Five stars for blatent theft

Had to stop a Lowes yesterday and wandered into the tool dept. to see whats new. And for once there is something !!! Found a 6” planer painted delta gray with delta blue knobs and the peell and stick delta label marked down for close out. Noticed that it was apparently the only one in stock, but on the shelf below they were a stacked some new porter-cable 6” planer with nice color labels on the boxes. They were porter cable gray with black knobs and peel and stick porter cable la...

Kudos to Grizzly for an easy Saw to set up

Kudos to Grizzly for an easy Saw to set up

This review is just for unloading and assembling the Grizzly G0690 10” 3hp cabinet saw. and I will say that most of you will not need the manual at all as far as assembly is concerned. I was very impressed with the construction and workmanship of this saw and the price wasn’t bad either. After getting the saw on the ground and in the shop, we unpacked and checked for any damages. The way they pack these things, is almost impossible to receive damage in normal handling. Everything ...

Ridgid TS3650 Table Saw

Ridgid TS3650 Table Saw

1910 days ago by John Gray | 52 comments »

I’ve had this saw for about a year and love it. It was pretty square out of the box and the fence is really steady in contrast with earlier reviews on older models. The ability to move it on wheels is great, it comes with the wheels attached a bonus. There is a 2 1/2” dust collector hook up up under the saw which is so so, it’s hard to control the saw dust on any contractor’s saw. I have had no troubles with it and would highly recommend it.

SawStop Industrial Cabinet Saw (ICS31230: 3 hp, 1 phase, 230 V, 13 A)

SawStop Industrial Cabinet Saw (ICS31230: 3 hp, 1 phase, 230 V, 13 A)

I purchased this table saw in early April 2010 and it arrived in early-mid May 2010. The delay, I found out later, was due to the fact that SawStop was making a transition to the new, upgraded industrial cabinet saw. Anyway, when the saw arrived, I was pleased to find out that SawStop had upgraded me to the new dust collection shroud, blade guard, and lock down throat plate for free. There have been several very detailed reviews of the SawStop Industrial Cabinet Saw here at LumberJocks, ...

IBC ROB COSMAN BLADE AND CHIP BREAKER THE FINEST BLADE MADE IN THE WORLD

When it comes to hand planes people have lots of ideas about whose is the best. There are several premium hand planes; Lie Nielsen, Veritas, Bridge city, Wood River and The granddad of the bunch Stanley along with many others. These planes all claim to be the best or the innovator with new frog designs, re-worked Bedrock designs, bronze bodies and ductile steel. There are those who prefer a 125 year old bailey or bedrock but these old planes simply can’t hold a candle to the modern marv...

Harbor Freight Bar Clamps

Harbor Freight Bar Clamps

1487 days ago by PCorl | 51 comments »

First off I agree with some here at LJ that Harbor Freight makes some real junk. I also agree with some here at LJ that Harbor Freight makes some pretty good stuff. I have been using Harbor Freight (Pittsburgh) F style bar clamps for some time now and am totally satisfied with them. For the cost they can’t be beat. When they aren’t on sale they range in price from $2.99 for a 6” clamp to $9.99 for the 36” model. On sale they are cheaper yet, I think I paid $1.99...

Does your arm get tired cranking your router up and down in your router lift? Especially when you hve to crank it all the way up to change a bit? Well, how about no cranking at all and go from all the way down to all the way up in ONE SECOND! Well the new PRL V2 from Woodpeckers does just that. Install the spring loaded handle, give it quarter turn and you can pull or push the router to where ever you want it. Just stop it when you are close and use the micro adjustment wheel to reac...

Ashley Iles Mk 2 Bevel Edged Cabinetmakers Chisels I have for as long as I can remember wished for a quality set of chisels and few years ago I took the decision to spend the money on a set of Bahco 434, and boy did I regret this after… Why? Because what I was looking for was a set of cabinetmaker chisels and not the perfect on site construction chisel that also would be used for opening beer and cans of paint! Say what! This is actually meant as a compliment bec...

Woodworking Magazine Survey

Woodworking Magazine Survey

457 days ago by duosonicdave | 49 comments »

Okay LJ’s – time to weigh in. . . I’ve searched around and can’t seem to find a survey/side-by-side comparison of the various woodworking magazines. I’m thinking about taking out my first subscription and find myself wondering, “So, what’s unique about “this” publication vs. “that” publication. I was wondering if those of you who have experience across a wide spectrum of woodworking magazines could describe how they stack ...
