Flattened my water stones

Flattened my water stones

174 days ago by CharlesA | 11 comments »

I got into more serious sharpening a year ago, but didn’t really know that much. When recently sharpening my chisels, I realized that I had messed up last time, and I needed to re grind 5 of my chisels back to the original 25 degree bevel. My 250 coarse stone was not particularly flat when I finished. I knew I needed to flatten my stones since I use a Veritas Mk II and not the Paul Sellers method. I checked around and it seemed like the two prevailing options aware this norton stone and...

DeWalt countersink set--almost really good

DeWalt countersink set--almost really good

2345 days ago by KDL | 1 comment »

The quick-change driver is easy to use and does it’s job well. The countersinks cut a fine divet—the cutters are small, which gives a clean cut, but they do clob easily, so take a moment to brush them off between holes. The only weak point is the bits. They are brittle and have very little depth-of-hole adjustment. I broke them quickly, but found better replacement bits at a big box store. For the price, it’s a decent set, but having bought them, I would now spend the ...

Review - Milwaukee 12v Compact Driver (Model #2401-22)

Review - Milwaukee 12v Compact Driver (Model #2401-22)

Great little tool. I’d recommend it without reservation. I recently drove 50+ 3” stainless screws into pressure treated lumber without a battery swap. Drives a little slower than my 18v Dewalt but I’m not complaining. I’d definitely buy another if it needed replacing. Pros 12v Cordless Driver kit includes 2 batteries, charger, case and two 1/4” locking driver bits Driver clutch has 14 + 1 settings to protect screws when driving into stock Weighs i...

Great Intro Shaper

Great Intro Shaper

1646 days ago by Dustin | 16 comments »

After owning these units for a few years now I think it might be a good idea to rewrite this review. Just starting into the cabinet business this machine will satisfy most of your needs. It is easily powerful enough to run shallow profiles, but when it comes to raised panel cuts you either have make sure your cutter is exceptionally sharp or you’ll have to run it through a few passes. The fence is superior to many shapers that I have used in the past, however, getting it parallel t...

Heavy duty and great price.

Heavy duty and great price.

I purchased this work stand for my 10” Craftsman Radial Arm Saw. I needed something in the garage that could carry the weight, not bend or torque under heavy lumber, and be transportable to job sites (mainly my back yard projects). I purchased this in November 2009 after being impressed with the Master Force Miter Saw Stand I reviewed. I gave this unit 4 stars because I have only used it a few times, and it probably should be a 4.5. Here is what I like: 1. It is heavy and stu...

Not the router lift to buy

Not the router lift to buy

1245 days ago by misbeshavings | 10 comments »

I bought a Jointech router lift 2 years ago based on ratings I found in magazines – it was a “tool of the year” award winner. Within a year, the Wixey digital indicator quit zeroing. So much for the digital advantage. This year, the lift quit lifting. It was never really “smooth”, and I finally stripped the gears off of the incredibly poor engineered nylon gear that engages a large ring gear to accomplish the lift. Insult to injury, when I ordered a rep...

New Order from Toys and Joys

I reciently placed another order with Toys and Joys for the two toys pictured above. I figured this would be a good time to write a review. This is my third or fourth order from Toys and Joys. Plans are 18X24 full size with all dimensions. They are printed on good quality paper and are easy to read. My order was shipped quickly and was packaged great. I highly recommend them. I can’t wait to see what Toys and Joys has new for 2012 If you get a chance check them out. http://www.toysandj...

Aggressive """NOT"""

Aggressive """NOT"""

I have tried the 6”orbital by ridgid 3 times.. I was lured by the lifetime warranty, i was reading on other sites that the warranty is not all that it’s cracked up to be.. anyway, I will never buy another ridgid sander again.. I’m tired of the frustration of having a tool you depend on, give up when you need it most. I am on the 4th sander and at this point i don’t care about the warranty.. The sander has a flaw., when you take apart the disc and the counterbalance you...

A Bet to Win on this Pedigree of a Horse, please.

For those of you who read my last review of the Pony Rapid Acting Band Clamp you’d probably be thinking I was going to be much more skeptical this time around with the same brand, but lo’ for this one I’d call it a winner. Please note in the photo the clips are backwards, but that’s okay because you do that for smaller frames, although given the position of where the clips are I’d say they’re making a huge frame, haha. As with any other frame clamps setu...
