Where Purchased: LowesPurchase Price: $149.00 Let me start off by saying that this is the first biscuit joiner that I’ve owned so I can’t compare it to other models but I will give you my honest take on the model. Specs:It has selectable depth settings for #0, #10, #20 and “M”. The M setting is for future use, what ever that means but at the M setting, you get the full depth of cut. The height is very easy to set by loosening a thumb screw and turning a knob ...

Great saw with a few annoyances

Great saw with a few annoyances

I have had this saw for about two years now and use it regularly. I have not yet bothered making a sled for the tablesaw since I tend to use this for anything narrower than about 14”. Note you can cut boards as wide as 16” but it requires messing about with the fence which I have not bothered to do. The saw does eat up a lot of space; you need a lot of clearance on the sides plus it needs a substantial clearance behind the saw. The price for the capacity I guess. I have not per...

Great cordless drill for an awesome price

Great cordless drill for an awesome price

I never go shopping on Black Friday…ever. Except that on Thursday morning I saw Home Depot advertising this Dewal drill for $99 (regularly $199). So I dragged my butt out of bed at 6am to go buy one. I have been using an older B&D corded drill that was given to me by a family member. It ceratinly gets the job done, but I have issues with non-hex bits slipping when using larger bits as well as some other minor issues. When I saw this drill for $99, including the drill, case,...

Good Nailer so far! More good things to come!

Good Nailer so far! More good things to come!

I had a craftsman nailer/stapler combo that did a decent job but would smash the wood sometimes with the square headed 16GA nails. I have some new woodwork that wasn’t going to work well with those nails so I was looking for a new one. I found this one and the “DA” nails (rounded head rather than square head) and it looked like it would do the trick. I picked it up at the local Lowe’s for $189.99. I didn’t do much investigation because all the brands looked t...

You get what you pay for?....Maybe less

I purchased these early this year. My decision was based on somewhat good reviews and mostly price. Based on the amount of usage that the dado set would see, I didn’t want to spend 200 on the Freud SD508 set which is what I had in mind in the first place.I also skipped over the Oshlun SDS-0842 set due to noticeable bat ears claims and reviews. So today I had a chance to put this set to test after making a zero clearance insert for this set. Well, I’ll make it short. Clean bottom and no bat ear...

Save Your Money

Save Your Money

I bought these blades as a set about a year ago now, however they did not last that long in my saw, they stayed in my miter saw and table saw for about a week and then they found a new home on my blade rack only to be taken down for the odd occasion when I build a deck. I paid about $40.00 for this two-pack of blades and they aren’t even worth that in my mind, but I was looking for a good deal and this popped right up. I find that the yellow strip makes more friction than anything else and it...

Heavy, Heavy Duty, and a Very Good Performer

Heavy, Heavy Duty, and a Very Good Performer

After getting a Jointer, I realized very quickly that I should have gotten a planer FIRST. I was able to flatten a board, and joint an edge, but that is something that I can do fairly easily with hand planes. thicknessing that board on the other hand is sometimes a bit more challenging to do by hand – especially when you have multiple boards to mill. Price I have limited funds, and so visit craigslist often for tools. I was actually not expecting to find the Dewalt 735 in my budge...

Low price but lacking in important features

Low price but lacking in important features

I purchased this saw due to the DeWalt name, reasonable price and past experience with DeWalt power tools. While this tool is powerful enough and seems well built, it lacks features that make it’s performance only average at best. The most frustrating aspect is that it lacks a blower and the wood debris from the cut obscures the sight line/markings that you try to follow. It is surprising as my last jig saw was sold by Walmart under their own private label at the time called Quantum Pro...

Great & Quiet Portable Belt Drive Compressor

Great & Quiet Portable Belt Drive Compressor

07-21-2009 01:55 PM by Cato | 9 comments »

When I discovered that my loud old direct drive unit would not supply enough air to run my new framing nailer I started searching for a portable belt drive replacement with a 4 or higher CFM @ 90 PSI, which is supposed to be adequate for framers. I wanted a belt drive because I knew they were quieter, and I couldn’t stand the noise of my old one. I searched on the web and found this compressor to be highly rated by contractors, and it was supposed to be very quiet with plenty of pow...

Dewalt Protector Smoke Safety Glasses - Got it for $3 but It's now only $2 Grrr.

Do they worth a buck at all? Why did I buy them? Adjectives that might best describe this glasses would be Exceptional Quality and Amazing Value. True to their name, DeWalt’s safety glasses set the standard for quality and value. I got them shipped to my home a couple days ago for $3 but now only $2 and they are more comfortable than safety glasses costing 5 times as much. That’s why I want to suggest you guys to grab one if you are needing this kind of thing. The glasses...
