Ok base for price

Ok base for price

Bought this yesterday for my TS; was on sale for $65 at my local tool store, regular $95. It took me about 2 hours to assemble, and a lot of fiddling to get it to be the correct size. The instructions are fairly detailed, but neglect to mention to size the base 1/2” larger than the size of the tool you are mounting on it, due to the lip on the stand. So, needless to say, I had it assembled, and my TS precariously balanced to go on the stand when I realized that I had made it too small a...

General 15” Wood Bandsaw

General 15” Wood Bandsaw

Without a doubt, the most used/loved machine in my shop is my old reliable General 15 inch bandsaw. This particular saw is an older tool inherited from my Dad. It was manufactured in 1970 in DrummondVille, Que, Canada. Model number of this saw is the 490 and it is still manufactured today, a testimonial to its quality. General makes two mid size lathes, the 25-100 and the 25-200. They are almost identical except that the 25-100 has a 1/2 HP motor with 6 speed stacked pulley, compared to the 25-200 having a 3/4 HP variable speed motor and the headstock assemble is capable of rotating for outbound turning. I was lucky enough to have a 25-100 donated to the shop and I’ve enjoyed using it now for the past few months. It is capable of turning small bowls, pens and spindles. I did notice when turning a ...

warning just got this today, this is a first look review The Woodsmith Store had this General mobile base on sale for $60, the staff also recommended it. It took me about 15-20 mins to put together, all I needed was a couple wrenches. It’s my first mobile base and I can’t believe I lived without one. Much better than dragging around my Delta contractor table saw. I would have preferred one lever to engage the wheels and move it but stepping on 2 each time isn’t too to...

GENERAL INTL Variable speed MAXI-LATHE Model# 25-200 M1 REVIEW

GENERAL INTL Variable speed MAXI-LATHE Model# 25-200 M1 REVIEW

For one, it’s at least 50 lbs heavier than others — and extra cast-iron is always a benefit for lathes. Mass soaks up vibration, which translates into smoother, steadier cuts. A heavy lathe is also less prone to do the jitterbug across your bench——————————————————————-Inboard, this lathe offers comparable swing (meaning the largest diameter you can turn) to the c...
