Needing some metric drill bits I found these on Amazon. Never heard of the company before but read all the comments on Amazon. Nothing but good.I now have the drill set and I am very impressed. Very heavy metal box, all drill bits measure in with my calipers. Also these bits drill very nice holes in both wood and aluminum.I am giving these guys 4 stars because I do not know how long they will stay sharp. If they do then 5 star will be a no brainer. The set consist of 22 drill bits in sizes t...

I installed a bunch of drawer slides yesterday. You know, the full extension, ball bearing steel kitchen cabinet slides where you are upside down in the cabinet with your head twisted to one side, holding the part on your marks with one hand while you try to find the screw you dropped with the other hand so you can put it in with the driver in your other other hand? Well, actually I don’t do it that way. I double-stick supports on the cabinet side, set the slide on the supports, ad...

Very Handy Drill Guide

Very Handy Drill Guide

I’ve been meaning to write up this tool for a while. I’ve had it for a couple months and have used it maybe 7 times. It’s great. Solid hunk of real steel, drilled accurately. Has a V notch in the bottom to sit nicely on a dowel or other curved surface (or corners), and enough flat surface that it works well on flat stock. It’s really flat, sits solidly on flat stock. The center points of the holes are indicated with lines on both sides, so you can line up the hol...

This could have easily become the most expensive tool in the shop! We bought this adjustable circle cutter a few weeks ago at Harbor Freight. Seemed like it’d be a useful little tool. I’d set it up once on the drill press and used it to drill a test hole on a piece of pine. The arms sticking out spinning around made me kind of uneasy so I switched to a hole cutting saw bit. My husband set the cutter up today on the DP and was using it. One of the cutters came loose during operatio...

Wood Owl Tri-Cut Auger Bit

Wood Owl Tri-Cut Auger Bit

I purchased this bit from Traditional Woodworker to bore holdfast holes in my workbench. It is by far one of the best drill bits I’ve used. I was drilling holes in a 4.75” thick cherry using my drill press at 500 rpm. The bit pulled itself through the board effortlessly and the holes are perfectly smooth. Same results in maple.

Might as well have taken €20 and flushed it down the toilet.

This is the last nail in B&D’s coffin where I’m concerned. I saw this set in my local hardware store and thought it would be a handy thing to have in the van – you know, just in case.I managed to bore three holes before the first drill bit snapped in half. The driver bits are good for about a dozen screws before they round off at the tip. The drill bits that don’t snap are very poor quality – it’s almost as if the tips are ground off centre, they want t...

Combination Hex Drill\Tap Bits: Easy Installation of Threaded Knobs and Rod

Combination Hex Drill\Tap Bits: Easy Installation of Threaded Knobs and Rod

Maybe I just fell off the lumber truck, but I didn’t know about combination hex drill\tap bits. You don’t have to install a brass insert! Or, drill and then tap threads?! Do it all in one easy operation! Directly into wood with a low voltage driver!! I have threaded a lot of brass inserts for the jigs I’ve built, like my Rip Snorter Push Block , and thought they were a pain. And, I have read about and used various methods for installing inserts. They work, but they a...

Rockler Jig It Drill Guide - Video Review

If you don’t have a drill press, (or even if you do) the Jig It Drill Guide by Rocker is a great little jig. For those who don’t have a drill press but want to use forstner bits; the drill guide helps keep your power drill steady allowing for more precise holes. For those who do have a drill press there are certain times when it’s just not possible to use it. I needed to drill some bench dog holes into my workbench. I wanted to use a forstner bit with my power drill. The Jig It Drill G...

Kreg Pocket Hole Screws Alternatives

Kreg Pocket Hole Screws Alternatives

Kreg Pocket Hole Screws Alternatives I think the Kreg Jig system is one of the best products that Kreg came out with.By saying that personally I have a problem, the Kreg does not exist in my country so I always have to import from overseas (via air freight) my stock in screws.Ok, I do have a small stock in the shop but since they cost me almost double the price to stock them (especially for low budget projects) I needed to find an alternative. They way I come up with was to use the near...
