Oneida conversion kit filter cartridge

Oneida conversion kit filter cartridge

I have an older Oneida DC (1.5 hp) with internal cartridge .. inside the separator. This model is no longeroffered and I needed more power as my shop grew. Oneida offered (for a price ! ) a conversion kit to allowthe cartridge to be located outside the separator and advertised it to “increase flow”. Luckily when originally ordered, I opted for the muffler thus I already had the outlet fitting tangent to the fan housing. This allowed for an easy installation of the ” conv...

Oneida Dust Deputy Cyclone

The SDD replaces a “Frankenvac” HF through a Thein separator to a plastic barrel, using Rockler quick-connects to each tool. I replaced the HF impeller with the Rikon, and what a difference! I am blessed to be able to just vent outside, so fine filtration is not a concern. The assembled collection corner is amazingly quiet, and has quite a lot ( don’t have the ability to measure airflow) of suction – even on the far end where the SawStop lives. I read of so...

Oneida Super Dust Gorilla - 5 HP

Oneida Super Dust Gorilla - 5 HP

Several months ago, I purchased a new dust collector. Before, I had a Jet 1.5 HP dust collector with a cartridge filter and vortex cone. It did an OK job and was piped into my shop with 4” PVC. My measurements of the flow at the dust collector were 670 CFM at the 6” port and only 450 CFM at the 4” port. The maximum static pressure was 10.25” Inside my shop, the flow was greatly reduced. I decided that I needed something bigger to collect more of the dust and so looked at a number of t...

Took a couple weeks to get dust collector. Not bad. Had some hesitation with housing being plastic. Then again car intake manifolds have been plastic for a long time. It is very light. Putting it together took some patience. There are many fasteners. It would have been good to segregate them to make finding them easier. Didn’t expect to be drilling holes or applying a peel and stick gaskets. Not a big deal. Could/should have been done by manufacturer. I was surprised to find ...

The only WW machine I've regretted to date

The only WW machine I've regretted to date

-1 star for poor fit and finish-1 star for constant sensor failure-1 star for poor customer service I’m usually very happy with all the major woodworking machines I’ve bought, with the exception of my dust collector. It has been the biggest regretted/mistake I’ve made to date. The pictures speak more then words. Before anyone says anything, Yes I did assemble the unit correctly and spent a lot of time doing so making sure it was correct. All connections either have silico...

I modified my DC system for the ‘nth time, this time replacing my Woodcraft garbage can cyclone lid for the Super Dust Deputy. The trash can lid did fine but I was still getting a lot of dust and chips into the bag and filter. I really hate changing the bag and cleaning out the filter. It is a dirty messy job that kind of defeats the purpose when dust is going everywhere in the shop just to get the bag off, and to take the filter off to get it outside to clean. So I bit the cost and modif...

Super Dust Deputy cfm loss

Super Dust Deputy cfm loss

I have a Jet 1200, a 2 hp with a 12 inch impeller attached to a Super Dust Deputy (SDD) sitting on top of a 55 metal drum. I used a Alnor anemometer Model RVA+ to measure the velocity and calculated the cfm at different duct set ups and found no meaningful loss of cfm. Measurements as follows; 1. Measured at the 6 inch intake with a cheap metal 90 degree elbow (after removing the two 4 ” port) measured velocity at 5700 fpm/cfm 1114 2. same as above but with 3 cheap 6 ”...

I finally took the plunge

I finally took the plunge

I’ve been tinkering with the idea of getting a Dust Deputy for a long time. I finally took the plunge. I’m not going to say too much about it, other than I am extremely pleased with its operation. I can’t believe how well it works, and I’d recommend it to anyone. As you can see from the photos, my shop partner, Phoebe, approves as well. Her newest thing is to watch proceedings from the deep sink. Bubbs

Review of Dust Deputy by Oneida

I bought my Dust Deputy 3 years ago and have been using it regularly since then. Many of you have probably looked at the Dust Deputy and considered purchasing the plastic cyclone with some hesitation, unsure of how it really performs. In this video I give some good context as to how I use it, with what tools, and how I have it set up. I also open up the Dust Deputy bucket to show how much dust is inside after 3 months of use, and then I open the shop vacuum to see how much dust made it pas...

More suck,less dust

More suck,less dust

I just revamped my dust collection system after 3 years in the shop, and installed the new Super Dust Deputy Plastic Model from Onieda. I chose the plastic model based on the design. It appeared to me(very scientific) to have a better cyclonic design than the metal model. Price was not a factor. I removed as much plastic flex pipe as possible, utilized rigid swirl HVAC pipe and std 6”heat duct fittings with a blast gate at each machine. The DC-1100 was in the center of my main tool...
