A little pricey, but worth it.

Bought this when I did the drawers for the lego table. My Ryobi drill wouldn’t fit in some of the places I needed it too. I also bought the 3/8 chuck for the drill. In my opinion, these tools preform as designed. I have driven 3 1/2” drywall screws into pine 2×4s with no pilot hole with no problem. Plenty of power. The impact driver is a bit noisy, but that is to be expected. For assebly with screws, they simply cant be beat. I find myself reaching for the drill more of...

Ridgid Sub compact drill drive set

Ridgid Sub compact drill drive set

I’ve been using a couple of offshore 18 volt Ni cads for about a year as my Dewalts wont hold a charge any longer and I saw no advantage to replacing their batteries.I had been looking at the Ridgid standard 18 volt Li cordless but when I saw this one at the Borg I had to try it. The tools are very compact and feel well made with a good balance although heavy for their size, I can live with that as they are still lighter than my old drills. The torque is amazing and blew me away at 12 vo...

Fully Automatic Weapon

Fully Automatic Weapon

So, this guy comes to the office to help one of the girls get into a cabinet that had a lost key. I heard all kinds of racket going on over there and thought I better sniff around. It’s a good thing I did because look what I saw. This is a drill with a 36 Volt Battery, two lights with 12 LEDs each, and a shoulder strap. The shoulder strap wasn’t just to help handle the weight, which I estimate at 5lbs, it was also to help with the torque. When you pull the trigger on this thi...

My first REAL cordless driver!

My first REAL cordless driver!

Bought this 18V Lithium-Ion Drill-Driver from Home Hardware, refurbished, for $190 CDN. Sound steep? Well, I’ve got to tell you, it’s worth every penny! I used to do home renovations for fun and now I’ve gotten into professional contracting. I’d gone through a few cheapie cordless drills just with the around-the-house use and I was never happy with them. They were never robust enough (any screws over 2” and I wouldn’t have even tried the cordless). ...

Lithium Ion Power Is Here

Lithium Ion Power Is Here

I did my research on these new Lithium-Ion power screwdrivers for their power to weight ratio. After comparing Bosch, Makita and Metabo, I chose the Metabo Powergrip II. It’s small lithium powered battery can be stored for months without loosing a charge. It’s small 1.6 lb size makes is fits that kitchen drawer even though it is built for tough professional use. The aluminum housing, and rubber grip, gives it s solid feel. At 7.2 volts, the battery is not as powerful as other brands, but ...

Excellent Drill/Driver

Excellent Drill/Driver

This drill was Christmas gift from my wife this past year. My previous cordless had given up the ghost back in November and I had been grousing about have to use the corded drill all the time. We debated about the merits of 14v vs. 18v vs. 12v? for a while when I told her to pick what we could afford in the budget. I will admit I had my reservation with regards to a 12v drill; I don’t have them any longer. The drill comes with the case (systainer), charger, two batteries, Centrotec ...

This little 4.8 volt drill/driver is fast becoming my go-to tool. A true pocket-drill, it has more torque than you can imagine, and comes with 2 batteries, a 90 degree adapter,a screw-on chuck, and case. While I wouldn’t want to screw an entire deck surface with(batteries charge overnight), it drives screws in hardwood very nicely, and is very compact. You just won’t believe the torque! Easily 5 stars! Purchased from Rocklers!

Plenty of power, good chuck, a little noisy.

Plenty of power, good chuck, a little noisy.

It’s been nearly two years since I purchased my Ryobi D46CK driver drill to replace an old Craftsman drill that had been on long term loan a little too long… The features I liked about this particular drill were the fact that it had a keyless chuck, with a good, predictable chuck. The blow molded case helps with storage and at least TRYING to keep my shop tidy. Power from this drill has been great, after Hurricane Ike I used it with a 1.5” long shaft (18”) spade ...

Ryobi 18v Impact Driver

Ryobi 18v Impact Driver

I bought this impact to replace an old DeWalt driver. I got the driver, a compact drill, 2 compact lithium batteries, and a charger for only $179 instead of a new DeWalt impact with no battery for $279. Sounded like a good deal so I jumped on it even though the Ryobi’s torque didn’t come close to the DeWalt(880 in/lbs for the Ryobi and 1,330 in/lbs for the DeWalt). The Ryobi struggled to drive lags into the old petrified wood of the house I was adding the deck on. It also bogg...

Lithium-ion 18Volt Impact Driver/Driver Drill/Flashlight

I bought this drill/driver for a deck for my daughter, my Ridged batteries were dying a fast death. A side note on the construction. I bought a Hitachi 18 volt drill and ratched drill at Lowes for $229.00 before I went. Model WH 18DSAL Hitachi site I charged up both batteries. Everything worked great. All joyce hangers, screws up to 3 1/2”, decking boards, facia boards stairs were attached with the two screw guns. It required an additional charge on each battry and a second charge on...
