm to mod changes

This is ment to give and idea of what happens to air flow when we do mods to a dust collector. I have been getting along with my vacuum ok, but time to upgrade. After stalking (lol) this site for a few months and checking Craig’s list all the time, I decided to buy a HF dust collector. I feel for the price it is very tough to beat. This is a very unscientific test and due to either bad jack on my cellphone (new Cat S-50) or due to the cheapness ($40) of a ABM-100 anemometer. This is men...

New Replacement Cartridge

New Replacement Cartridge

06-10-2015 12:49 AM by JimWhip | 26 comments »

I have owned a Pennstate Industries DC2V3 since 2011 and have been very please with it since then. This is my second dust collector from PS upgrading as my shop grew. The original canister on the DC2V3 lasted 4 years when I noticed it started to leak dust around the top edge. I called PS dust collector expert Bill and his initial response was that it should not leak, they should last a life time. After I sent him photographs of the canister he said that PS would replace the filter free of...

Incra Cleansweep Magnalock rings for Incra/JessEm Mast-R-Lift II

Incra Cleansweep Magnalock rings for Incra/JessEm Mast-R-Lift II

I’ve had my Mast-T-Lift II for a while now in a shop built router table. It’s set up for under table dust collection and does pretty well but I am always looking for was to improve dust collection, especially for routing. Recently, I purchased the Cleansweep magnalock rings in the hope they would help. Well, they do. I did some simple tests with the stock magna lock rings and then with the clean sweep ones. I routed a 3/8” x 1/2” rabbet in several pieces of pine....

Steel City 1.5 HP Model 65200 Dust Collector

Steel City 1.5 HP Model 65200 Dust Collector

Yes, I do know that Steel City is no more, but I figure, why not review it anyway, as someone may still be interested in purchasing one while they are being clearanced out. To be clear, I just purchased this today, so my experience is very limited with it, so take it for what it’s worth. I was able to purchase it on clearance, so I got what I felt was a good deal. I’m not too worried about product support down the road, as i figure a dust collector is fairly simple and many par...

JDS Company 2 HP Cyclone Dust Collector, Model 2100 CKV

03-04-2015 04:02 AM by csi | 3 comments »

First, let me thank all those that have taken the time and made the effort to write reviews. I’ve read hundreds. I appreciated them all. It’s time for me to give back to the Lumberjocks community. This is my first review….ever. I hope to be a little more diligent about writing reviews. I wanted to start with something that I really like – my JDS 2 HP Cyclone Dust Collector, Model 2100 CKV. It was my third big purchase after a new Jet JWBS-14SF bandsaw and a slightly-used Powermatic 200...

Works as designed, a real time saver

Works as designed, a real time saver

02-13-2015 02:21 AM by clawoftui | 9 comments »

Accessing my dust collector in my garage is a bit of a challenge that requires opening my garage door. So if I’m only doing a couple of cuts, I’ve developed a bad habit of not firing up the dust collector. I started out by ordering the Jet version of this dust collector remote from a seller on Ebay – I have a jet DC, so should have a matching remote, right? Well, even though it was listed as New, it showed up with a broken case, so after a 3 week return process, which e...
