Carter Bandsaw guides

Carter Bandsaw guides

My main reason for getting a large bandsaw was for resawing boards up to eight inches wide. The performance I was getting from the Grizzly was less than satisfactory. Then, I was at a woodworking show, and the guy from Carter was sawing slices less than 1/8” thick, and very smooth from a chunk of walnut. He said it was due to guide bearings that were specifically designed for resawing. I had to have this! I almost choked when I saw the price, but I bought it anyway. It took about 45 min...

My band saw is far from top of the line but this one item has improved it greatly.Had I not seen it demonstrated at a wood show I would not have paid the approx $70price. The lower guide is removed when using this. I can scroll cut shapes that I would never have tried with this saw. http://www.carterproducts.com/product.asp?product_id=37&cat_id=14

Carter Magfence

Carter Magfence

My 18” bandsaw is, essentially, dedicated to resawing and other straight cuts. I was not happy with the original fence and I looked to upgrade. I did not find many options for an 18” bandsaw and finally purchased this Carter magnet based fence. I’ve worked with it some and now I offer a mixed review with both the positives and the negatives as I see them. (As an FYI – I have a second, smaller, band saw that I use for the curvy stuff.) As I would expect fro...

Carter RIK1 Stabilizer for Rikon saws

Carter RIK1 Stabilizer for Rikon saws

This actually works. I cannot add much that isnt covered in the youtube videos Carter has up. I was 50/50 on buying it as I thought it may be hype. But it works great. I cut some amazing curves with it and now think it wasnt that expensive after all. OK for $80 it is expensive. Hopefully the bearing is a good one and I would assume it must be as its constantly engaged with the blade. Check out the promo vids Carter has. I am not affiliated at all. My real life experience matches what is...

Turn short thick logs into useful lumber at home

Turn short thick logs into useful lumber at home

I have been eying this bandsaw log mill for a couple of years now, and decided to use some Christmas money to finally get one. I got to play with it over the last couple of evenings, working with a piece of maple that I got off of Craigslist last year for free. It was green when I got it but has been drying in my shop and is now at about 12% moisture. Assembly of the mill is pretty straightforward. It’s HEAVY so make sure you have a large clear spot on your work surface. The most...

Carter Stablizer

Turn you band saw into a scroll saw in a matter of minutes. The Carter Stablizer works with blades 1/4 ” and smaller only! You will also have to push the lower guide bearing back as far as they will go. The stabilzer wheel has a grove set so that the blade ride into it during sawing. This allow the blade to turn with no residence. The user has a very free flowing sense of control. When making tight turn the wood will absorb any heat caused by cutting leaving the blade cool to th...

Modernize your Band Saw

Modernize your Band Saw

I was lucky enough to receive one of these for Christmas this year. It is really well made like all the other Carter products. The instructions were concise, with lots of pictures. It’s pretty straightforward to install. You have to disassemble the whole top of the bandsaw, but it’s easy. The tricky part was lining the toggle assembly up parallel to the tensioner, and marking the holes. You drill two holes to mount it and they even include the drill bit! Then you just put the saw ...

My 14” Rikon band saw is dedicated to re-sawing and other straight cuts. I was not happy with the original fence and I purchased this Carter magnet-based fence. I’ve worked with it for some and now I offer a review with both the positives and the negatives in my opinion. As expected, the quality and the workmanship are outstanding. This tool is well made. The fence is held very securely with the 2 included 30mm MagSwitches. There are 4 places to hold the MagSwitches, so you can adjust it t...

Does the job

Does the job

I received one of these for Christmas and as simple as it is it does the trick. I installed it where they suggested, drilling a small pilot hole first then screwing it into the blade guide. It does a good job cleaning the tire and seems to be well made and should last a long time. i really like Carter band saw accessories. I give it 5 stars..

Carter Rikon 14" Deluxe Micro Adjust Guide Conversion Kit

Carter Rikon 14" Deluxe Micro Adjust Guide Conversion Kit

I’ve been living with my Rikon 14” Deluxe bandsaw since I purchased it about a year ago. I’ve resawn a handful of lumber, cut out some cabriole legs, made jigs… a fairly rounded work history. It’s been okay, but I felt like the blade never really tracked properly even after a lengthy and tedious tuneup. Then, I decided to make the plunge and purchase a set of Carter Micro Adjust guide bearings… POW! I just won at life. Yes they are expensive, and, ye...
