Dust Deputy

My review is of Oneida’s Dust Deputy. http://www.dustdeputy.com/ I’ve had this addition to my shop vac for a little over a year and it is performing very well. Order/Assembly:I ordered mine online directly from Oneida and it came, unassembled, in a very short amount of time. Ordering was fast and easy. Assembly was quick but did involve silicon sealant. This is placed between the lower canister and the upper cone to create an air tight seal between the parts. It took about 15 min...

Delta 50-760 best dust collector of its class

Delta 50-760 best dust collector of its class

Wow, is all I have to say. This was a part graduation part birthday present and I have to say I love this thing. It has made my woodworking experience a whole lot better. I bought about fifty feet of PVC and ran it along all the walls in my shop connecting it to my jointer, table saw, bandsaw, router table, and put in a handy floor sweep. I even put in a shop vac port that can hook right up to a shop vac hose and I can use it for my miter saw or for sanding or routing. I installed blast gates...

Now mind you I have only had this machine for 1 month .and my shop is small, no planer to fill the bags ..but i love it so far …At 1.5 HP the power is terrific. The noise level rated in the book is 87db and actually it seems less when i run it …I did opt for the Shop Fox remote as it seems when ever I want to turn on my DC system I am on the other side of the room …so with 2 remotes …i attached to a stick and earth magnet on the back i can hang one from my bandsaw and...

New Plastic Dust Deputy Arrests Dust

New Plastic Dust Deputy Arrests Dust

112 days ago by TheDane | 15 comments »

The demo at AWFS and videos online were just too convincing … I ordered the new Oneida Dust Deputy kit ($99.00 plus $10.50 S&H). It was money well spent. The ‘kit’ comes with the plastic cyclone, two buckets, lid, hardware and hoses. The cone itself is a tough, heavy plastic, and the hose connections are tapered so my ShopVac hoses fit tight and stay put. Assembly took under 5 minutes. Instead of a copper wire and washer recommended by the manufacturer for static disc...

Penn State Industries Temp 142CX Dust Collector

Penn State Industries Temp 142CX Dust Collector

The dust collection unit that I chose for my 14 X 21 shop was the Temp142CX from Penn State Industries. Some specifications and reasons for picking this unit are as follows: 2 HP, 220V Motor14” Impeller – 6 Fin½ Micron Filter CartridgesUp to 12 DropsUp to 30 Ft. RunsUp to 1200 Sq. Ft.5 Yr. Warranty I used the economy 26 GA duct work which was noticeably heavier than the stores. Penn State had everything I needed to put this unit in. There was nothing that I ordered that they did not hav...

Close to true cyclone performance on a budget.

Close to true cyclone performance on a budget.

I have been getting a few questions about the Thien Cyclones I have been building, and figured I would write a quick review of them, and try to answer the questions I see about them.. For starters a Thien Cyclone Separator is NOT a true cyclone, but does operate in a psuedo cycloninc fashion. Meaning the incoming air stream spins around the outside of the vessel / dust bin and drops its load of dust, and larger particles in much the same way as nearly all the other separator lids do. The B...

Oneida Mini Gorilla

Oneida Mini Gorilla

I was searching for a portable (one machine at a time) dust collector for my basement shop. After much research and anguish I settled on the Oneida Air Systems Mini Gorilla. Oneida cut the price to $795.00 and threw in a plastic Dust Deputy DIY cyclone. They also cut the price on the remote control upgrade to $30. I was vacillating between the Jet DC-1100 CK (Canister Filter) and the Mini Gorilla. The Jet had the higher CFM, but I wondered how long would I have 1100 CFM, was the filter g...

Jet AFS-1000B Air Filtration System

Jet AFS-1000B Air Filtration System

I love this thing. My workshop is a small section in the rear of my basement. Just getting started, I was getting dust everywhere as I have a contractor type table saw. I’m working on collecting that dust at the source better, but stuff still gets in the air. My entire basement was covered with dust before I had this. I’ve had it for a few months now and I can honestly say I notice a difference. The air is cycled every so many minutes and if I leave it run for a couple hours...

Review of ClearVue 1800LH

Review of ClearVue 1800LH

308 days ago by Padre | 38 comments »

I purchased a ClearVue cyclone 1800LH for my shop about two months ago. Had torn muscles in my shoulder, so put it up a month ago, had shoulder surgery, and finally got it wired and turned on for the first time today. First Impressions: The unit came complete, packaged extremely well. Everything labeled, wrapped, boxed, re-wrapped. I unpacked everything and nothing was dented, broken, scratched or otherwise in any condition but brand new. The system also came with a remote control and...

Delta 50-760 1 1/2 HP Dust Collector - Not so Pleased

Delta 50-760 1 1/2 HP Dust Collector - Not so Pleased

I see several satisified user with good reviews on this product. However it has a flaw that bugs me, and is not acceptable. I bought one new in December. The unit does a very good job with collection, is reasonably quiet and I’m happy with that. But new, right out of the box I found a problem. The rod that holds up the dust filter bag attaches to the top/side of the unit’s housing. The first time I moved the unit the rod hung on an over head beam and even though it wasnR...
