Quality and Savings on Four Inch Flex Hose

Quality and Savings on Four Inch Flex Hose

02-09-2016 07:30 PM by Kelly | 2 comments »

This isn’t as heavy duty as the tubing I’ve been using for the past few years, which well tolerates being drug around my shop for vacuuming operations, or switching between machines. That said, this is about 1/3 the price and the fifty foot length allows me to cut sections to dedicate to each piece of equipment. The hose came nicely packaged in a square tube about four feet long. I have three collectors – a 1-1/2 horse Jet (canister), a “2 horse” Harbor F...

Awesome machine for the $$

Awesome machine for the $$

Was looking for a solid bench top belt sander for a reasonable price. Found this at Lowes for 179. Well made, no vibration adequate tables ( hey it’s a sander)well packed and a snap to assemble. Fit and finish is good industrial style . Low noise. Easily adjusted belt tracking. Fits right up to my Rigid 2 1/2 shop vac hose for excellent dust control. Just spent 2 hours sanding 114 pine blocks all edges, machine didn’t event get warm. I don’t think there is a bett...

Oneida Mini Gorilla

Oneida Mini Gorilla

Took a couple weeks to get dust collector. Not bad. Had some hesitation with housing being plastic. Then again car intake manifolds have been plastic for a long time. It is very light. Putting it together took some patience. There are many fasteners. It would have been good to segregate them to make finding them easier. Didn’t expect to be drilling holes or applying a peel and stick gaskets. Not a big deal. Could/should have been done by manufacturer. I was surprised to find ...

Bosch REAXX Jobsite Saw

Bosch REAXX Jobsite Saw

10-01-2016 02:03 PM by Woodbridge | 16 comments »

I bought the new Bosch REAXX jobsite saw in July 2016. This is a great table saw for a woodworker who wants a high quality, powerful and accurate table saw but does not have the need or room for a larger cabinet , hybrid or contractor type table saw. If you work in a small basement shop or in your garage you will appreciate the small footprint and mobility of the saw. The REAXX table saw includes flesh sensing technology (Bosch calls it Active Response Technology). When the saw dete...

Way better than my Dewalt!

Way better than my Dewalt!

I picked this up online re-manufactured. They were having a sale and I had a discount code, so I managed to get it for $235 shipped. I figured at that price, it was worth the risk. I sold my Dewalt 12” non-slider on craigslist for $200, so I am all-in to this saw for $35. And that is actually true, since the Dewalt was a gift! Using this thing sure is a treat. I had been using my 12” Dewalt non-slider for several years, and we have a 12” Dewalt slider at work. The Dewalts...

Good saw for a good price

Good saw for a good price

Over the weekend I picked up a new miter saw. I had previously been using a 10 year old Delta 10” single bevel miter saw with an Irwin arbor mounted laser. No knocks against the Delta, it has erved me well but I wanted the larger crosscut capacity and a higher fence. I read every review I could find from this and other websites, and also went and kicked the tires at various stores. I decided on the masterforce because it is virtually identical to the Craftsman Professional 12” sl...

Bigger is not always better

Bigger is not always better

03-12-2012 05:01 AM by Sawdust4Blood | 10 comments »

Sadly this is my one Ridgid tool that has turned out to be a disappointment. I confess that I hate sanding and the thought that a larger, more powerful ROS might get me done sanding sooner may have seduced me into choosing this sander about 18 months ago when my faithful 20 year old Porter Cable gave up the ghost. Unfortunately, when it comes to ROSs, bigger is not always better. This sander is heavy and it’s size makes it cumbersome in many applications as well as being difficult ...

I love mine!!!

I love mine!!!

I got mine at Lowes for $399. The review is mostly accurate, but I do not agree with only giving this saw 3 stars. It took about 2 hrs. to assemble, and it was mostly putting the base together. I found it easier to put the base on the saw while it was all lying to the ground, then standing the entire unit upright once it was all assembled. It cuts great, the stock blade is something like a 10 TPI 1/2” general use blade. I have since purchased the Carter 3 TPI hook for cutting big...

Forrest Duraline HI-AT 80 tooth blade.

This Forrest blade is by far the very best blade I have ever owned. I ripped and crosscut some 3/4” Baltic Birch with no bottom chip out at all. All of these years of using cheap blades what a waste of time and material. Looking forward to using my Forrest 8” Dado blade now.
