Review of "How to Make Wooden Farm Toys" By Kurtis Foote

I used the plans created by Kurtis Foote to make the combine. The plans are very simple to use. The diagrams are accurate. The instructions are clear. I had no trouble making the combine with two different heads. One is a bean cutter head and the other is a corn chopper head. I highly recommend these plans for anyone desiring to make a set of our farm toys. The skid loader, tractor and disc attachment are realistic

Extremely Useful Addition To My Bench

Extremely Useful Addition To My Bench

I purchased a set a few months ago, so I figured I’d post a quick review. Hope it helps others decide if these are for them. Initially, I honestly thought I wouldn’t like these. My first impression was that they seemed cool in a gadgety sort of way, but that they might be one of those things that fixes a problem that doesn’t exist. Boy was I wrong! The little plates that go under the holes are really easy to install and readily flip out of the way when needed. The fit of these...

Easy to use HVLP with great results

Easy to use HVLP with great results

02-06-2014 06:39 PM by VCF | 10 comments »

I haven’t had had a chance to use this product to its full potential yet but the the projects I have used it on so far have turned out great. I attached a couple of pics of my most resent project I used it on. The time it saved me was amazing. This is my first time owning a HVLP system and I’m VERY pleased. Prior to this I ether did everything by hand or used my compressor / spray gun. I am much happier with the results. You can find the system normally on sale for around $300. We...

Works Well with Only One Negative

Works Well with Only One Negative

I purchased Lee Valley’s new Veritas custom plane when it first became available. After messing around with it for a few days, here are my thoughts. 1) The plane is built well and looks a lot better than their old line of bench planes. It feels nice and heavy and is about the same weight as a Lie-Nielsen (LN) #5. I bought mine with the “medium” traditional tote in the back and the middle-sized knob in the front. This gives it the same feeling in the hand as old Stanley or...

NEW VACUUM

NEW VACUUM

08-21-2008 07:09 PM by John Gray | 5 comments »

I purchased this vacuum about a month ago and it has been used ALOT. If has become a favorite tool, it’s so handy to use with the long hose. I also purchased the Ridgid Hepa filter – Model VF6000 which is washable. Filters 99.97% of particles as small as .3 mirons. Now the shop is much cleaner because the 22’ hose lets me go directly to the tool instead of having to move the big and cumbersome Craftsman around the shop, the Craftsman is now dedicated to the table saw unt...

PORTER-CABLE ROUTER BITS

PORTER-CABLE ROUTER BITS

HELLO , I’m not sure if this is posted in the correct place , so bear with me , Site Police . LOL…I ALSO POSTED IT IN THE forums section , but was unable to post any pix there. It’s too bad that there isn’t anywhere here specifically to post items that we find on sale to help out our jockbuddies. (that I know of ) I went to the W.Springfield MA Woodcraft store today for a bandsaw blade and was introduced to a very nice display of P-C router bits at clearance prices....

Milescraft push stick kit

Milescraft push stick kit

Yo whats up everybody I wanted to do a review on the milescraft push stick kit. In episode 22 I built a push stick and that worked pretty good but I always had a hard time getting the wood to go straight against the fence. I got this push stick kit from milescraft .You get a depth gauge and a base with the push stick. The way it is designed you have a lot downward pressure which helps to control the wood much better then the one I used to use.

Lee Valley Short shank Drill bits A handy accessory

Lee Valley Short shank Drill bits A handy accessory

I’m starting to feel like the Official Greeter at Lee Valley but here goes.I picked up these bits on a hunch that they would prove useful and now they are part of my mobile drill kit.The size is just perfect for many jobs like starting screws, fitting hinges, etc as the distance from bit to drill is short and gives you a better sense of parallel and more hand force to drive the bit straight. Short Drill Bits The shorter length has saved me grief a couple of times in the last two ...

Why not to buy a Shopfox Drum Sander

Why not to buy a Shopfox Drum Sander

11-18-2011 03:33 AM by Det | 17 comments »

I purchased a W 1740 12 inch drum sander about three years ago. I have had nothing but trouble with this machine. It has plastic gears in the belt dtrive and I have had to replace that once already. Yesterday while out using the sander again, only used on small projects, the gear again stripped out. I contacted Shopfox technical support to order a new gear again and was told that part is no longer available. They have made a replaacement part (obviously because the one they had was cau...
