WorkSharp WS3000 Makes Sharpening a Breeze

WorkSharp WS3000 Makes Sharpening a Breeze

I’ve slowly been getting into woodworking over the last couple years. Since I began purchasing planes and chisels, I would just use them as-is, right out of the box. I had a fear that if I tried to sharpen them, I’d manage to somehow screw them up. Last month when I was in Sears, I found a WorkSharp WS3000 in the clearance section. It was completely sealed in the box and was $109 and change. I finally had a chance to put it to work, so I sharpened a cheap TSC set of chisels f...

SawStop Customer Service

I purchased my saw in December and had some vibration problems, that re-tightening all the stand bolts mostly eliminated, but hey this is an $1,800 saw, so since I’m home this week, on Monday I filled out a service ticket on the website and got an email later in the day asking if it was just during slowdown, I said no always when on, a tech called me at 11:00 on Tuesday (yesterday) and had me do some tests with the belt disconnected from the motor and it still vibrated, so he said that ...

Dust Deputy

Dust Deputy

My review is of Oneida’s Dust Deputy. http://www.dustdeputy.com/ I’ve had this addition to my shop vac for a little over a year and it is performing very well. Order/Assembly:I ordered mine online directly from Oneida and it came, unassembled, in a very short amount of time. Ordering was fast and easy. Assembly was quick but did involve silicon sealant. This is placed between the lower canister and the upper cone to create an air tight seal between the parts. It took about 15 min...

Modified MC900 Head

Modified MC900 Head

09-14-2009 07:11 AM by Woodbeatle | 2 comments »

I love the dbhost review and agree with all, The weight on the stand is needed, I have added a mod to the head as per attached photo. This acts as a giant clamp to lock the head to the bed, for turning boxed in access of 100mm diameter, as the head jumps a bit. Yes I know that this stops the head rotation, but it helps to steady the lathe I note that you talk of a manual. Is it possible to get a copy of the MC900 Manual, as I bought my lathe secondhand for A$75.00. I had to make up a few t...

Laguna LT 18 3000

Laguna LT 18 3000

I purchased this saw in 01\10. Heavy brute to move into the shop. Set up was straight forward even if no manual was supplied. There is now a very good video on the Laguna website that provides some helpful setup tips. The factory settings proved to be right on with little or no adjustment. The saw runs quietly with no vibration. The start capacitor failed after about two hours. I received instant attention from the Laguna service people, but someone forgot to mail the part! Arrived today 05/1...

Erecta-rack modular drying racks

Erecta-rack modular drying racks

Industry and trade shows include steel rolling and other racks for drying painted (sprayed) panels, cabinet doors, or simply flat works products. Typical steel rolling racks cost $200 and upward, require appreciable floor space, particularly if used infrequently making them unsuitable for the hobbyists. The August IWF industry show in Atlanta unveiled a new product that solved this need for the small user. See Erecta-rack.com I have no connection to or vested interest in this company, t...

Neiko 9 pc. Heavy Duty Chrome Vanadium Wood Chisels set w/ Aluminum Case

This Neiko 9 pc. chisels set includes 1/4” to 1 1/2”. They were surprisingly sharp out of the box. I have had them nearly a month, so have only used three of the chisels over two occasions with… well… chisel-like results. When I received them, I did yank around on the handles (won’t budge), pounded the handle end with a smooth-faced framing hammer several times (rubber mallet not aggressive enough for the hammer test), and even purposefully dropped one of th...

How to clean your shop(and other places too)I have the blessed opportunity to use a very good friend’s shop whenever I want. There are two really good things about working there: 1) He has sattellite radio piped in. That means I can listen to 50’s music all day long. He was listening to it before I got there so there’s no battle on what station to set it on. He also likes gospel music from time to time which I also enjoy. A great environment, and a very gracious friend to...

Laguna LT16 HD review-from unpack to.....

I am new to Lumberjocks and wanted to share information regarding this bandsaw because I found only a few posts on the model when I was doing my research and decision making. May I start with John Carrasco at Laguna Tools. I contacted him regarding a demo model and was going to initially purchase a LT16 3000 series. Then I did some looking around and thought I was going to change to the LT14SUV. You see the LT14SUV has resaw capacity of 14” and a 3HP motor, the LT16 3000 series ha...
