A straightforward device with only minor deficiencies

This unit is discontinued, but it might be available used or even may still be in stock in some Lowe’s stores here and there. I have been using hand routers for some time, but I did decide that an inverted table-type unit would be handy. There are plenty of table bases available out there, and they will handle any router you might care to install. This device is different, in that the motor is built in. Unpack the thing, do a bit of assembly work, and it is ready to go. Technically, it is ...

Accuracy out of the box

Accuracy out of the box

I have owned a Rockwell Unisaw for 4 years now. I bought it used from the US Army. It had the original fence on it. It was a constant job to keep it aligned and semi accurate. I recently was able to purchase the Delta 36-U30 Unifence. I took only about an hour to assemble it. It was amazing after I was done to do my first test cut. I set the curser at 6” and made my cut and low and behold it came out to six inches. Coming from what I just had all I could say was WOW! With my o...

Since my comment on the origional entry I have received requests to show and explain my hookup for cyclone type lid and can. pic.1 shows the DC conected to the planer and the joiner. Each has a seperate blast gate. Since they operate in opisite directions the conecting hoses are never in they way. To me the key is the light gray hose. its very stiff and high quality. It also comes with the DC. Since the direction of the intake is changeable, in this type of configuration ‘up’ is...

Delta 50-760 best dust collector of its class

Delta 50-760 best dust collector of its class

Wow, is all I have to say. This was a part graduation part birthday present and I have to say I love this thing. It has made my woodworking experience a whole lot better. I bought about fifty feet of PVC and ran it along all the walls in my shop connecting it to my jointer, table saw, bandsaw, router table, and put in a handy floor sweep. I even put in a shop vac port that can hook right up to a shop vac hose and I can use it for my miter saw or for sanding or routing. I installed blast gates...

Delta Heavy Duty Precision Miter Guage 36-946

Delta Heavy Duty Precision Miter Guage 36-946

I have only seen this miter guage on ebay – never in a store nor in a Delta catalogue. When you search the product number on the Delta website it only comes up as an accessory to their hybrid tablesaw. The ebayer who lists it sells one a week and I lowballed it for 2 years before I finally got it for $80, including shipping. In the last two weeks they have sold for less than my $50. What an improvement for my vintage unisaw! The design is excellent including an eccentric lock scr...

My first planer... cheap, easy to use, and portable

Well, for anyone who expects an in-depth review that has it’s foundation in a thorough understanding of wood planers, you’re going to be disappointed. This is my first planer and I’ve only actually been near an operating one once before, so all you’re going to get is a novice’s impression of a machine that’s probably meant for a novice. Maybe that makes me the perfect guy for the job, after all. This model sells locally for $239.00 and (of course) lis...

The classic Unisaw

The classic Unisaw

After using a Delta contractor saw for about 9 years I finally moved to my new shop with the roomfor a full size saw. I bought this saw while my shop was being built. Amazon had mis-priced this saw so I jumped on it and got it for $1340 delivered. Plus a $100 rebate from Delta. The next day Amazon bumped the price up to $1900. What can you saw about the Unisaw. They started making them about 1937 and most all saws made todayare based on it. You can probably still get parts for your 60 y...

My table saw could not have broken at a worse time, or a better time.

Last August, I was starting a new project; an oak fireplace mantel for a friend. I guess my 10+ year old Delta (cheap inboard motor model) could not take the strain and let out what souded like a high pitched scream and stopped with a puff of white smoke. After a few explatives and a sudden realization that my project was on hold, I went inside and started looking online for a new saw. I read so many reviews, my head started to spin, but I knew I wanted another Delta. If it is good enough for...
