New Jointer

New Jointer

Got me a new DJ-20 to replace my 6” Ridgid. To me it’s a small aircraft carrier.I’ve not had much luck with Delta tools the last few years but decided to go with a Delta again over a General and King.Out of the 2 crates the tables were flat and in line with each other and the fence was perfect.Paint job isn’t the greatest but if the above points are perfect it’s a fabs item. If I could I’d give it 4.5 starsGreat price too at $1499 Cdn -PLUS I get to choose...

Happy With My First Blade Purchase

Happy With My First Blade Purchase

So as promised (in Knottscott's review of the Delta 35-7657), here’s my review of its 60-tooth cousin. The night Scott reviewed that blade, I noticed Tooliday had the 60-tooth version up for $25, plus $5 S/H. I had been looking at Freud blades that were about $20-30 more, so I thought what the heck, I’ll give it a shot. I’ve been using a single 40-tooth blade for everything (came with the tablesaw I bought used of Craigslist), along with painters tape to keep the chippin...

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

This review is as much a deal alert as it is a testimonial. This deal has been on Ebay for several weeks now from Cripe Distribution, and I’m amazed people haven’t scarfed these up like free champagne. If you’re not familiar with it, the Delta 35-7657 was originally the DeWalt DW7657 40T ATB general purpose blade….the same blade that Wood Mag rated favorably against the Forrest WWII a few years back when it was considered a good bargain at $50. It appears to be the sa...

Great for small shop using only one tool at time

Great for small shop using only one tool at time

I don’t know how informative this review will be as it’s my first dust collector and review, but I’ll try. I was originally looking at the 50-760 after hearing lots of good reviews, but since I plan on only using one tool at a time and I dont mind rolling this around from tool to tool I didn’t mind something a little cheaper as I was trying to save money (or so I thought), quieter, and smaller. Despite reviews I’ve seen on amazon, this thing was very simple t...

I said to my wife “I think I am going to buy a new table saw” She said “why”..... you have one already. I said a present to myself for retiring out of the Navy with 22 years. She said go ahead just make sure you get the one you want. “WHAT”...... Well here she is. Yup, this is all I got done today Just putting it together. Hmm… a review on putting it together. Easy, you get this black folder manual looks like something you get with a new car. Anyw...

Delta 36-714 10-Inch left Tilt Hybrid Saw

Delta 36-714 10-Inch left Tilt Hybrid Saw

This is a good bang for your buck, when I originally purchased the saw I got it for around $1200, it is a little more pricy today but none the less a good buy. It comes wired for 120 from the manufacturer but when I received it I got my electrician friend to ramp it up to 240, not much that I have in my shop can bog it down now. In my old High school we had a saw just like this one with the sole difference of it being connected to standard 120, I notice a big difference between them, if you h...

Update Delta finally made contact with me!!!!!!! I was suprised when I answered the phone and the caller said he was from Delta, seen as it was in the evening outside of normal business hours. He agreed that they have been having some problems, but they are trying to get everything ironed out.He agreed that evrything shoild have been there as one shipment. I didn’t mean for it to sound like I figured the mobile base is part of the saw package. It was added as a option, my point is n...

Delta 6in Jointer with Stand (Shopmaster)

Delta 6in Jointer with Stand (Shopmaster)

To begin this review I have to add that this is my first jointer ever. I’ve never used one before so all of my comments are based on being a novice. Also, one peculiar thing is that this jointer is not advertised on Delta’s website and other than seeing it in the Rockler advertisement I can’t find any proof of it’s existence;) The jointer is a 6 in model with a metal stand that needs to be assembled. The bed could be a bit longer but for me it works very well. S...

Delta 50-760 1 1/2 HP Dust Collector - Not so Pleased

Delta 50-760 1 1/2 HP Dust Collector - Not so Pleased

I see several satisified user with good reviews on this product. However it has a flaw that bugs me, and is not acceptable. I bought one new in December. The unit does a very good job with collection, is reasonably quiet and I’m happy with that. But new, right out of the box I found a problem. The rod that holds up the dust filter bag attaches to the top/side of the unit’s housing. The first time I moved the unit the rod hung on an over head beam and even though it wasnR...

Pretty good deal

Pretty good deal

I want to start off by saying that for all spindle or pen work, this lathe is perfect, the adjustment speeds are great and it is a breeze to operate. The problem is that when you try to turn anything larger than about 3” the whole machine goes to crap. I broke my shop’s midi while turning a 3.5” bowl and I bent the shaft, meaning that nothing can be turned on it ever again. As long as you use this for smaller objects it will serve you well although if you plan on using it...
