The Wood Slicer bandsaw blades from Highland Woodworking are awesome. When I first purchased my “Rikon 14 deluxe bandsaw my local Woodcraft store said that the 1/2” blade that came with it was pretty good. I took their advice on that, and also purchased a 3/4” 3TPI Timber Wolf blade for resawing. Both seemed to work, but my results were so-so. For the first real challenge I resawed some green cherry logs for turning blanks. I started with the blade that came with the saw. Meh. It really...

JET 6-inch riser kit for 14 inch bandsaw

JET 6-inch riser kit for 14 inch bandsaw

So I installed this kit today on my JWBS-14DX. It was very straightforward and took about 30 minutes by myself. I must confess that I watched a quick vid on youtube, and ditched the instructions. I did look through them afterwards that they seemed alright. Anyway, the fit and finish on this kit is pretty good, and everything went together smoothly. My only complaint…..the powder coating on the riser block was not quite as nice as the powder coating on the saw, but, that really isn&...

Craftsman Bandsaw Fence - good bang for the buck

Craftsman Bandsaw Fence - good bang for the buck

I spotted this while wandering through Sears the other day, and since my little 10” benchtop bandsaw doesn’t have a fence, and I plan picking up the Porter Cable 14” that Lowes has (which I know does not come with a fence) I figured for $40, this universal fence (which boldly claims to fit all models of bandsaws) would be a good investment (Being a hobbyist and “weekend woodworker” I don’t need the hyper-accuracy and features of one of the $150+ models̷...

Timber Wolf 3/4" x 2-3 Variable Resaw Bandsaw Blade

Timber Wolf 3/4" x 2-3 Variable Resaw Bandsaw Blade

I was resawing some old reclaimed white oak last week when my resaw blade snapped in half. Not a pleasant sound. Luckily I was in the middle of a cut, I had just finished cutting a piece and stepped a couple of feet away to grap the next piece of wood. That’s when I heard the huge band. Even though I had never experienced this before I knew exactly what it was. The 3/4 resaw blade bought I originally bought with the saw from Grizzly had snapped at the weld. So I decided to call the f...

Installation issues ( it should "no" star for the moment)

Installation issues ( it should "no" star for the moment)

I went to buy this fence last Thursday to mount it on my HF band saw.I mounted it Saturday and yesterday Sunday.I am mechanic by trade and it is my job to make stuff work, no matter what.Well, this fence was a challenge. I was expecting an easy and straight forward installation, the installation was anything but——The table had two threaded holes in the front which lined up with fixation holes in the fence but contrary to what it is supposed to be , when using these holes the fenc...

Carter Stablizer

Carter Stablizer

Turn you band saw into a scroll saw in a matter of minutes. The Carter Stablizer works with blades 1/4 ” and smaller only! You will also have to push the lower guide bearing back as far as they will go. The stabilzer wheel has a grove set so that the blade ride into it during sawing. This allow the blade to turn with no residence. The user has a very free flowing sense of control. When making tight turn the wood will absorb any heat caused by cutting leaving the blade cool to th...

Great Light, many uses.

Great Light, many uses.

This is really a great little light, comes with a wall power adapter, and runs off ‘AAA’ batteries. I keep it on one of my band saws with the light beam focused right at the blade and it works very well, the magnet holds VERY strong. When I want to use it else where such as on my mortising machine, I simply unplug it and use the battery power for that bit of time. I caught it on sale but I feel its well worth the regular price of $30. It also comes with a clamp on mounting pla...

Good resaw blade

Good resaw blade

09-24-2009 05:09 AM by Sawdust2 | 17 comments »

My Highland Woodworking Woodslicer got dulled up really bad because I did not pay attention when I put it on the Jet bandsaw. I was using a 3/4” and it was really too big for a 14” bandsaw. I ended up running it against the blade guard and just beat the crap out of the teeth. My bad. Markrules is a fellow LJ and reps Morse blades. He suggested that I try their 4 TPI 1/2” blade.Well, when I unfurled the blade one of the teeth caught my thumb. I can tell you that the teeth ...

I love this blade!

I love this blade!

In my shop i like things to match. bookmatched especially. and one of my favorite things in the world is projects from all one slab of wood. so naturally i do ALOT a resawing. so for that i need a good resaw blade. This blade really fulfills my need too! I have a 14” bandsaw with the riser block so for resawing i got for the 105” 3 tpi by 3/4” blade. these blades have hook teeth which is very aggressive but also leaves a pretty nice finish. not glue ready by any means but go...
