Delta 36-725 Contractor Tablesaw: Follow-Up Review

EDIT: THIS REVIEW WAS EDITED ONLY TO ADD A LINK TO ADDITIONS THAT WERE ADDED TO THE SAW. TABLESAW ADDITIONS: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/101376 I bought this saw over a month ago and wrote an initial review then. The review included many assembly tips as the owner’s manual had not been updated since the saw was first released to the market. While the review is for the Delta saw, it includes many assembly tips that may be of value to any owner of a new saw. Likewise, this review foll...

Improved splitter for my Saw

Improved splitter for my Saw

01-22-2009 12:03 AM by marcb | 6 comments »

I have an older saw with a horrible splitter. I’ve often gone without or used one of those cheap snap in plastic things for ZCI if I had to have one for serious ripping. This all changed with a piece of knowledge, part number 1349941 from the Delta parts website. This easily installs into Delta saws (even my old Rockwell) and someone made a website about installing it onto a jet. The splitter is thick, so it is not for use with thin blades. A knurled nut makes it easy to rem...

What an upgrade for an old Craftsman TS

What an upgrade for an old Craftsman TS

06-23-2011 03:47 PM by brtech | 9 comments »

I’ve got an older (Emerson) Craftsman TS (113.298240). The stock fence is a joke, but I’ve made do. I finally decided to do something about it, and a T2 was it. Got it at Tools-Plus for $148 + 6.50 shipping. It came pretty well packed via UPS. The box was a bit caved in, but the parts were fine. Excellent manual, very clear, real English. The fence is made in Taiwan. Fit and finish appear to be excellent. There are two ways to mount the fence to this TS. One is to dril...

Using the Delta T-2 to replace the Ridgid 4511 fence

Using the Delta T-2 to replace the Ridgid 4511 fence

03-26-2012 01:55 AM by MoshupTrail | 10 comments »

A few weeks ago I started a forum topic about fixing the lame fence system that came with the Ridgid 4511 Granite top table saw. The problem with the Ridgid’s fence is that the guide tube is split and joined in the middle with a cheap plastic part. The plastic part forces one of the tubes to be slightly offset from the other making it impossible to adjust the fence angle. When the fence slides from one tube to the other the angle will change slightly. Initially I was thinking to...

Delta 50-760 1 1/2 HP Dust Collector - Not so Pleased

Delta 50-760 1 1/2 HP Dust Collector - Not so Pleased

I see several satisified user with good reviews on this product. However it has a flaw that bugs me, and is not acceptable. I bought one new in December. The unit does a very good job with collection, is reasonably quiet and I’m happy with that. But new, right out of the box I found a problem. The rod that holds up the dust filter bag attaches to the top/side of the unit’s housing. The first time I moved the unit the rod hung on an over head beam and even though it wasnR...

Delta 22-580 13-Inch Benchtop Planer

Delta 22-580 13-Inch Benchtop Planer

01-28-2008 01:17 AM by GaryK | 25 comments »

I have had this planer for going on 2 years now. I have nothing but praise for it.I got it used but like new condition. It has 2 sppeds. A dimensioning speed of 60 cpi allows you to shave rough wood to its desired thicknessquickly with no snipe. Then a quicker finishing speed of 90 cpi, your wood comes out ultrasmooth and ready to go. The double-sided M2 steel knives are powered by a 15 amp, 120-volt, single-phase motor. It has a blade zero indicator (which lets you set the cutterhead t...

My first planer... cheap, easy to use, and portable

My first planer... cheap, easy to use, and portable

Well, for anyone who expects an in-depth review that has it’s foundation in a thorough understanding of wood planers, you’re going to be disappointed. This is my first planer and I’ve only actually been near an operating one once before, so all you’re going to get is a novice’s impression of a machine that’s probably meant for a novice. Maybe that makes me the perfect guy for the job, after all. This model sells locally for $239.00 and (of course) lis...

Delta 6in Jointer with Stand (Shopmaster)

Delta 6in Jointer with Stand (Shopmaster)

06-08-2009 04:35 AM by Tim_456 | 20 comments »

To begin this review I have to add that this is my first jointer ever. I’ve never used one before so all of my comments are based on being a novice. Also, one peculiar thing is that this jointer is not advertised on Delta’s website and other than seeing it in the Rockler advertisement I can’t find any proof of it’s existence;) The jointer is a 6 in model with a metal stand that needs to be assembled. The bed could be a bit longer but for me it works very well. S...

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

11-06-2009 12:52 AM by knotscott | 21 comments »

This review is as much a deal alert as it is a testimonial. This deal has been on Ebay for several weeks now from Cripe Distribution, and I’m amazed people haven’t scarfed these up like free champagne. If you’re not familiar with it, the Delta 35-7657 was originally the DeWalt DW7657 40T ATB general purpose blade….the same blade that Wood Mag rated favorably against the Forrest WWII a few years back when it was considered a good bargain at $50. It appears to be the sa...
