Harbor Freight Air Saw

Harbor Freight Air Saw

908 days ago by Raymond | 35 comments »

I recently purchased this air saw from Harbor Freight. It has worked well right out of the box. It is quiet with almost no vibration. Blades are a little expensive and are not a standard blade. Although I am working on a fix for that. At 17.99 I could not go wrong. I use if for both wood and metal work. From Harbor Freight Specs Cut a wide range of materials, trim and shape light plate, sheet metal and plastics.Zip through sheet metal as thick as 16 gaugeAir consumption: 3 CFM @ 90 PSI...

HF Mobile Base is Dead On and Rock Solid!

HF Mobile Base is Dead On and Rock Solid!

461 days ago by Bob | 15 comments »

INTRO:I spent way too much time researching mobile bases. In the end, despite the nay sayers, I decided to give the HF mobile base a try. I paid $29.95 with a super coupon. ASSEMBLY:The metal brackets are very thick. I ripped some SYP I had lying around to the 1 1/4” x 1 1/4 dimension specified. There is a formula in the manual that tells you exactly how long to cut your wood pieces. As a double check, I placed each of the brackets (with bolts in place) against the 4 corners of ...

A $9.99 guage thats not bad

A $9.99 guage thats not bad

762 days ago by Dave | 9 comments »

I purchased one of these gauges two years ago. And have found it worth the ten dollars I spent. It has a good brass knob and it will hold tight. The pins are of a good spring steel. After 2 years of use they are just as sharp as day one. I have just purchased a second one for general purposes. I do have a store near me so I am able to pick the one I purchase. I had to true up one of the pins on the original but it was not a big problem. The HF site has 2 reviews as follows:This is the first H...

Hooray for Harbor Freight and to heck with Fastenall

Hooray for Harbor Freight and to heck with Fastenall

925 days ago by lilredweldingrod | 20 comments »

Three years ago I bought a cheapy set of drill/countersinks. The bits broke almost immediately, so I thought I would get some quality bits and went to the Fastenall store in Lancaster, Ca. He had to order them. I sent the wife in to pick them up, three weeks later. Four packages of ten bits each, $54.00!!!! I nearly choked, but a deal is a deal and I did want a good quality bit.The only good quality that I got was the plastic containers which I still use for my replacement bits. lolI could no...

Pleasantly surprised by the 93431 HF Random Orbit Sander

Pleasantly surprised by the 93431 HF Random Orbit Sander

411 days ago by Tennessee | 10 comments »

I have to admit, I am a sucker for a good random orbit sander. We all started off many years ago with the square ones that always left swirl marks, and then one day there it was, the round, 5” random orbit sander. My first was a Porter-Cable with the stick-um pad, which soon got a hook and loop system and served me well until the wheel would just start spinning out of control as soon as you lifted it off the wood. They had come down so much in price I bought another, this time variab...

Harbor Freight Air File

Harbor Freight Air File

908 days ago by Raymond | 5 comments »

I recently purchased the Harbor Freight Air File. This thing works like a charm. A little heavy but works great, the online specs state 8.5 cfm, however the manual states 4.0 cfm. Harbor Freight is forever getting the specs wrong on there stuff. “Always check the manual, never rely on the online specs”. The files included are surprisingly of good quality. The tool requires the files to have a tang of ¼ inch. This little gem is very quiet, and no vibration. And for 17.99 again how could I go w...

HF 6" ratchet clamp... why do I do this to myself?!?

HF 6" ratchet clamp... why do I do this to myself?!?

357 days ago by harvey4804 | 35 comments »

So I picked up 2 Harbor Freight 6” ratchet clamps a while back and they worked just fine… for 1.99 clamps. The holding pressure wasn’t a whole lot but for little jobs it was fine. The alignment/parallelism of the actual clamp pads are off by several degrees no matter how much you clamp it down. But again… 1.99 clamps. This past weekend I was using it to help me assemble a decorative fence around my wife’s garden. After a short period in the sun the plastic got...

Makes a great hybrid saw mobile lift, many other possibilities

Makes a great hybrid saw mobile lift, many other possibilities

1157 days ago by hypnos | 5 comments »

I recently bought a new Jet ProShop and I needed a mobile base due to my wife wanting to park in the garage. The high price and lack of really good reviews for any mobile base I could find to fit the proshop necessitated some inventiveness. This Central Hydraulics lift fit the bill, it just needed some longer lift runners. Some poplar and 1/4” machine screws brought it to the length I needed to span the base of my table saw. I will be adding bottom braces to my outfeed/assembly table th...

MT2 Drill Chuck

MT2 Drill Chuck

829 days ago by ChunkyC | 10 comments »

Harbor Freight 1/2in MT2 Mini-Lathe Drill Chuck I purchased one of these last week based on a posting from LJ member Hairy. I paid $14.99 + shipping which is a good price for drill chucks with the arbor! A high precision chuck it’s not and this chuck isn’t going to win any contests for the best chuck of the year but it does make a good chuck for woodworking. The chuck that I had for my DP wouldn’t chuck up smaller bits so I needed to do something. I’ve been lo...

Great Quality Razor Blade Scraper

Great Quality Razor Blade Scraper

1224 days ago by dfdye | 6 comments »

Why the heck am I writing a review of a razor blade scraper? Well, because I have destroyed about a dozen of them in my time and finally found one that has been great to work with. When I finally find a cheap tool that works, I have to share! I got this as an impulse buy for $2.00 while in the check out line at Harbor Freight, and have never looked back. I am sure that everybody on this forum has a million uses for single edged razor blades, and, if you are anything like me, you have tri...
