Good resaw blade

Good resaw blade

My Highland Woodworking Woodslicer got dulled up really bad because I did not pay attention when I put it on the Jet bandsaw. I was using a 3/4” and it was really too big for a 14” bandsaw. I ended up running it against the blade guard and just beat the crap out of the teeth. My bad. Markrules is a fellow LJ and reps Morse blades. He suggested that I try their 4 TPI 1/2” blade.Well, when I unfurled the blade one of the teeth caught my thumb. I can tell you that the teeth ...

In my shop i like things to match. bookmatched especially. and one of my favorite things in the world is projects from all one slab of wood. so naturally i do ALOT a resawing. so for that i need a good resaw blade. This blade really fulfills my need too! I have a 14” bandsaw with the riser block so for resawing i got for the 105” 3 tpi by 3/4” blade. these blades have hook teeth which is very aggressive but also leaves a pretty nice finish. not glue ready by any means but go...

A Worthy bandsaw blade

A Worthy bandsaw blade

I have been using these blades for years now and they are fantastic. They do a great jog resawing. They create no vibration and noise due to their variable tooth spacing from 3 to 4 TPI. Leaves a great finish also.I have cut perfect .093” think slices off of an 11 1/2” board. Fine Woodworking April 2004 has rated their Wood Slicer blade as “Best All-Round Performer” in their independent test for speed, flatness and smoothness! It also has a very thin blade of .022”. At...

Just Get This One

Just Get This One

When I first got my Grizzly bandsaw, I was pretty disappointed with the results with the blade provided. I always knew I needed to get a better one and I was hesitant to use the tool because the experience wasn’t very nice. For an upcoming project, I decided now was the time to get a new blade. I checked the reviews here on lumberjocks and finewoodworking.com and decided to get this blade. It arrived today and after spending a few minutes getting it installed I was ready for a test c...

Great resaw blade

Great resaw blade

667 days ago by johnjoiner | 3 comments »

Just after Christmas I got two new band saw blades from Iturra Design (no web site) in Florida. The blade I’m reviewing here is a 105” 3/4” woodslicer 3/4 TPI. (That means it’s variable, 3 teeth in one inch, 4 the next) for $21.20. Along with Mark Duginske and his Band Saw Handbook, the guys at Iturra are band saw gurus. I believed in them before, but I hadn’t bought into their recommendations on blades. I don’t know what I was thinking. My saw is a 3/4...

14" Band Saw Riser Kit for Harbor Freight Band Saw

14" Band Saw Riser Kit for Harbor Freight Band Saw

193 days ago by FJPetruso | 17 comments »

About 5 years ago I purchased a Harbor Freight Band Saw & the Riser Kit. I never installed the riser kit & stored it away until I needed it. Last month I failed to use my metal detector & while resawing some walnut I hit a foot peg, like the ones linemen screw into power poles, that the tree had completely grew around & ruined my band saw blade. So I took this opportunity to install the riser kit. I figured I would be playing with & tuning the saw up the whole day. Bu...

Carter Bandsaw guides

Carter Bandsaw guides

My main reason for getting a large bandsaw was for resawing boards up to eight inches wide. The performance I was getting from the Grizzly was less than satisfactory. Then, I was at a woodworking show, and the guy from Carter was sawing slices less than 1/8” thick, and very smooth from a chunk of walnut. He said it was due to guide bearings that were specifically designed for resawing. I had to have this! I almost choked when I saw the price, but I bought it anyway. It took about 45 min...

Lenox Bandsaw blade

Lenox Bandsaw blade

670 days ago by Tony | 10 comments »

Up until recently I have been using standard Band saw blade without much success, I tend to cut and re-saw a lot of white oak upto 12” in width. It was recomended to try the Lenox Tri-maste carbide tiped blade. It is a little expensive at about $140 for a 3/4” 3TPI x 136”, but boy was it worth it, I have just used it today, for all kinds of cuts on white Oak, including a 12” resaw of a board 8’ long, it was like a hot knife through butter – with vitually...

Great Light, many uses.

Great Light, many uses.

2 hours ago by drfixit | 0 comments »

This is really a great little light, comes with a wall power adapter, and runs off ‘AAA’ batteries. I keep it on one of my band saws with the light beam focused right at the blade and it works very well, the magnet holds VERY strong. When I want to use it else where such as on my mortising machine, I simply unplug it and use the battery power for that bit of time. I caught it on sale but I feel its well worth the regular price of $30. It also comes with a clamp on mounting pla...
