Craftsman C3 19.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Drill DD2100 - Review

Craftsman C3 19.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Drill DD2100 - Review

I recently purchased a new Craftsman Power Drill DD2100 from Sears.  I’ve been using it for about three weeks now and I have to say so far, I have NO complaints.  In fact I think it’s as solid a drill as I’ve ever used.  The drill came as part of a kit, and I was able to pick it up for $109 (on sale) from Sears.  For the price I think it’s a great bargain.  I was able to replace my old 19.2 cadmium battery-powered drill with a new high-end one for about $100, and s...

Sandvick Bahco Screwdrivers.

Sandvick Bahco Screwdrivers.

A screwdriver is easily the most common and useful tool in our kit, something you have in your hand every day. I have met and used many poor ones in my life and truly believe that there is a special spot in hell for the designers and manufacturers of the ones that hurt your hands in use. There are also remarkable screwdrivers out there that perform admirably. These Sandvik Bahco drivers are only part of a collection of about 40 or 50 that I own (between work and home) but are the ones I re...

Took a chance with 12V ...

I was at HD comparing the 18/20V monster DeWalt and Rigid cordless drills and impact drivers. I was looking for an all around good drill/driver kit that I can use in the shop but also around the house for odds and ends. I don’t have any serious construction projects in the foreseeable future, so I didn’t need the 20V power house stuff that can drive 500 3” deck screws into treated lumber. One thing I really liked was the size/weight of the 12V lines. I compared the Milw...

Ridgid 18-Volt Lithium Ion Drill Driver and Impact Driver Combo Kit $179

Ridgid 18-Volt Lithium Ion Drill Driver and Impact Driver Combo Kit $179

My old 14 volt batteries are getting tired, the chuck is wearing out and the drill is getting a bit loose. It is still very serviceable, but is is pre-lifetime warranty. The cost of batteries is prohibitive as compared to just replacing the whole thing with a new drill, battery and charger. Especially with life time warranty on the new batteries. A few months ago I read a review about the newer 18 volt Ridgid drill being a little short on battery time. I decided to pass and just shop fo...

I don't give anything 5 stars, except this

If you only own one drill/driver in your entire life, this should be and could be the one. There is no better drill, in my opinion than the magnum. This drill will tear your arm off before it gives up, and has warning labels as such. These warnings should not be taken lightly. It is also possible to delicately drive screws without over torquing. The variable speed is extremely responsive and easy to control. highlights – Keyed Jacobs chuck. This is tough, has no discernible run-out ...

Porter Cable 1/2" Corded Drill

Porter Cable 1/2" Corded Drill

I regret I dont have a picture or model number for this tool. The image is a stock photo. It was a standard issue 1/2” corded drill by Porter-Cable. I was very unhappy with this product. It only lasted one job!, the swith in the trigger failed after minimal use on the first job (I was finishing a basement), rendering it inoperable. It was still under warranty, but due to lack of time, I had to keep working so I just bought a DeWalt drill from Home Depot to replace it. I’ve seen b...

First this was an upgrade from my 15 year old Craftsman 14.4 volt cordless drill. I was unable to source batteries for it and it finally died. That being said I got this at my local HD with a 20% Harbor freight coupon and 10% veteran discount. Taking it out of the box, my first impression was that it was very light and didn’t seem “hefty” enough. That being said, I noticed right away that the batteries had charge indicators on them and they both were at 2 lights out of 4...

Light and Powerful, Great Battery Life

Light and Powerful, Great Battery Life

I have been debating on picking up an impact driver for quite some time. I have a nice 14.4v Dewalt cordless drill and figured why would I also need an impact driver? After doing some extensive research and reading reviews online, I landed on the Ridgid impact driver offered by Home Depot. With a current price tag of $169, it’s less expensive than some of the other brands which was appealing to me as this felt a little more like a “want” purchase instead of a “need&...

Ridgid 1/2" Compact Cordless Drill is Great

Ridgid 1/2" Compact Cordless Drill is Great

I bought this drill at a Direct Tools outlet store in Hagerstown MD, they sell reconditioned Ridgid and Ryobi tools. Usually the only way you can tell that it is a reconditioned tool is the reconditioned stamp branded on the tool but this one had definate cosmetic wear. I wasn’t too pleased when I got it home and opened the box that it looked like it had been used on a construction site. Well, then I used it and WOW what an upgrade over the 12V B&D I had been using. The Ridgi...

Rigid Collated Screw Gun. Drive about 20 screws / minute (with video)

I’ve started renovating the house. This tool might not be used a lot in the shop but for this use it’s pretty nice. Lot’s of tearing down and lots of new sheetrock going up. Also lots of backerboard and subfloor. I dread all the screws. I came across this rigid (made by Senco) collated screwgun at HD. It is a corded drill that has a mechanism to hold a plastic tape of drywall or flooring screws. They feed up through a slot automatically. The mechanism that feeds them is simp...
