I saw this link via the wood whisperer website. This company, Stockroom Supply (www.stockroomsupply.com) sells the parts to built a face sanding drum sander. Granted its not the full blown thickness sander, but this method suits my needs better. I teach high school woodshop and I would not feel comfortable letting kids run a thickness sander, but this is a machine that is nearly idiot-proof once it is assembled. I have been looking for a better sanding solution for door frames, small panels, drawer boxes, etc, and I think I have found it. I ordered an 18” x 2” V-Drum The Works kit from Stockroom Supply (http://www.stockroomsupply.com) in Ontario, Canada. This machine works exactly as advertised.Here is a link to their videosClick “Build your own” then “Drum sander demo” Pros: They claim that you can sand painted surfaces without clogging up the paper. It’s true.My third picture is a stir stick that I use to stir my poly. There are at least a dozen coats on it. There was even a large drip. The stick took 3 passes with 100 grit paper. I know there are a couple of reviews on the Flatmaster Sander but I thought I would give my impressions of my new 24 inch Flatmaster. I have had this sander for about 4 months now and have run many different projects and wood types on it and it does a great job. Unlike most drum sanders, it is a hand feed sander so some will be turned off immediately but they would be missing a great sander. I purchased the ready made metal cabinet version. this sander does what they say it does. i waited to after i used for a month or so before i gave it a review because the top came warped wasnt very happy. but they have good customer service got it it fixed right a way.works great very versitile for different projects. if i had to say anything bad it would be in the area of dust port hook up just a 3”hole but made it work. motor is 1/2 hp fan cooled.
