My wife bought me this as a thank you for putting some French doors in for her. I’ve only used it a couple times and both times my jaw dropped. First use: I was installing a fan in a gas fireplace and the electric was never run for it when they built the house. The location where the power was needed was impossible to get to. My options were to remove the fireplace, run the power, and reinstall the fireplace. YUCK Or cross my fingers and try some magic. I go into the baseme...

Dremel Scroll Saw: Sweet!

(photo from www.dremel.com) When I decided to try my hand at working with wood, I thought that I would like to do some scroll work and so I did a little research and decided that I preferred the Dremel. About the time that I had made my decision, the tool came on sale and I jumped at the opportunity and it came home with me. The Features Sander :The station comes with the scroll saw and a sanding station on the side, which is really convenient, not only when I’m doing scroll sa...

Dremel Multimax a low cost alternative?

A very useful customer’s review I found. Credit: Camera Shy (Baltimore, MD USA) at Amazon.com Good Tool and Recommended (with some room for improvement) I received my Dremel Multi-Max about a week ago and was anxious to try it out on a serious project. The Project: Cut out exterior window molding that had begun to rot. The tool did the job as expected; in fact I felt like a surgeon cutting out a tumor. However, after just a few minutes of use, the blade came off – not goo...

Quick changes and fast cutting

Quick changes and fast cutting

This last year I’ve been doing more with metals and have been using my Dremel with two types of cut off wheels. One type cuts well but wears quickly, the other type is brittle and prone to exploding. Either way, changing wheels meant removing a screw from the mandrel, replacing the wheel and returning the screw. I spent more time screwing around than cutting. The EZ lock mandrel and wheel starter kit was around $11 and is the bee’s knees for Dremel cutting. Wheel changes only t...

My dad gave me this. I’ve used it once or twice. For me it was very easy to break blades but it was because I kept wanting to push it like a jigsaw. I think if you practiced with it it would be a useful tool.

Dremel parts service

Dremel parts service

Hi guys. So this is what just happened to me today. Upon firing my Dremel, without any advice, it blew out dust like crazy in a crunching noise, with the usual smell of opal being ground. Suffice to say I immediately shut it off. Best guess: a small chunk from the last time I used it probably got sucked into the tool and was released when I fired it today, causing severe damage. Once unplugged, the first thing I noticed when extracting the carbons was that they were pretty damaged. ...

Handy tools everyone should have.

Handy tools everyone should have.

I finally had a real need to use the Dremel Saw-Max I recieved for Christmas last year. Had an entertainment center to cut down for a smaller area. I wanted to make the simplest cuts to remove height from the cabinet. A straight edge and my Saw-Max did the trick. I was concerned that the abrasive type blades would not be able to cut cleanly without tearout, and may cause burning. Not to worry. This little guy is the best. I am more than pleased with the performance. I have now used ...

Excellent - but Limited

(Photo from dremel.com) Reason For PurchaseI purchased this Dremel to do drilling, cutting, carving, routing, and all that the tool says it will do. I thought that the size would fit with my woodworking skills and building projects of the future. It was also the “supreme” version of the tool at the time. Right from the first use I knew that I loved this tool. It was great for sanding small places and for etching in glass. Loved it! FeaturesThe following list of features i...

Last year on my birthday(had to chuckle about the timing) my Ryobi scrollsaw that we got at a yard sale bit the dust. My wife in her loving ways said lets go to Home Depot and see what they have. I had been looking for a Delta variable speed but no one had it so she said how about the Dremel 18 inch saw (when she is in this mood I never say no) and we bought it at that time on sale for $199.00 and took it home, setup was easy and I just mounted it on the stand I made for the ryobi with a co...
