Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

11-06-2009 12:52 AM by knotscott | 21 comments »

This review is as much a deal alert as it is a testimonial. This deal has been on Ebay for several weeks now from Cripe Distribution, and I’m amazed people haven’t scarfed these up like free champagne. If you’re not familiar with it, the Delta 35-7657 was originally the DeWalt DW7657 40T ATB general purpose blade….the same blade that Wood Mag rated favorably against the Forrest WWII a few years back when it was considered a good bargain at $50. It appears to be the sa...

Badly engineered

Badly engineered

01-28-2010 05:47 PM by Dustin | 21 comments »

I have used this shaper for a little less than a year at work. The fence came in and it wasn’t straight, but when I noticed how the fence assembly was engineered I realized that was pretty much impossible. If you somehow have a different experience let me know.So we’ve had this shaper for a little less than a year and we hardly use it because it’s a pain to set up (fence not being straight). Anyway so all out of nowhere the shaper starts to vibrate like crazy when we used...

My New Delta 6" jointer

My New Delta 6" jointer

06-29-2010 09:59 PM by lanwater | 20 comments »

I just purchased the Delta 6” professional jointer.I did not consider better 8” jointer for mainly one reason: I do not have enough space in my garage / shop. I also did not have the luxury of actually seeing all these jointers before purchase. I went to several stores (Woodcraft, Rockler …) but none had any on display. They all volunteer to order it for me.Among several jointers that were suggested were the Delta 6” professional jointer, the jet 6” jointer and the grizzly jointer. I went f...

Delta 6in Jointer with Stand (Shopmaster)

Delta 6in Jointer with Stand (Shopmaster)

To begin this review I have to add that this is my first jointer ever. I’ve never used one before so all of my comments are based on being a novice. Also, one peculiar thing is that this jointer is not advertised on Delta’s website and other than seeing it in the Rockler advertisement I can’t find any proof of it’s existence;) The jointer is a 6 in model with a metal stand that needs to be assembled. The bed could be a bit longer but for me it works very well. S...

Great for small shop using only one tool at time

Great for small shop using only one tool at time

I don’t know how informative this review will be as it’s my first dust collector and review, but I’ll try. I was originally looking at the 50-760 after hearing lots of good reviews, but since I plan on only using one tool at a time and I dont mind rolling this around from tool to tool I didn’t mind something a little cheaper as I was trying to save money (or so I thought), quieter, and smaller. Despite reviews I’ve seen on amazon, this thing was very simple t...

The last drill press I plan on owning

The last drill press I plan on owning

01-15-2012 11:27 PM by Hoakie | 20 comments »

This is the second drill press I’ve owned, but the first serious one. As you can see in one of the pictures, I had the 10” Craftsman drill press. It had a 2 1/8” quill travel and a 2/3 hp motor. Although it got small jobs done, it was never fun to use and I cursed it out every time I needed to. Obviously the Delta 18-900L is in a whole different class so any real comparison is moot. However, I can say that I don’t seem myself ever cursing this bad boy out. I pur...

My table saw could not have broken at a worse time, or a better time.

My table saw could not have broken at a worse time, or a better time.

Last August, I was starting a new project; an oak fireplace mantel for a friend. I guess my 10+ year old Delta (cheap inboard motor model) could not take the strain and let out what souded like a high pitched scream and stopped with a puff of white smoke. After a few explatives and a sudden realization that my project was on hold, I went inside and started looking online for a new saw. I read so many reviews, my head started to spin, but I knew I wanted another Delta. If it is good enough for...

Review of Delta 14" Bandsaw, Sawing with a Delta

Review of Delta 14" Bandsaw, Sawing with a Delta

07-25-2011 08:35 PM by Delta356 | 19 comments »

When it came to buying a new bandsaw, I really took my time on which one I wanted. I looked at all the main brands, and compared the difference. There were really not very many difference. They all cut wood…I ended up going with the brand that pioneered the 14” bandsaw, Delta Machinery. I bought this bad boy at Rockler when they had there 15% of Delta tools. The Bandsaw comes in one big box, and it weighs a lot. The way the box was shaped it was very hard for two people to h...

Nice small jointer for lightweight work

Nice small jointer for lightweight work

12-09-2008 07:57 PM by ferstler | 18 comments »

As a retired person who was a relative newcomer to the hobby, this was the first tool of this type that I purchased, and I had hopes that it would do what I needed in the way of hobby-grade woodworking. (I will use the terms jointer and planer interchangeably in this review.) Unfortunately, the short length of the aluminum table sections (spanning just 30 inches) made it difficult for the device to do a good job planing longer boards. In addition, the lack of a solid, two-sided lockdown with ...

Delta 18-36 x5 drum sander.

Delta 18-36 x5 drum sander.

01-30-2012 12:57 AM by Ken90712 | 18 comments »

First off Thanks to Joe Lydon who introduced me to his buddy Bob that was selling this sander. I mentioned to him I was going to buy one and he told me about a buddy that had one that he never used. I’m not normally good at buying used stuff, but I trusted Joe. Bod said, “If I didn’t like it I could return it for a refund.” (Who does that now a day?) Not a bad deal for used sander. I was shocked how clean this was when I arrived. We agreed on the price and off we went. 5 stars t...
