Whiteside Router Inlay Kit

Whiteside Router Inlay Kit

07-02-2011 07:36 AM by pintodeluxe | 5 comments »

I could not be more satisfied with this inlay kit from Whiteside. I have read the complaints about other brands, how they are tough to center. Rest assured, the Whiteside comes with a 1/4” centering pin. The bit is a standard 1/4” shank – no reducer sleeve to mess with. The bit is a solid carbide down spiral cutter. It is sharp and cuts cleanly in oak and walnut. The bit also comes with a protective case – a nice touch. I have read reviews of other brands that ...

I cant say too much about edge retention b...

DeWalt Side Strike Chisel Really Work

DeWalt Side Strike Chisel Really Work

03-26-2012 11:09 PM by Harry_Ch | 7 comments »

Recently got the DeWalt Side Strike Chisel because I needed a tool that could take being used and abused but wouldn’t complain about it later. Saw the batoning chisel LV has, but got to handle this one first. Out of the box(so to speak), it has a good sturdy blade with a 1 inch chisel nose along with an equally good side bevel/serrated edge(dang left-handed design). The handle is thick enough to fit your hand very well, regardless of which way you are holding it. That’s hard to...

1, 2, and 3 inch sanding discs

1, 2, and 3 inch sanding discs

I heard about these here on another post and decided to order some. I cut my own paper and it sticks well however it wears out fast due to the small area. If you press too hard for too long you’ll heat the pad up and the foam will melt. A bit of CA glue will fix it. The sponges under the abrasive are great for hard to get to places that require intense sanding that you couldn’t do with any other tool. I use it on my turnings to get even sanding along the curves and to avo...

new slider on site.

new slider on site.

07-16-2013 12:47 AM by Shawn Masterson | 10 comments »

We had someone steel the new 10” makita slider and the old turd of a dewalt slider from the jobsite last week. we are trimming out a hotel and have to have the tools on sight so the boss picked up a new dewalt at the BORG. I am a fan of the dewalt. I have used this saw 12 hours a day for the last 5 days and it has probably cut a few miles of trim between the two shifts. it was dead nuts right out of the box. it has performed so well that I told him to pick up another one on his way...

BORK installation and review

BORK installation and review

01-29-2014 04:52 AM by Luke | 10 comments »

I am not very good at filming yet. I realize I messed up with the angle of the camera – This was filmed using my wife’s iPhone 5s (way better camera than my iphone5). I realize I need to learn how to film correctly, plan my dialogue, not ramble, buy a new, actual filming camera and so forth. I didn’t see a review or even a video at all of this newer updated BORK riving knife system and I really think it is a good system, you just can’t be a dummy about the installation...

Despite being kind to me, 4 years of use has been unkind to this compressor

Despite being kind to me, 4 years of use has been unkind to this compressor

If there’s one tool I use every time I try to get any woodworking done, it’s my HF air compressor. Everytime I get any woodworking done at home, the first tool I fire up is my compressor. I purchased it on a whim 4 years ago, and was giddy to have pneumatic power for the first time. This bare bones unit has (and continues) to serve it’s duty, driving nails (I have a HF 18 gauge brad nailer/stapler) and blowing compressed air. There isn’t much to say about how well ...

WorkSharp WS3000 Makes Sharpening a Breeze

WorkSharp WS3000 Makes Sharpening a Breeze

01-05-2015 12:41 AM by IHRedRules | 14 comments »

I’ve slowly been getting into woodworking over the last couple years. Since I began purchasing planes and chisels, I would just use them as-is, right out of the box. I had a fear that if I tried to sharpen them, I’d manage to somehow screw them up. Last month when I was in Sears, I found a WorkSharp WS3000 in the clearance section. It was completely sealed in the box and was $109 and change. I finally had a chance to put it to work, so I sharpened a cheap TSC set of chisels f...

SawStop Customer Service

I purchased my saw in December and had some vibration problems, that re-tightening all the stand bolts mostly eliminated, but hey this is an $1,800 saw, so since I’m home this week, on Monday I filled out a service ticket on the website and got an email later in the day asking if it was just during slowdown, I said no always when on, a tech called me at 11:00 on Tuesday (yesterday) and had me do some tests with the belt disconnected from the motor and it still vibrated, so he said that ...

Horrible quality, not what I expected from Porter Cable

Horrible quality, not what I expected from Porter Cable

I am honestly trying to be fair with this review, but I am extremely frustrated with this scroll saw. In the past I have been a happy owner of many Porter Cable products. At this point I am reluctant to buy any more. About a year ago my wife started to enjoy using the old clunky scroll saw we had to make kids puzzles. She got pretty good at it and now does it as a small side business. Each week she spends about 8-10 hours creating puzzles on the scroll saw for sale at our local farmers ...
