Harbor Freight Tools Work Bench affordable and useful

Harbor Freight Tools Work Bench affordable and useful

1866 days ago by PKP | 20 comments »

I bought this Bench on sale for 159 dollars. plus tax for a total of 175.( I know TN sales tax is high). The Bench was easily put together in about 2 hours. I have to say for the money I dont think you could buy the wood to make your own workbench. I needed a workbench instead of using a door setting on top of 2 old speakers as a work table. The table top is flat and is finger jointed oak, The drawer sides and bottoms are not solid oak but MDF. All the rest of the bench is oak. The inst...

Harbor Freight Dovetail jig

Harbor Freight Dovetail jig

1486 days ago by Tim29 | 52 comments »

I have been wanting to get a dovetail jig for sometime now. I was up against a brick wall however. Do I fork over the bucks for a Porter Cable jig or do I buy a cheaper jig and see if it does the job for less money. I have tried this type of approach many times with many tools. Most of the time I have went on to pay for the better quality tool as well as the cheaper tool that did not work. This is not one of those times.I paid the $23 for the Harbor Freight Dovetail jig and it works pretty we...

14" Band Saw Riser Kit for Harbor Freight Band Saw

14" Band Saw Riser Kit for Harbor Freight Band Saw

1920 days ago by FJPetruso | 22 comments »

About 5 years ago I purchased a Harbor Freight Band Saw & the Riser Kit. I never installed the riser kit & stored it away until I needed it. Last month I failed to use my metal detector & while resawing some walnut I hit a foot peg, like the ones linemen screw into power poles, that the tree had completely grew around & ruined my band saw blade. So I took this opportunity to install the riser kit. I figured I would be playing with & tuning the saw up the whole day. Bu...

Bargain Tool Review - HF 10" Sliding Miter Saw (Chicago Electric)

Bargain Tool Review - HF 10" Sliding Miter Saw (Chicago Electric)

780 days ago by SchottFamily | 22 comments »

For the past three weekends, I’ve been cutting down some melamine sheets to use for cabinet cases. I happened to notice that my June 20% HF coupon was about to expire and I’ve had my eye on the 10” sliding miter saw for a few months. I already own the 10” miter saw (it was a gift from my in-laws – cool, huh?) and I’m very happy with the performance of that tool when used with a Freud cross-cut blade and a zero clearance plate. I was able to convince the ...

Not for the Feinthearted

Not for the Feinthearted

I have looked at the Fein Multi Multimaster and the Rockwell offering, then sighed as I looked at my Social Security check. There is no way I could afford or justify this ocaissionaly used tool nomatter how great it was. Looks like it is waaaaaaaaaay overpriced considering for the same money you could get a good saw, router setup and many other heavy usage necessary tools. Yesterday I had to take the wife on her weekly pilgrimage to Walmart, so after dropping her off there I scooted around t...

Harbor Freight Portable pocket hole jig

Harbor Freight Portable pocket hole jig

1885 days ago by Pete_Jud | 5 comments »

I picked up a Kreg single pocket hole jig a couple of weeks ago for 20 bucks and have fallen in love with the concept. Even “Norm” uses the pocket screws for doing face frames. I saw that Harbor Freight had a 2 hole jig that looked like it worked like the Kreg 2 hole jig for a whole lot less money. I thought I would give it a try. I had a 20 percent off any single item coupon and it cost me 54 bucks instead of 99 bucks for the kreg. The Kit came with the step drill, lock col...

Harbor Freight Scroll Saw

Harbor Freight Scroll Saw

804 days ago by Remedyman | 12 comments »

It was suggested that I review this product so I figure what the heck, the least I can do is try to add to the community. I have had the saw for about 2 weeks now. Overall, I think it is a great saw. I have cut plywood and pine with it. I haven’t had the chance to run any hardwood through it yet. It doesn’t cut fast but it is a scroll saw so it isn’t expected to. One thing I have to give it credit for, it isn’t very heavy but it doesn’t jump around my tab...

Decent and happily low cost trimming tool

Decent and happily low cost trimming tool

This tool has been reviewed by another user some time ago, but I thought I would throw in my two cents worth. OK, Chicago tools are mostly junk. I have gone to Harbor Freight many times and observed their stuff, and for the most part some of it actually scares me. However, certain of their offerings are OK, and that rating applies to this little Chicago Electric trim router, stock number 44914. First off, I should point out that Grizzly apparently sells the thing (or something very much...

Harbor Freight 1-ton foldable shop crane

Harbor Freight 1-ton foldable shop crane

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93840 Like many of you, I’m leery of a lot of Harbor Freight items, but I decided to take a chance on this shop crane to lift a couple of heavy machines onto their stands – an 8” parallelogram jointer and this 14” bandsaw. It’s really nothing more than a hydraulic jack and some welded steel tubing, so what could go wrong? As recommended, I got a bottle of jack oil at the same time as the crane...

I am building tow night stands and I wanted to run the front legs.I never turned wood before in my life.So I went to my favorite harbor Freight store and I bought this lathe which was on sale for $249.00 but as usual the manager who knows me also accepted a 20% discount, my final price was $179.00.In addition I bought a 8 pieces HSS wood tuning tools set, also with 20% discount. As I said this is the very first time that I use a lathe and after watching a few videos on “youtube’ I...
