Harbor Freight Bar Clamps

Harbor Freight Bar Clamps

First off I agree with some here at LJ that Harbor Freight makes some real junk. I also agree with some here at LJ that Harbor Freight makes some pretty good stuff. I have been using Harbor Freight (Pittsburgh) F style bar clamps for some time now and am totally satisfied with them. For the cost they can’t be beat. When they aren’t on sale they range in price from $2.99 for a 6” clamp to $9.99 for the 36” model. On sale they are cheaper yet, I think I paid $1.99...

Harbor Freight 23 Ga. Air Pinner

Harbor Freight 23 Ga. Air Pinner

215 days ago by Tim Scoville | 21 comments »

I have become rather pragmatic in the purchasing of some tools for my shop. Harbor Freight is very accessible for me and the cost of air tools from the big box stores seems out of proportion to what they do and what I can buy them for at HF. I am not not a power user of air nailers but expect I will use them more and more over time. Although the normal price for this is $24.99, I think I picked mine up on sale for $16.99. The pins I buy in packages of 6000 for about $4. I love these pinners s...

Know this not a tool, but I bought it at a tool store and my heart is in the right place...Photo is my grandson Weslee, 3 1/2 … he likes his new BIKE ! link to the tricycle Here is how Harbor Freight describes it... Pneumatic, knobby tires help your child get around on trails that would stump a regular trike. Big 13" front tire, 10" rear Nonslip traction pedals Tow hitch for pulling wagons Adjustable frame for kids ages 3 to 7 Includes safety reflectors, front ti...

works good enough for what I use it for ! Harbor Freight 1/2" Bandfile Belt Sander

Hello Fellow Lumberjocks Bought this sander about a year ago. It had low price. Worked good the first time and has not let me down since. Not a tool I use everyday, but find myself using it enough that I always keep it handy,... within reach. Coarse grit sandpaper removes stock quickly and the tool is easy to guide and control. Gave it 4 stars because we know it is a made-in-China-throw-away. For $35 bucks it’s a good deal. If it died tomorrow, would probably buy another, rathe...

This stuff really works!

This stuff really works!

Many of you probably have used this stuff before but it is new to me. I mean I have seen it around for years but never thought much of it till I picked up the Ridgid EB4424 Oscillating Edge Belt/Spindle Sander (pictured above). I have noticed a number of lumberjocks with this machine. You can pick this up from many different manufactures and at many different outlets but I happened to get mine at Harbor Freight for $4.99. That seemed like a reasonable gamble not knowing how well this type ...

Not much to say about this. I needed to finally replace the sanding belt cleaner I had as I had worn it out. (Still on the same belt FWIW). I hopped into Harbor Freight, and picked one of these up. Sale price of $3.99, and since I wasn’t getting anything more expensive, I threw the 20% coupon on it for an additional $.80 savings for a total before tax of $3.19… Got the thing home, and it is EXACTLY the same item as I had purchased at the big name woodworking supply and hardware...

Good, low cost toggle clamps at Harbor Freight

Good, low cost toggle clamps at Harbor Freight

Just sharing this. When something raises my eyebrows and gets me thinking then maybe it’s worth passing on. I’m going to talk bang for buck. I hope you don’t mind. Yup, I’ve got a few harbor freight tools but not much. I’ve had mixed luck with them. But a friend let me see one of these toggle clamps. I have some from a wood store and I must say, they are very similar but not identical and but both seem to be of the same quality. They’re probably both fr...

14" Band Saw Riser Kit for Harbor Freight Band Saw

14" Band Saw Riser Kit for Harbor Freight Band Saw

192 days ago by FJPetruso | 17 comments »

About 5 years ago I purchased a Harbor Freight Band Saw & the Riser Kit. I never installed the riser kit & stored it away until I needed it. Last month I failed to use my metal detector & while resawing some walnut I hit a foot peg, like the ones linemen screw into power poles, that the tree had completely grew around & ruined my band saw blade. So I took this opportunity to install the riser kit. I figured I would be playing with & tuning the saw up the whole day. Bu...

The good and bad. . .

The good and bad. . .

I have not been giving much praise to HF tools that have a motor or battery in the past. There are the occasional decent values though (The Dust Collecter is nice for a small setting, for example). This router has a ton of negatives. The adjustments are sloppy and the collet seems less secure than a Dewalt and Bosch router that I use as well. The attacthments such as the edge guide, aren’t very precise either. That said, I still am glad I purchased it. I got it for under $20. I o...
