Dewalt Radial Arm Saw

Dewalt Radial Arm Saw

1851 days ago by Doug | 9 comments »

I got this saw from a local news paper ad, I have had a number of craftsman radial arm saws, didn’t really care for them to much, kinda cheap made !, But now mine were newer saws and i know the old ones were real nice. This one was built in 1960-1962. It wasn’t in the best shape in the world so i dissmantled it and restored it, motor bearings, wires, switches,ETC. Avery nice saw, very acurate !

An oldie but a goodie

An oldie but a goodie

I have always liked radial arm saws. My first power tool purchase was a Craftsman radial arm saw. I only had the one saw and I could do most operations with it – ripping, cross-cutting, mitering; all achievable. The Craftsman (long gone) couldn’t hold a candle to the accuracy of this saw. The arm is cast iron that was aged prior to having the ways machined. The motor was a special built unit that has a flat bottom for extra clearance over the cutting surface. I purchased thi...

The DeWalt Stacked Bargain...

The DeWalt Stacked Bargain...

1865 days ago by knotscott | 5 comments »

This DW7670 is DeWalt’s 8” stacked dado blade set. It features (2) 24 tooth outside cutters, (4) 4 tooth 1/8” chippers, (1) 4T 1/16” chipper, (1) 4T 3/32” chipper, (12) steel shims, and a handy carrying case. The DW7670 expands to a maximum cutting width of 29/32”, and has a nearly infinite number of possible smaller widths by using the various shim and chipper sizes. All the teeth are C-4 micrograin carbide, and the bore diameter will fit 5/8” arbors...

I can't believe its not butter

I can't believe its not butter

From what I can see, the mechanics of this jigsaw appear identical to the corded version (the DW331K). Wow – this saw really surprised me. I wound up doing a lot of carpentry recently (cabinets in the garage made out of 2×4’s and plywood) and my B&D drill died. For my anniversary, the loml bought me a DeWalt 18v drill/impact driver combination kit which started me looking for a way to score another battery. Since I had a “lowest price I could find” B&D I t...

A Bargain and an All Around Very Good Performer in a 10" TK Blade

A Bargain and an All Around Very Good Performer in a 10" TK Blade

1943 days ago by knotscott | 11 comments »

This blade is such a nice bargain. For around $35, it comes close to my Infinity, Forrest, and Ridge Carbide blades, and holds its own against my many of my mid level Freud, Tenryu, and CMT blades, some of which cost nearly twice as much. For a 50T blade it feeds surprisingly easily, enabling it to go through thick stock more easily than most similar blades. Crosscuts were very clean, and rip cuts give glue ready edges. It’s very versatile overall, and easy for smaller saws to spin. ...

Here comes the DeWalt Track Saw - Lookout Festool

Here comes the DeWalt Track Saw - Lookout Festool

After receiving the Dewalt Track Saw I recently won in the Winter 2009 CompetitionI tried it out so that I could write a review for it. The first thing I wanted to point out that separates it from the Festool Version isthat you can set it on it’s side and cut parallel to the surface it’s sitting on.Look at the second picture and you can see the two black stripes. Those are slipperymaterial making it move smoothly. Great for trimming the bottom of a door in place. It has a ni...

Great saw for a big box store

Great saw for a big box store

2049 days ago by DannyBoy | 9 comments »

I know, we all give the big box stores crap for having shoddy this, that, and the other. But let’s face it, we nearly all shop there. Lowes has always been a good place and I continue to love buying from there. I was lucky enough to get offered a bit of a shopping spree from my father for my birthday (a bit belated) and Lowes was just down the street. For the past 6 months I had been cursing myself for spending $30 on a crappy Black your Decker saw that was mostly plastic. I boug...

Fully Automatic Weapon

Fully Automatic Weapon

So, this guy comes to the office to help one of the girls get into a cabinet that had a lost key. I heard all kinds of racket going on over there and thought I better sniff around. It’s a good thing I did because look what I saw. This is a drill with a 36 Volt Battery, two lights with 12 LEDs each, and a shoulder strap. The shoulder strap wasn’t just to help handle the weight, which I estimate at 5lbs, it was also to help with the torque. When you pull the trigger on this thi...

Dewalt DC845KA Impact Driver

Dewalt DC845KA Impact Driver

2111 days ago by Will Mego | 2 comments »

Thus far, I love everything about this driver! Faced with a roof job on my folks terribly rotten roof, and recalling the last time I was driving screws through simple plain old pine and how I couldn’t get screw in without stripping it, I decided to bite the bullet, and buy an impact driver. I looked at a few, but decided to splurge and get the 18V dewalt (in a kit, which included the 2 batteries). I’m glad I did. So far, it drives pretty much ANYTHING through ANYTHING. It’...

DeWalt DC616 18V 16 Gauge Cordless Straight Finish Nailer Review

DeWalt DC616 18V 16 Gauge Cordless Straight Finish Nailer Review

2191 days ago by Timber4fun | 4 comments »

Introduction – I have a small Porter-Cable air compressor and finish nailer. If you are like me, it doesn’t take long to get tired of hauling the air compressor, nailer, hose, nails, oil, and everything else that goes along with finish nailing, even when the compressor is small. Don’t get me wrong, I like my air compressor very much. However, it can be very inconvenient when you need to fire off just a few nails. In many similar cases, I’ll look for a workaround rather than haul out all m...
