EDIT: THIS REVIEW WAS EDITED ONLY TO ADD A LINK TO ADDITIONS THAT WERE ADDED TO THE SAW. TABLESAW ADDITIONS: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/101376 I bought this saw over a month ago and wrote an initial review then. The review included many assembly tips as the owner’s manual had not been updated since the saw was first released to the market. While the review is for the Delta saw, it includes many assembly tips that may be of value to any owner of a new saw. Likewise, this review foll...

I picked this up at a local auction for $5, put it all together and was afraid to power on the drill for this contraption looks somewhat deadly. It came with a belt guard that I did not install (I will, though) so I can see just how this modern machinery marvel operates as the yellowish rubber band belt looks like it’s about to fling off the 2” silver circle pulley. I changed to the fastest RPM (3200) the little 10” drill press could go. This little device (who engineers...

Delta 78-963 Biesemeyer T-Square Anti Kickback Snap in Splitter -Not what it should be

Delta 78-963 Biesemeyer T-Square Anti Kickback Snap in Splitter -Not what it should be

I bought this back in December thinking it would be a good replacement since I did not have the factory splitter on my saw. The thought was lets make it safer until I buy my new saw. I had read many mixed reviews on the splitter and figured that maybe the bad reviews had to do with how people had been installing the splitter. It is just like any other splitter that you find on the uni-saw and the later contractor saws that have been discontinued. I got it home unboxed it, removed the ol...

Great Lathe for Limited Room

Great Lathe for Limited Room

I bought this lathe last February. Since then I have turned a bunch of pens and a few bowls/vessels.The lathe is great. I haven’t had any trouble with it bogging down. The reverse is big plus when it come to finishing. The variable speed is a must have.I have a couple of chucks to go with it (Nova G3 & Nova 2) which makes for versatility. I have the lathe on the stand also sold by Delta fitted with Rockler Workbench Casters which make moving it around the garage when not in use a br...

It was the best of times, and the worst of times

This was not my first lathe- the first lathe I got was the $89 lathe reviewed here if you want more information. For a starter lathe it wasn’t bad but I was desperate for something a little more… more. The Delta 46-460 VS was a Christmas gift from my family (desperately needed to create my family’s Christmas gifts!) and compared to what I had been using, it was huge improvement. Right out of the box the VS control box was cracked and would have been unusable, except it turns...

Using the Delta T-2 to replace the Ridgid 4511 fence

Using the Delta T-2 to replace the Ridgid 4511 fence

03-26-2012 01:55 AM by MoshupTrail | 10 comments »

A few weeks ago I started a forum topic about fixing the lame fence system that came with the Ridgid 4511 Granite top table saw. The problem with the Ridgid’s fence is that the guide tube is split and joined in the middle with a cheap plastic part. The plastic part forces one of the tubes to be slightly offset from the other making it impossible to adjust the fence angle. When the fence slides from one tube to the other the angle will change slightly. Initially I was thinking to...

Delta 40-690 20" scroll saw

Delta 40-690 20" scroll saw

I was lucky enough to get this saw while Woodcraft’s had it on sale for $349.00 last week. It was delivered today and I stoped everything I was doing and put it together. After reading reviews that dinged it for some problems I inspected it carefully. One of the issues was the attach screws for the light. I inspected the screws and then the threads in the saw housing. I found that the first few threads were non existant and the screws were just a bit to short and had no bite. I bought l...

Well Dec was a good month; Blondie gave the approval for me to buy more machines… LOL… I picked up the Delta 18/36 Drum Sander & now this Delta 18 drill press. The box was in great condition, and they brought it into the garage for me. . I also ordered the Biesemeyer fence for her as well. Blondie and I had it together in less than an hour. The only hard part was lifting the head on to the shaft. Once she told me to quit being a whip and lift it, we got it on th...
